Xcode 5.1.1 - iOS 6.1 Simulator not responding - xcode

I need to test an application on an iOS6 simulator. Since this iOS version is not part of the current Xcode6 environment, I tried to install Xcode 5.1.1 beside my Xcode 6 installation and use it.
I downloaded Xcode 5.1.1 from the Apple developer pages and installed in in my applications folder. After launch I am downloading and installing the iOS 6.1 SDK from within Xcode.
After that I am trying to launch the simulator (NOT with an app, just a clean launch) but when the simulator window is shown it keeps black. The log says:
Could not lookup service com.apple.iphonesimulator.host_support: 1102
repeatingly. Clicking "Reset Content and Settings..." wont work. I also deleted the SDK file from
~/Applications/Xcode 2.app/Contents/Developer/Applications/
and the 6.1 Folder from
~/Users/username/Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/
And made a fresh install. Also no effect. I know there are a lot of similar questions here on stack, but they all suggest the "Reset Content and Settings..." which wont work for me. Any idea what might going on?
When launching an iOS7.1 simulator from Xcode 5.1.1 it starts up and works like a charm. The iOS7.1 comes with the Xcode bundle, the iOS6.1 simulator has to be installed manually. Maybe that's the problem?
Thanks!

Ok,
i probably found the answer here: In OS X 10.10 (Yosemite Beta), How do I Test Using iOS 6.1 Simulator?
In short: iOS6 is not supported under OS-X 10.10 and so the simulator won't work.

Expo Error running Xcode iOS Simulator: No iPhone devices available in Simulator

I'm having an issue running iOS simulator from Expo. I'm seeing these two errors:
Trying to open the project in iOS simulator...
Opening iOS simulator
iOS Simulator device failed to boot. Try opening Simulator first, then running your app.
Error installing or running app. Error: Timed out waiting for iOS Simulator device to boot.
Trying to open the project in iOS simulator...
Booting device in iOS simulator...
There was a problem booting a device in iOS Simulator. Quit Simulator, and try again.
Error installing or running app. Error: No iPhone devices available in Simulator
An iPhone 5s with iOS 11.2 is clearly available and works in Xcode simulator with a simple project ran from Xcode which tells me this is an Expo issue.
I'm using:
Expo version: 3.4.1
Xcode version: 9.2
Mac OS: 10.12.6
Please note - I cannot upgrade my OS. So Xcode version 9.2 is what I must use.
Things I've tried:
set command line tools as correct Xcode version with path /Applications/Xcode.app
delete all simulators and re-add them
start simulator before running app / start simulator after running app
delete all contents under Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Devices/
I know this question has been asked before, but no solid answer has been given. Maybe someone has figured it out since then.
your phone runs a newer version of software, so you won't be able to use Xcode version 9.2, you have to use 11.2 or newer before running it on your own phone.
if you want it to work with a newer version of iOS, you have to link the device files of newer Xcode version to the version you use.

this link should help you with your problem, just follow their steps
you have to do this because each iOS has its own files which comes with the new versions of Xcode
I hope this helps you;)

Xcode 5.0 testing in iOS 5.0.1 Simulator

I have a customer who has reported an issue that my app instantly crashes after starting on iOS 5.0.1 on an iPad 1, and I wanted to test it.
How is it possible to run an app with Xcode 5.0 on an iOS 5.0.1 Simulator, as it is not shown in the list of available downloads.
See this answer, it might help. (Please note that I haven't tried it.)
If it really is impossible on Mavericks, maybe you could consider installing an older OS X version in a VM?

Can't install app on iOS 6 after iOS 7 Xcode update

Recently I downloaded the Xcode update, and tried my app on the iOS 7 simulator, and had to change a few things as expected. I noticed that the update uninstalled the iOS 6 simulator, so I downloaded it again and the 6.1 sim runs fine it seems, until I pressed run in Xcode. It gave me an alert box simply saying "iOS simulator failed to instal the application" with an OK button. the iOS sim was on the home screen with the old version of my app before i started working on it today. Has anybody else had this problem? It didn't give me any other details. Also my deployment target os is 6.1 and pressing build results in a success.
Found another post that says you have to change the "Opens in" bit to Xcode 4.6 in nibs and storyboards. fixed my problem.

XCode 4.3.1 download apps but does not run them

Xcode 4.3.1 has developed a strange behavior -
It will download my app to the attached device but will not run them.
I can delete the app on the device and then have XCode download the app to the device (the icon appears) but the debugger does not run it.
What gives?
Restarting the macbook fixed the problem.

How do I get past the empty Xcode Organizer window in order to provision a development device?

I'm new to iOS development. I just installed Xcode 3.2.4 and the iOS 4.1 SDK on my Intel iMac running Snow Leopard. According to the docs, I first need to create a development profile by specifying a device (which in my case is an iPod touch 4G), but the Organizer window that I open up after starting Xcode comes up fully blank.

In addition to that, when I click on "Create a new Xcode project for Mac OS X or iPhone OS" on the Xcode welcome screen, I do not have an option to start a new "Cocoa Touch" project.

It sounds like you may not have the iOS SDK installed, or installed properly. Also, most developers will have upgraded to Xcode 3.2.5 a long time ago, so we won't be able to accurately compare what you're seeing to our own installations. Let me strongly suggest that you download the latest iOS SDK and install that. Once you get the current SDK installed, I think both issues that you're asking about will go away.
