Now the XCode is available through app store.
I have a lab setup of around 20 iMacs and XCode size is around 4 GB. Is there any way I can install it one time and using pendrive or drive copy it to other macs and connect/activate/authorize on respective macs.
There has to be some thing.
In some thread I saw that we can download it from connect.apple.com. I logged on and saw the .DMGs. But Xcode 4.4.1.dmg is "1.81GB". How it can be.
I don't have that much bandwidth. 4 GB on 10 systems means 40 GB and the time taken too is imp..
Please Guide.

They've managed to compress Xcode significantly over the last year or so, the .dmg you get from the developer portal will be the way you want to go. It only weighs in at 1.81GB and can be copied to as many computers as you want (provided they are intended to be used by members of the dev program). I just checked on the Mac App Store, and they are distributing Xcode 4.4.1 # 1.6GB.

So I took my laptop (a Lenovo Yoga 2 pro) in to best buy after it had water spilled on it. They said they'd fix it under warranty and I left it with them. A few days later I came to pick it up, but with only one problem. I gave them the laptop with windows ten as it was installed during the free upgrade period. I got the laptop back with windows 8. Best buy basically said tough titties and told me they couldn't do anything. Would I be able to install windows 10 to it with no problem, or would I have to buy a copy. I heard you can install it and use the windows 8 key it came with.
What does everyone think?
So far I know, you can activate and install Windows 10 with the key of your old Windows version only if it's the one with which you upgraded to Windows 10. However it could be also possible to use other keys according to this link. Here is also shown how to reinstall Windows 10.
How to reinstall Windows 10 with your old Windows 7/8/8.1 key
Anyway because it's Windows 10 you also have a digital license which is linked with your account. So it's also possible to reinstall Windows 10 without a product key requiring only to log in with your Microsoft account. You can read yourself, just scroll to the section where it's about how to activate after reinstallation.

Well, I screwed up big time today. The long and the short of it is that I spilled water on my MacBook Pro and the motherboard is shot. However, the hard drive seems to be okay. So I plugged the SATA cable into my PC, win 7 32bit, however I cannot find the drive. I just wanna copy some stuff over. Does anyone have any ideas?
You need to download a driver for windows to view the mac file system... search for an HFS+ driver
Even better, goto an Apple Support community :-)
One example:

there are plenty of others. I used one at home for winXP to write to hfs+

How the software knows that how many times it has been installed? For example we are installing an ativirus (6 installations allowed for 6 systems),on the seventh installation it will not allow to install. How the software knows that it has been installed 6 times before. Please explain its working..
Regards,
David
Most software leaves a counter buried in the Windows registry, or a hidden file somewhere on the drive, which keeps the install count.
Other software would use online activation, and the activation server keeps track of the count.
There's no "standard" method for this.
a) It is maintaining a server process in your network where each installation will report to once its done.
b) This is the most likely scenario: it is reporting to the AV company's servers on the net which does the validation.

I'm deadly interested in Cocoa. I want to begin to study Objective-C and to use Xcode. Please tell me what the minimal (let's say, the cheap one) Mac Model you'd like to recommend me. I am meaning for Xcode 4.
Thank you.
Any Mac you can buy at this moment will be fine. Your cheapest option would probably be the Mac mini if you have a decent screen already. Other good options can be the MacBook 13" (I use this is my main development machine) and iMac of you don't need to be mobile.
Any new Mac. Or any used Intel-based Mac under 3 years old.

Sort of out of the programming realm, but does anyone have a recent waiting time for the Mac App Store? I submitted mine a week ago and still nothing..
Zach
It takes at least 10-15 working days at the moment for a new app or a major update, 4-5 working days for minor updates. Be patient, they are overloaded at the moment.
I am not so sure about Mac App but they take 4-5 Working Days to approve iOS(iPads and iPhones) App Acc.
What's your current status ?
