I want to create a sitemap page for Magento that will display all the static pages in an orderly fashion. This page is going to be similar to http://www.magentocommerce.com/sitemap/ Has anyone created a Magento Extension or can someone point me in the right direction? Searching for this feature has been a nightmare since all I get are Google SEO results.
Edit: I would like to add some of the static pages to the site map. Currently the default sitemap has two options: Categories and Products. I would like a way to set which of my static pages can be added to the site map. Right now what I have done is just created a static page which I populated with links to my pages and products. However, if the client decides to add new products, it would require that page to be edited.
CMS > Pages > Manage Hierarchy
Bellow "Add node" button You can set CMS hierarchy with position.
$collection = Mage::getModel('enterprise_cms/hierarchy_node')->load("root_node_id");
"root_node_id" is parent of Your "Sitemap".
Create tree from $collection.
Also You can see enterprise_cms_hierarchy_node table, you can use columns as atributes from there to position elements inside Your tree.

How do you implement a holder/page pattern in Processwire. The idea is simple. One page type manages the list view, and usually contains very little native content. The primary function of this page is to provide a list of its child pages, providing a brief summary for each one, along with a link to its detail view. A second page type will represent the detail view for any given child page, which will typically have a custom template and content fields that make up its identity. Think of it think like a news listings, image galleries, even a Twitter timeline.
I can give examples for two different methods from a recent site I built with Processwire.
First is NEWS section:
I have a page called News and it's template is news-listing. Under News, I have news pages and their template is news-detail. news-listing template only accepts news-detail and news-listing for child pages. I allowed news-listing under news-listing if client needs to create sub listing pages under news.
News-listing template basically gets the news with
<?php $news = $page->children('template=news-detail'); ?>
Second is Products section
Site has different section for purposes. Like WOMENS, MENS, KIDS etc. The products are not shared among those main separation. I have a structure like below
MAIN SEPARATION
Products (products are listed under)
Categories (categories are listed under)
On product details page you can select multiple categories. On categories page products are listed like this. And on main separation page I have categories listed. Each of these page type has their own templates.
$products = $page->rootParent->find("template=product-detail,category={$page->id}");
Hope it helps
Just create pages under parent page then iterate on children pages. Processwire is slow though, better use Silverstripe it's more responsive.
I am trying to display categories on magento home page. I know how to do it in a normal way using magento collections. I want to have it like a widget, if you insert a category link widget in static block or cms page, you can see the following:
{{widget type="catalog/category_widget_link" template="catalog/category/widget/link/link_block.phtml" id_path="category/3"}}
Now, here the id_path indicates which category to display. Can we modify it somehow to show a list of specified categories. For example like this: id_path = '3,4,5,6' so it will display all these specified categories. Can anybody guide me a way to do this? I don't know much about widget coding stuff in magento.
You can add as many as widgets inside the static block by selecting the widget as many as times you want.
I have a problem deciding how to implement my category/cms page structure in Magento. It seems so over rigid in its design, even to the extent of adding custom fields to categories, I had to access phpmyadmin and hack it manually.
Ok, so consider this basic sitemap, with page types.
Home CMS PAGE
Shop Category
Just In Category
Clothes Category
Shoes Category
Accessories Category
Sale Category
So Home will be a CMS page, that is ok. Just In, Clothes and all other 3rd level categories will display a list or grid of products. Easy peasy.
My issue is with Shop. I need this to contain static blocks or widgets (cannot yet see the difference), and other elements such as a daily featured product, links to promotions etc. This page will not display a list/grid of products, that is not what I need.
If I create a CMS page called Shop, there is a conflict between breadcrumbing, url titles, and a bunch of other stuff.
My question is: how do I create a category called 'Shop' and make it behave like a CMS page with blocks of manageable widgets?
Under Admin -> Catalog -> Manage Categories, select a category and go to the Display Settings tab. Change Display Mode to Static Blocks Only and select the static block that you want to display on that page.
Another option is to use a Wordpress integration extension. Fishpig has one available for Magento.
We are using the Magento module DerModPro_BCP (Betterconfigurable Products).
We have configurable products based on simple products. Some of these simple products have related products.
When selecting a configuration option, the related products of the assigned simple product should be loaded.
What is the right approach to add blocks to reload when changing options?
The extension renders the full simple product during the AJAX request and extracts the necessary data via Xpath queries from the generated HTML. Then it sends this data to the browser where CSS queries are used to replace the content in the page
Create a new module with a following config.xml
In the node global/bcp/update_selector_list add a new node <related />
In default/dermodpro_bcp add <update_related_.... entries to defined the Xpaths and CSS paths
In addition, catalog/product/list/related.phtml has to be modified in your theme to contain an empty <div> as a placeholder, if no related products are defined.
I am new to magento .
I want to create a right sidebar on product view page such that this is visible only on product view page not on other pages.
How can I do this.Please Help.
Thanks.
To have a right sidebar only on the product page you need to to a few things:
in the admin panel set the product pages to have 2 columns with right sidebar
create a block and template file (or just edit one that is available)
in catalog.xml (this is in your themes's layout folder) find the handle called and within that section find in there you can add your block / template file.
For more info on how you can create blocks and templates see here.
In magento almost every postion is handled by catalog.xml, (if you go the proper way) You can place any static block , in catalog.xml you will find the postioning of blocks for every page (be it category, product or home page) just you need to place the block in the right reference.
