I have an issue that is elsewhere on this website, though I don't see a way to add a comment to it, without being asked to "answer" it.
My website was originally created NOT using UTF-8. We are updating them all now. But late, I know.
But now the German site we built, has this issue of the German characters showing the black diamonds.
We cannot add the longer 'code' for each character as they are words typed into products and menu links. So I assume we have to update our database. I have done this setting it to "utf8_germany2_ci".
I use notepad or notepad2 for writing code. It says "ANSI" in the baseline of the window.
I've read that using "cp850" might be better, but I've not heard of it before now.
Happy to supply screenshots and make any alterations.

When I try to share an article page on Google+ by putting its URL into the post, a preview is displayed with article's title, description and image. The problem is that the showed text is not UTF-8 and does not mean anything - Here is an example of what the post preview displays as an article's decription:
zveřejnà výsledky vyšetřovánà aféry
Try it for yourself - visit this page and try to share it on Google+: https://roklen24.cz/a/pzbmw/kdo-opravdu-stoji-za-burzovnimi-krachy-vinte-pocitace
Facebook sharing works fine, only Google+ is having this issue. It is not just one or two characters problem, each character with punctuation is behaving like that - it's mostly replaced by a character A with different punctuiation - here is an example:
ORIGINAL string: zveřejněné výsledky vyšetřování aféry
DISPLAYED string: zveřejnà výsledky vyšetřovánà aféry
Could You tell what might be causing this problem? Thanks
I think this issue was a bug on the Google side because it used to be working before.
I got the same problem as you said too but it seems to be fixed just few minutes ago.

I have an app that I have out for external testing; I have submitted two (2) different versions without any problems. Now, I am trying to submit another new version (#3), but when filling out the Test Flight Information the "next" button is disabled, preventing me from adding the new version.
Any ideas on how to fix this? or what the problem is?
I've had the same problem and finally got it working. First I had to go into safari, Chrome didn't work. You have to fill out every field for every language you have. Every. Single. One.
Then the next button finally became active.
Also the app description has to be over 10 characters long.
I'm submitting a bug report to apple because whoever made this was an idiot.
This is the workaround:
go to TestFlight for your app using Safari.
enter all of the data for all of your supported languages; it doesn't have to be in the language (I used English for all of the languages, French, German, Japanese, etc). Just make sure you are mindful of the length restrictions!
Next button is then enabled! And you can continue on... :D
I filled out everything, but still no Continue button gets activated. For some languages email and url field will appear for some not. I think something is really badly programmed there

TestFlight Requires Export Compliance Information
All TestFlight builds now require Export Compliance information. To answer Export Compliance questions and upload any necessary documentation, visit the new Encryption section in Features. Once your documentation is approved, you will receive a key string value to add to your build's Info.plist. Learn more in Resources and Help
in short, if your application has not put that in your encryption info.plist, can also resolve:
<key>ITSAppUsesNonExemptEncryption</key><false/>
I'm in a pickle. I've designed a Joomla 2.5 site, which I have locally installed. I typically equip my installations with JCE editor for my clients, but at design time, operate in HTML mode. When all the content was in, I decided to test WYSIWYG mode to make sure nothing went awry. Unfortunately, something did. Observe the lack of spaces:
Very interesting that the problem occurs ONLY when saving from WYSIWYG view.
At first I thought JCE was malfunctioning (although the editor itself continued to show spaces), so I tried reinstalling. Then I tried other editors -- CKEditor and TinyMCE. The same symptoms manifested with them as well.
Trying to isolate the problem, I checked the database after pasting in clean markup in HTML view, and again after saving in WYSIWYG view. This is the result:
So, based on the database field, it would appear that the process of saving, in either HTML or WYSIWYG view is working properly... But then why is the output being fed to the browser different depending on which method was used to edit?
So far I've checked entity encoding, CSS (although it's obviously not a CSS issue), and tried installing on another local server. No changes in behavior.
I could really use some suggestions.
Thank you in advance for your help.

PS: This is the latest version of Joomla (2.5.6), running on Apache.
When we typed some text continually this issue was occurred. Actually this was not the issue this problem was solved by using correct css style for that division.
<style type="text/css">#divid {width:750px;word-wrap;break-word;"}</style>
You have to use this css style for your division . Surely this ll resolve that problem...
I've looked around online for this but can't seem to find an answer anywhere so hopefully someone can help.
I'm getting a "Windows Security" popup appearing on a site I've created (and so are others which is who I need to fix it for rather than myself) when trying to download a word document or excel file. PDFs seem fine.
An example page is http://www.christletonhigh.co.uk/school_information/uniform.php if you click to download the “Uniform Prices & Order Form” in the bottom right.
There’s no SSL on the site and the error only comes up on IE (I'm using IE9 on Windows 7 which I've seen others mentioning online as their setup with this happeneding) and doesn’t seem to effect all files so it’s a bit confusing. Clicking cancel on the popup causes the document to open anyway.
Anyone have any ideas please? The client tells me that the documents causing the problems have never been password protected.
For the reference, here's the detailed explanation why this happens: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2019105
Solution mentioned by Anshuman should work: create script that adds "Content-Disposition" header with "attachment" value. For example: Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="myfile.doc". This will force all the content (including PDF, images, etc.) to be downloaded.
Security settings aside, other browsers seem to handle this more gracefully than IE9. Chrome, for example, seems to handle the download of the document with ease, and not result in a Windows Security dialog prompting for credentials to their network...
The users can disabled the 'protected view' settings from Word options | Trust Center, and the document will open with no dialog (probably not desirable to instruct them to do this)
I suppose this is the risk one takes when having users download content which require other applications to handle. a PDF would be better (hence the "P" for "Portable"), so if they can use PDF, that would be my first advice.
This issue comes when you give the direct URL path of the file and let the browser handle the file. To resolve this create a php script that explicitly downloads the file. Hope this helps :)
As you can see from the screenshot, vs2008 thinks asp tags are hyperlinks. I have reset all the settings on it but the issue is still there. I have tried on different projects and the same issue is present. I have moved the projects to another visual studio installation and problem has gone until I move them back.
Any one knows why this happens?

Does it happen for tags without an asp: prefix.
e.g. Can you create a UserControl, and drag that in and give it a different tag prefix
<cc1:MyCustomControl />
If not, then it sounds like something has gotten set on your system that treats asp as a protocol :(
But to be honest, I'm at a complete loss as to why this might happen.
Must say it is strange. Although I am clueless, I will still try.
Are those real hyperlinks or just underlined text? If underlined text, then you can change the settings (since you have mentioned about resetting the setting, this won't work). If they are real hyperlinks, I am stumped.
