Psychtoolbox issue after recent Mac update - macos

I recently got an update (macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 Update), and it seems to have messed with the display a bit.
I use Octave (v4.2.2) to run experiments off of my laptop (MacBook Pro 13-inch, 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5), which requires me to put images on the screen (Psychtoolbox v3.0.14). Since I updated my computer the script errors out at the point where I attempt to put anything on the screen. Unfortunately, because of a bug with Octave, I can't see an error message, so I don't know the exact nature of the problem.
Apart for this problem with Octave, the screen randomly switches to "static" (like the old school TVs!). This only lasts for half a second before it switches back. But I can't help but wonder if both problems have a common root.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Appcelerator Studio is very slow when scroll

Appcelerator Studio, build: 4.7.1.201609100950
macOS Sierra 10.12
iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, Late 2015)
Java 8
Node.js 4.4.7
npm 2.15.8
Titanium CLI 5.0.9
I've tried (many times) to reinstall the editor, but without solving the problem. The editor is really really slow when scroll (after macOS Sierra update). It's impossible to use it without going crazy. I use Appcelerator Studio for many years and i have never had these problems.
There are other external components that could upgrade / reinstall? (Java.. etc etc)
Thanks
Update
In addition to the slowdown, the editor does not properly recognize the file format.
I had this slow down issue with appcelerator Studio as well (some of my colleagues swear by using Atom editor)... this happens with Appcelerator when you have one .js file that is huge (thousands of lines).
Ideally, split your js file into seperate commonJS files and coll them into the original js file with require('filejs')
I also had this problem for almost 1 month and I went completely crazy one day due to Studio slow-ness.
I tried complete fresh installation of Appc & all of its components 2-3 times, but no luck.
Then on one day, it was not working even like previous day, so I decided to completely format my MacintoshHD and re-install the macOS Sierra because I noticed that some other normal apps like Skype & Email were also started working slowly. So I got the idea that it's related to macOS Sierra update.
Very Important Note (take system backup first)
Before installing OS, I took backup in external hard-drive and then I ran the First Aid (Disk Utility Tool) on MacintoshHD and found that there were some corruptions in it, so I fixed them but then something really crazy & out of this world happened with my system - Kernel Panic and my system did not start-up for 3 hours of hectic try.
So the last solution was to format the Macintosh HD & install the OS again. The best way to do this is to make a bootable pen-drive having macOS Sierra in it and then install using it.
Another way (if you have very good speed LAN) is to connect your system to Apple server and let it install latest OS from online. But it will download the whole OS & other required files (of at least 5GB size).
There are many online tutorials on how to install macOS Sierra again after such creepy issues.
FYI: I did re-installation of macOS Sierra last week & now everything is working like it is supposed to work on a Mac machine (just buttery smooth.).

VirtualBox guest running OSX Mountain Lion: XCode install error

I'm trying to install Xcode in a VirtualBox Hackintosh for app development purposes. I used MultiBeast and the Xcode installation is complaining about the display, but the way VirtualBox handles displays and graphics is beyond me.
I get the following error: Xcode: CVCGDisplayLink::setCurrentDisplay didn't find a valid display -- falling back to 60Hz.
I've currently followed the installation instructions from this link. I'm not sure if it makes a difference but my host is ArchLinux with Intel Haswell with Iris Pro Graphics.
Why am I getting this error?
Hmm.. not sure if this is right or not. I did this, and it fixed something:
from http://www.macbreaker.com/2012/07/mountain-lion-virtualbox.html
You need to change the CPUID to a non-Haswell ID to fix the issue
non-booting 10.8 on a Haswell CPU:
VBoxManage modifyvm {your vm name here} –cpuidset 00000001 000106e5 02100800 0098e3fd bfebfbff
But I'm having some trouble remembering the exact chain of events. It might've been another tweak later on that got XCode to install properly.
Regardless, I feel dirty for even attempting to do this. I hoped I would never be put in a situation where I had to cheat on Linux, but it beats spending over a grand (despite that mine is top-notch) to work on a useless iPhone app. In other words, it sucks being an independent commodity producer.
I'm getting the same error, but on actual Apple hardware.
Despite that, the display link object does seem to work.
Maybe it's because it is not familiar with my Dell monitor.

SecureCRT vertical scroll speed using Trackpad is too fast on MacBook Pro

I am using an early 2011 MacBook Pro and have recently installed SecureCRT.
I was previously using an old 2006 model but the problem at hand was not present with my old machine.
Both machines running OSX Yosemite 10.10.1.
When viewing any session in SecureCRT, the vertical scroll speed when using the trackpad is insanely fast. I have checked my System Preferences and the vertical scroll speed is normal when using browsers, text editors, pdf viewers etc.
There are no apparent settings within SecureCRT to manipulate the vertical trackpad scroll speed, yet I question why this only affects this application.
I have posted a question to the VanDyke forums but to no avail have I received an answer just yet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this juiced up scroll speed is slowing my work efficiency.
The trackpad speed issue is related to the version of SecureCRT and the version of OSX.
I have been running SecureCRT v6.6 on OSX Yosemite 10.10.1 on the new machine and it is surprising that I can even load the application without crashing as there should be a Python Library mismatch.
VanDyke Rep: "For one, I am not sure how you are running SecureCRT v6.6 on Yosemite at all. The first version to officially support Yosemite is 7.3.x. To my recollection, running anything much older than v7.2 would cause crashes due to a Python library mismatch."
I have upgraded SecureCRT to version 7 and trackpad scroll speed is back to normal.

iSight/FaceTime camera not working after upgrade

right now i am running the OS X Yosemite beta 10.10, after upgrading my OS X i lost my camera, i tried everything in the forums, but nothing helped.
i can't FaceTime, or Skype or anything. normally i would take it in to an apple store, but the closest apple store to me is about 200 miles away.
since i am beta testing OS X Yosemite, i knew i was going to have some problems, but i need this to work
also; i also installed the update 2 days ago as it was recommended in the app store.
(not a hardware problem, was working perfectly before the upgrade and it is not found in the "system info> USB"); also not user specific.
Open your terminal and type this command:
$ sudo Killall VDCAssistant
Now, go to your Skype->Preferences->Audio/Video and you can see the webcam working.
Have a good one!
Apparently, this problem persists even in the recent versions of OS X Yosemite. I also had this problem. So, the answer to solve it is basically resetting the SMC, which Apple provides instructions in https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295
Now, I was not able to sort it even by resetting the SMC in a Macbook Pro 15 mid 2012. At least, not immediately. As I keep a few things connected in the USB ports, I believe it might have been the reason, so I closed all my applications (just in case), turned off the computer, unplugged all the USB and thunderbolt connectors (yes, including the LAN adaptor), as well as the earphone connector to speakers. THEN, reset the SMC (for non-removable battery computers, by pressing and releasing control-shift-alt-power [left shift] simultaneously while connected to power). For me, it worked.
It might be useful to remember that the SMC is the System Management Controller, that takes care of the hardware in a low-level, including i/o, keyboard backlight, speakers, camera... so, if you are going to reset it, it might make sense to release all the possible burden it might feel.
Resetting SMC is the only thing that solved the problem on my MBP Mid-2012.
The issue came about around the time I upgraded to High Sierra.
This issue is solved with the newest update of OSX Yosemite. Just update through the Appstore app and everything will be normal.

Xcode freezes at indexing, randomly, iPhone dev

My Xcode version is 4.6.2, which is the latest at this moment 2013.6.2, when I try to run a project(not a specified one) in simulator, it randomly freezes(stops) at indexing. I don't know if it's my macbook's problem because it's relatively a old one. My project is very light-weighted, just some demo. I'm a newbie. Normally, it works well, but sometimes it freezes at indexing, say 5% possibility.
And I cannot stop it even I clicked the "Stop" button at the right of "Run", and either if I close the simulator. I have to force the computer to shut down by keep pressing the power button. It brings damage to computer.
Anyone knows how to fix this? Or I have to get a newer one? Any help will be appreciated. THANKS.
Screenshot:
Xcode 4.6.2 in 1.4GHz, 2GB Ram
This is the main problem, the Xcode needs 2GB+ itself, and there are others applications and processes running in foreground and background.
I have 3GHz C2D, 4GB RAM, still at times it hangs at times :(
So, either you need to upgrade the hardware or degrade the Xcode version.
EDIT:
As you have Macbook air, you cant upgrade the RAM which is soldered to the motherboard.
