button with sql consult - joomla

I have a button in my website and I want to return a Sql consult when I click it, I have to create a component for this?
How do this in joomla?
Thanks.

Technically, yes, but there is a "Joomla-approved" shortcut using the Joomla Platform. I just answered this for another question, but it applies to your situation as well, so you can refer to it for the details.
In short, these are the steps you'll need to follow
Create a joomla platform file to include in your script (details at the other answer).
Create a your PHP script that includes that file.
Create a link to your PHP file that now has the Joomla environment for your functions, (including SQL executions).

Customize Oracle Access Manager

I would like to know how to change Oracle Access Manager's Login page.
I don't want to build a new custom page but only change a few UI components to the default Oracle page (like images and CSS).
The "login page" I'm talking about is: console/login/LoginForm.jsp, but I cannot find it on my server, does any one know where I can find this LoginForm.jsp??
I'm actually looking for the login/LoginForm.jsp in this Oracle documentation.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
**Please note that I cannot install any additional programs on that server
You don't need to install any additional software on the server, you just need to be able to copy a WAR file to the console extension directory.
You can build the WAR anywhere, that doesn't have to be done on the server. Expand the look and feel template, which will give you the login/login.jsp file you were looking for, make your changes, build the archive and deploy to your server.
Good luck!

Joomla: On extension update: Change table schema (remove column)

I have developed a Joomla extension and in the newest version the need to delete one column from a table belonging to my plugin has arisen.
As far as I know there is no easy way to delete a column in Mysql only if it exists. Therefore, the only possibility I see at the moment to achieve that, would be to use custom php upgrade code, as shown here.
But this problem would seem so common to me, that I would suspect to be an easier solution?
Is there maybe an easy way (provided through Joomla) to execute a schema change only when updating from a particular extension version?
Check Managing Component Updates with Joomla; starting with Joomla 1.6 there is a defined way to execute specific SQL instructions for an upgrade from one version to another. Basically, for each version an SQL file has to be created (even if it's empty or only contains comments) in a specific file structure. The linked article explains the details.

How to make a working Copy of Joomla 1.5

I am running Joomla 1.5
I duplicated the entire Joomla directory from the command line via "cp"
I duplicated the entire MySQL database form within phpMyAdmin
When I run the dup'd site I don't get my selected template, I get the out-of-the-box default template. So I went into Template Manager and made my template the default.
Next the menus are whacky.
So before I proceed to set everything manually, one-by-one, if there something I am missing here as to why when I make an exact copy of everything the new Joomla site does not look exactly like the current one?
Thanks for helping me.
It should work. I assume you followed Copying a Joomla website? Make sure you follow that exactly.
But I strongly recommend using Akeeba backup instead. I use it for all my sites and it just works. It is a free extension that does it all for you. Might take some initial setup but after that you are set.

Component Creation How-to

I want to create a component that will allow me to install other components, modules, and plugins that i personally use all the time. I will need to be able to change these modules, components, and plugins at anytime but updating the components and etc.. that i use and be able to add more plugins and etc as well. I would like this Component because it takes too much time to install them all individually and on multiple sites as a web designer. I also would need to have some instruction on how to add subtract plugins, modules, components, and etc. I am ok with not a total integration i would like to be able to just host the install file on my server with a link to my server where the file is located.
If anyone can help with this please do.
this is not a direct answer more of a personal workaround ( I do this on local host).
I create a site for example Joomlabase, when it asks for DB name call it Joomlabase then add my extensions
then when I need a copy
1) copy and paste the folder named Joomlabase in Windows Explorer to a new name.
2) go into Phpmydmin copy the joomlabase DB to the same name as the new site name.
3) DO a search and replace of Joomlabase to new site name in config.php file (there should be 5 changes) and your done.
For me it saves a lot of time because in admin alone I use at least 12 different extensions
There is a Joomla admin component called "Akeeba". It creates a snapshot of your files and database which you can easily deploy to another server. I use it often when pushing a new site to production from a QA server.

Your question is way too broad, and the simple answer is that it would take much much much more work to maintain this 'super component' than you are currently spending simply installing the extensions separately when you need them.
The other answers here don't answer your question, but they provide some decent solutions to your actual problem.

How to create a Coda plug-in which creates a new site?

I'm using Coda for web developement. I often create new sites in my ~/Sites folder. I always enter the same information in Coda, except for the name of the site, and the directory where it's stored. Is it possible to create a plug-in (in either Cocoa or ShellScript) which automates this (so I don't need to enter all FTP stuff etc... over and over again)?
Thanks in advance.
One easy way to do it: just make a generic site with the things you normally type in. Then
when you want to create a new site, right-click on the generic site and say duplicate. There's no shell script you can write for the process, because you would need access to Coda's inner workings.
#Joshua I think Koning is talking about the process of creating a 'Site' within Coda itself, which looks like this:

There's a plugin for that. It should do what you're looking for. If it doesn't, a similarly-worded Google search turns up this Coda plugin development page.
