I have a Xcode8 project with swift3 been released as version 1.0. Then I enhanced the project to version 2.0. But now customer requires to have both these two apps (i.e v1.0 and v2.0) existing on the iPhone at the same time.
I have tried to rename the v2.0 project names, but whenever I install the 2nd project, it overwrites the existing project.
Any suggestion on this? Thanks in advance.
I have found the issue, I need to rename the bundle identifier in the project General settings to make it a new app.
I originally created my XCode project with version 3.2.6 and it's moved through 4.x to 5.0. I only just realised that XCode 3.2.6 was still my default XCode and that new projects are .xcode rather than .xcodeproj.
Is there an easy way to update my project - or will XCode have done this and simply kept the old name?
Open the Xcode project by Right click the .xcode file and click the open with option and choose the latest Xcode application.
I have an app built in XCode 4.6 and I'm trying to install it onto an iPad with iOS 5.1.
In the target summary I have set the deployment target to 5.1 and in the build settings the base SDK is set to latest (6.1). From what I have read this should work but when I install the app via the IPA file and iTunes the app starts and then flashes off.
It runs fine if I build and install through Xcode.
Is there something I'm missing here? Am I incorrect in thinking it will work if the base SDK is iOS 6.1 but the deployment target is 5.1?
I did double check the profile stored against the release configuration and found it was incorrect. So Kevin was right. Thank you.
It had been my understanding up til now that a profile error would prevent installation altogether. I know better now.
I downloaded a sample code from the MAC OSX developer library and the code is the format of a .pbproj (Project builder) and im unable to open it on xcode.
I have tried the following without any luck:-
1) Rename FancyAbout.pbproj to Old.xcodeproj
2) Open Old.xcodeproj. Xcode will ask you to upgrade it. Save it as
FancyAbout.xcodeproj.
3) When the project opens, choose Project > Upgrade All Targets in
Project to Native... to upgrade to the Xcode build system
4) Build and run.
I run a Mac 10.7.3 with Xcode on 4.3.2
Anyone have any suggestions on how i can get this running in xcode?
Thanks in advance!
To the best of my knowledge older Project Builder, and even older Xcode projects can not be opened or upgraded directly. The only real way you could upgrade would be to find a previous version of Xcode that is able to open and upgrade the older project then save the project using the older Xcode and see if the newest Xcode is then able to open the upgraded project.
Or, simply create a new Xcode project and copy over all the source files from the old project into your new project and go from there. This option is probably considerably easier then trying to find older versions of Xcode to do the upgrade with.
I'm about to download Xcode 4 and was wondering, will project files from the recent version of Xcode work with the new version?
I have opened and saved files without any problem between 3.2.5 and xCode 4. I heard that some had problems with interface builder generated files though. But I think you can say that you are safe if you're not using IB.
