I'm deadly interested in Cocoa. I want to begin to study Objective-C and to use Xcode. Please tell me what the minimal (let's say, the cheap one) Mac Model you'd like to recommend me. I am meaning for Xcode 4.
Thank you.
Any Mac you can buy at this moment will be fine. Your cheapest option would probably be the Mac mini if you have a decent screen already. Other good options can be the MacBook 13" (I use this is my main development machine) and iMac of you don't need to be mobile.
Any new Mac. Or any used Intel-based Mac under 3 years old.

I‘m a beginner in Xcode and want to write an app for IOS on may iMac.
My iMac is old and I run the newest macOS version possible which is 10.13.6. The newest Xcode version possible for that macOS version is 10.1 which I installed. And now I‘m stuck, because I learned that the SwiftUI interface is only supported from Xcode 11 on.
I have now two possibilities:
Start working, having disadvantages:
no SwiftUI (only UIKit)
problems with publishing apps for newer iphones (i would have to borrow a newer imac from someone else which is not always available to me).
Scratch together some money and buy a new iMac or Macbook.
1 or 2 ?

Just bought a new pumped up MacBook AIR (i7,8gb ram) that comes with 10.8 OS X preinstalled.
I code Actionscript, Flex for all targets (including mobile). I have used Flash Builder 4.7 up until now, but I have concerns about Adobe's commitment to it.
I have always had Apple macs because i prefer OS X to Windows always.
If budget is not an issue, what IDE would you suggest?
I would like it to be a complete system that lets you debug and test for multiple platforms (including mobile simulators), and ideally would support more than just the AS3 stuff - like Haxe and Javascript (for the future).
IntelliJ IDEA ? FDT? and what about the new CodeOrchestra including the C.O.L.T (no new compiling needed??!!)?
any input would be welcome
thanx a lot

I am a iPhone Developer. I have a dell inspiron 1525 laptop. I need to install mac os x(Lion or snow leopard) on it since buying a mac is too costly. Just for practicing.
Guys can anyone help me on how to install mac os. Thanks in advance.
That's totally illegal, but nothing is impossible. There are some tricky ways to do it. But you won't get best results or good development environment in it. So, if you want Mac OSX, then buy a Mac. I will not share any tricky ways to install Mac OSX in dell laptop as it is illegal. Correct me if I am wrong.

I just bought an old Apple iMac G4 for $10 at a yard sale and I'm trying to figure out what I could install on the unit to make it somewhat functional/useful. For $10 I couldn't resist. Now if I can figure out something that I can actually install on it that would make it useful I will have gotten a great deal.
Any thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.
You could install
any Mac OS X up to 10.5
any Linux distro for PowerPC (see e.g. Penguin PPC

I'm trying to make a GUI prototype for an Ipad app but my Operating system is Windows.
Can anyone tell what prototyping tool I should use, I don't want to use photo shop anyways
There are no such tools runs on windows. For preview your prototype design, There is a tool available on iPhone, iPad and MAC called ProtoView.
You may check it out on APP Store: http://bit.ly/protoview
ForeUI, a very useful and easy to use protyping tool, worked for me, It provides windows, Mac OS X, Wire Frame etc themes
