I want to be able to create a shortcut, hotkey, anything, to be able to switch between 2 (or more?) different screen resolutions (only on one of my screens - I work with win7 extended screen layout).
I've tried HotKey Resolution Changer v1.4 from http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/17604/change-desktop-resolution-with-a-keyboard-shortcut/ ,
but it works for me only for the first change and then crashes.
Any ideas?

I had stumbled on this issue when starting to use KVM with Windows 7. It keeps forgetting the resolution and it became a hassle to change it. Anyway, to the point:
Download Nircmd from here, extract it somewhere on your PC and create a desktop shortcut using Nircmd itself:
nircmd.exe cmdshortcut "~$folder.desktop$" "800x600x24" setdisplay 800 600 24
This will create a shortcut that will set the display mode to 800x600x24bit colors.

I use three screens on my windows 10 desktop. The main screen is 1920x1200. My laptop has 1920x1080 on its only screen. I remote control my desktop from my laptop, and I change the display settings to disable the two other screens and set the resolution of my main screen to match that of my laptop. It's somewhat tedious to change those settings, so I am looking for a way to change my display settings all at once.
Essentially I wish to have two profiles: 1 for regular use, and 2 for remote control. As far as I have researched, one cannot change display settings in windows 10 from the command line, so a simple bat file is not possible.
What is a way of achieving this switch with as few clicks as possible?
Maybe you could use PowerShell with the cmdlet Set-DisplayResolution.

I've used ObjectDock in the past to replace the taskbar for a number of reasons. I had to reinstall Windows and apparently now ObjectDock is no longer free. One main reason I liked ObjectDock is because it completley replaces the taskbar, hiding the taskbar completely, not just autohiding it or hiding it till moving my mouse to the bottom, but actually completely removing it.
So clearly there is some way to hide it or move it so it doesn't show up in some way, but I've yet to find anything online that shows a way within Windows 7 or a programmatic way to do so. I've got most of my programs linked to hotkeys through AutoHotkey, and since my resolution is small I'd like the extra space.
Try using either Taskbar Eliminator or The Ultimate Windows Tweaker. They should allow you to remove it, this should remove it for you.
Photoshop CS2 always stay on top, even when I click another app from the windows taskbar (right of the start button).
It's completly annoying me. Always need minimized, click the other app, reclick again on photoshop, re-reminimized.
I only have 1 screen at work so I can't let photoshop on one screen and work with the other app on the other screen.
I look in all photoshop menu, find nothing
I googled the problem, and find a adobe page explain this problem is a "feature".
I only want photoshop cs2 work all other app on windows and loose focus, let new app appear on top.

I had this problem and somehow solved it. But my solution may be just as fickle as why the problem occurs in the first place. But here's what I did:
On the layers palette (F7) I clicked on the small arrow just below the close "X" button, on the right. Then I selected "Pallete Options"
Didn't change any options but just clicked OK.
Now the entire window remained on top, not just the palettes. So I restarted Photoshop and it seemed to fix the issue.
I found that if you open up "edit > preferences > Memory & Image Cache" and set your memory usage up then it will fix it. I am on a Windows 10.

I literally JUST found this on accident and fixed it after having issues with all my toolbars being hidden behind stuff, and not being able to minimize without clicking on the PS window first etc. Seems to have worked!

Try Topmost Toggle. Works on Window 7, Window 8 and even Windows 8.1. I use it for disabling Photoshop CS2 and when Firefox bug out. Works like a charm and it's pretty easy to use:
Download and extract Topmost Toggle
Run the program - you will see that it minimize on tray
Ctr + Right click on your program and click

I am having same issue with CS2 on Windows 7 64 bit. To work around, I hit tab on keyboard when photoshop window is active, that makes all pallets invisible, then I can switch to any window I need to work on.

I tried to use the "Running applications" window's size :
it works fine when the taskbar's orientation is bottom\top, but when it's left\right this window takes the entire taskbar width.

Deskbands are not quite dead on Windows, but they are on life-support. First make sure if you don't want to take advantage of thumbnail toolbars, ITaskbarList3::ThumbBarXxx() functions.
I'm not aware of an api to read back the button size setting. There's a backdoor you can use, these configuration settings are always saved to the registry. Run SysInternals' ProcMon utility and change the setting. On my machine (Windows 8), out popped this registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\TaskbarSmallIcons
That almost surely works, I can't guarantee anything beyond Windows 8 of course.
I have an issue where a program that runs fine under windows xp has stopped working with windows 7. The application appears to start fine then disappears with only the taskbar icon remaining. If you hover over the taskbar icon you can see the application and it kind of looks correct but selecting it does nothing. I cannot seem to get the application to actually appear. Has anyone experienced anything like this and is aware of any possible solutions?
Recent builds have worked with windows 7 in the past and I don't believe any significant changes were made before this issue arrived.

It may be the program is running but somewhere off screen. Shift-right-click the taskbar button and select "Move." Press the arrow keys to begin the move, then move your mouse to attach the movement to the mouse cursor. See if that brings the app to the primary monitor.
If not, you may have an incompatibility issue which will require more research/investigation.
Holding down the Windows key and the letter P at the same time will allow you to change your projector settings. Select the "Duplicate" option. As mentioned above, this usually occurs when you typically use a dual monitor but switch to a single monitor.
