I'm having a hell of a time installing maven 3.
I have the 3.0.4 source zip. I can't extract it, though, or I get a filename too long error on multiple jars in the zip. I'm running Windows 7.
I can't find ANYTHING about this anywhere else, and I'm starting to wonder if maybe I just have no idea how to install maven in the first place, not that there's something wrong with the zip.
I just ran into the same problem using windows 7 and trying to unzip the source zip from their official website. To solve the problem I just followed ptyx's comment. Instead of using C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation (like their site suggests) I just used C:/Maven
You can 'fix' this by copying the archive in the root of one of your partitions, and then unarchive it into a folder in the same location.

I am trying to install mingw-w64 onto Windows. However I receive an error, "the file has been downloaded incorrectly". Redownloading the setup file again from sourceforge does not fix the problem. Is there an alternative way to install it or am I doing something wrong?

You can directly download the archive of MinGW64 with your chosen configuration :
https://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw-w64/files/mingw-w64/
Once the compressed file downloaded, you have just to extract and copy/paste the MinGW64 folder( with the pre-compiled librairies) to your chosen folder ( in my case : C:\mingw64)
I got same error and solved it, after struggling a few hours. You should download MinGW64 via https://winlibs.com/#download-release.
After downloading, You should unzip mingw64 file to a folder(in my case I unzipped it to c disk; C:\mingw64)
And then you have to set up path. for that follow below steps;
open settings.
Search for Edit environment variables for your
account.
choose path variable and then select edit.
Select New and add the Mingw-w64 folder path(bin folder). In my case, I added (C:\mingw64\bin).
Select OK to save the updated path.
And reopen your cmd, then check if everything is good by typing; gcc --version
Long story short, the official installer is broken and not been fixed for years, so we have to install it manually.

And in the same folder that contains the installer, there's a repository.txt. (about this file)
Take a look at it, the installer basically just download and unzip the build from one of these urls within repository.txt. Choose the url you want and download/upzip it manually. (In my case, I use 8.1.0|x86_64|posix|seh|rev0 setup)
Last, setup the Path environment variable pointing to your unzipped bin folder, let say C:\mingw64\bin, and this should do the trick.
Finally, I solved this problem by downloading this:http://winlibs.com/
GCC 10.1.0 + LLVM/Clang/LLD/LLDB 10.0.0 + MinGW-w64 7.0.0 - release 3 (LATEST)
Win32: 7-Zip archive* | Zip archive

and set the %path%
After that, I still can't execute gcc correctly, but then I solved the problem by adding this environment variable:
"CGO_ENABLED=1"
I encountered the problem when using this golang package: https://github.com/mattn/go-sqlite3
I received the same error. When I re-ran the installer as an adminstrator it was installed successfully.
I also made sure not to add any spaces to the installation path.

So the problem for me was that when I tried to use the .exe installer, it either showed me that,
"the file has been downloaded incorrectly" , or , the /.../bin folder did not have any files in it.
In the link above, the MinGW files (including the /bin files) were manually downloaded and identified properly by the Environment Variables.
The problem is with your internet connection and/or ISP. I'm not great at networking so I'll let others be more specific. I tried installing/downloading it using my mobile's data as wifi hotspot and it worked. Hope it helps
I'm looking to develop an application using gradle, groovy, maven other other products supported by sdkman. I'm using cygwin on a windows 10 machine. All seems good and updates most software packages that are needed. When I get to the point of installing gradle, sdk simply can't download ANY version of gradle. Is this a bug or am I missing something. Here's what I'm getting from my cygwin console.

It seems as though sdk thinks it knows where it is however when it goes to pull it down, it doesn't pull down. Then sdk goes to unpack it and it can't find it. Any advice would be appreciated. Btw, I'm not going through a proxy and everything else seems to install just fine. It is just gradle that has the issue. Also, why is it trying to pull down an old version of gradle (2.14.1)?
I've downloaded the v2.14.1-all version, renamed the file to be gradle-2.14.1.zip.zip and placed it in the /home/Admin/.sdkman/archives/ directory and then did the install for gradle again. This time it found it and installed it as though it had downloaded the correct version. It's a solution for now.
v2.14.1 is the newest version of gradle. See here and here (3 is currently in beta-ish)
The filename .zip.zip seems erroneous. Possibly a defect in sdkman. Unsure if it was you who reported this on github, but: https://github.com/sdkman/sdkman-cli/issues/445
im just starting out with FreeSwitch, i downloaded via git, and am trying to build in VS
all i need i believe are the dlls of mod_managed, as my goal is to manage FS via .net
but i get 248 errors, most look something like this:
Error 5 error C1083: Cannot open source file: '....\jpeg-8d\jaricom.c': No such file or directory D:\FreeSwitch\freeswitch\libs\win32\libjpeg\c1 libjpeg
btw, i searched windows and cannot find any such file anywhere on my pc.
I tried
cleaning the solution first, but it did not help
moving the file to a path without spaces
downloading with autocrlf=false
building on another machine
but none of these steps helped
anybody have any idea?
if i can just download the dlls i need, i wouldnt mind skipping this step altogether

The libjpeg sources are not in the git sources but are normally downloaded during the build process. If you build the entire solution that should not be a problem since it has the project dependencies set: libjpeg.2012 depends on Download libjpg.2012, which means the latter gets built before the first. All Download libjpg.2012 is run a cscript which downloads libjpeg from http://www.ijg.org/files/jpegsrc.v8d.tar.gz (see inside the project file).
So if you do not have the sources, either you are building incorrectly (not in VS for instance, or with a broken solution file) or the download script is broken. In that case, you should inspect the output: I assume it shows errors when it can not download the libs.
I am taking a computer graphics course at my university. I am unable to create 3D graphics using Java since I do not have it properly installed. I downloaded the Java 3D API from Oracle. There is no installer included. Just the raw files j3dcore.jar, j3dutils.jar, and vecmath.jar as well as a few read me files. One of the read me files does contain a link that has instructions for the install. It says I must "Unzip Java 3D 1.5.1 into the "jre" directory of your JDK." Where is my JDK? I found my Java folder System > Library> Java > Extension and moved the files there because I read some other things online. I still get this error message in Eclipse when coding: "Access restriction: the method [whatever] from the type [whatever] is not accessible due to restriction on required library /System/Library/Java/Extensions/j3dutils.jar." But I have this file exactly where it says it should be.
Java 3d version 1.3 is pre-installed in Mac OS X. You shouldn't need to install anything. Perhaps try put things back the way they were?

Firstly i would make sure that all those files have the correct permissions on them... based on the "Access restriction" error, it seems like the problem might have to do with that. From the looks of it, you have them installed in the right place (thats where mine is installed anyway)
this is what mine looks like:
Open a terminal, navigate to the directory you moved the jars to, and use the command:
chmod +x *.jar
+x is a file permission that allows execution of files as programs; files without this permission set will throw errors if you attempt to execute them. Java is technically a bytecode interpreter and jar files are interpreted rather than run, but it's possible that java checks the file permissions manually before loading classes from jars, in which case it would logically fail with an error similar to that which you're reporting.
If you are using eclipse then you can just download the 3d zip file. Move the jars into your project and right click on them. Select add build path. There should be 3 new jars in the referenced libraries.
Where can I get the latest jdk as a zip file. I don't want the jre, I want the full jdk. I can't run exe's or even request windows installer so it's impossible for me to download the .exe and run it. Also I can't access some uploading sites like Drop box or 4shared. Is there any ftp or place that I can get just zipped up jdk? Thanks you very much. Jportable is not good enough, Thanks.

Ideally, Oracle would provide us with the option of downloading the JDK binaries as a ZIP package instead of forcing us to use the Windows installer. But since they don't, why don't you try downloading the ZIP distribution of another Oracle product that already includes a JDK (e.g. Oracle SQLDeveloper). And please be sure to come back here and let us know if this approach worked out for you. I'm sure there are tons of folks out there looking for workaround too.
It's really simple but, you have to make it yourself.
First, download the JDK from the Oracle Website.
Second, extract all the contents using 7zip or other extracting utility.
Third, navigate through the extracted content and use Java's "unpack200" to convert all the ".pack" files (there's a couple of them) into jar files. You can delete the ".pack" files afterwards if desired.
Note: In order to use unpack200 you need to have a JDK installed on the system. Navigate to the jdk1.x.x_xx/bin folder an run the utility from the command line.
Example: unpack200 rt.pack rt.jar

You can install jdk (with installer, uncheck 'public jre' option), zip installation folder.
Then uninstall jdk. Now you have a jdk zip, you can unzip wherever.
I'm using jdk this way on Windows Vista, both jdk 1.6, and 1.7.
I was also facing the same issue - to get a zip version of JDK7 on my PC. Tried to extract the exe installer and was happy to find that I got a set of folders including jdk,jre, lib,bin etc (similar to the set up that you get by running the installer for Jdk8). But my happiness was short lived - Eclipse did not recognize this path as a valid JDK / JRE installation , while I set up the additional Run time environments.
The fix is to run the exe installer and install it in a different path , outside Program files, so that it doesnt mess up your Java home settings or JRE versions for other client programs.
