I saved a publish profile into an .xml along wit all the login info. But when i import this XML to another computer and try to publish, it'll say that my password is incorrect.
What can I do to have the password correctly saved into the publish profile and compatible with other computer?
My guess is that the program purposely obfuscates the passwords using the current PC's "salt" and generates a unique hash. Thus, preventing the passwords from being stolen via the profile publish function.
As mentioned by user1785999, you can save the password in plain text, just add the password element to your .pubxml file:
<UserName>YourName</UserName>
<Password>YourPassword</Password>
If you want the publishing profile to work across different computers, you need to save the password in plain text.
Just to add an additional answer, this may be version specific for .pubxml, but you can add these line to ensure visual studio save the password.
Make sure to use the ".\" prefix for a local account, and "domain\" prefix for an Active Directory account.
<UserName>.\PubUser1</UserName>
<UserPWD>Password1234</UserPWD>
<_SavePWD>True</_SavePWD>

On you Windows machine, the bulk of your Wallet data is stored in ~/AppData/local/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/userdata/default in a file named ledger_state
EDIT: It seems that Brave actually implemented a way to reset the wallet.
Go to Settings > Wallet (in the left column) > Reset Wallet > Type in "Yes"
I've tried to delete different files and found out that after deleting the folder %LocalAppData%\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\Local Extension Settings\odbfpeeihdkbihmopkbjmoonfanlbfcl resets the wallet and you can create a new one. But that doesn't reset the whole wallet thing, normally you have to press a button "I understand" before you can create, restore and so on.
So navigate to chrome://version to check profile location see https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/HEAD/docs/user_data_dir.md
and then delete/rename Local Extension Settings\odbfpeeihdkbihmopkbjmoonfanlbfcl folder, then you can create new wallet. (Of cause old wallet is gone)

What you can do, is to remove C:\Users[your user]\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware.
Then brave lets you setup a new wallet.

I'm trying to set a general password to my app, which means every user will have the same password to enter.
I've tried using the Project's settings - [Application.Current.Setting.Default.settingName] for the password - but then each user [in his own installed app on his PC] would have his own password, and that's not what I'm looking for.
Is there a way to set a 'general' setting to all app's instances? My project uses VSTS as well, if there's an option from there.
(I see there's a service called 'Web settings', is that it? If so, would you give me an usage example?)

The good way is that you can store password (can be encrypted) in the configuration file, such as app.config, web.config, then read it from configuration file before use it.
You may replace the password before deploy your app through Replace Token step (VSTS build/release)

One of the easiest ways to get rid of this is to supply a username and password for the database in question on the reporting server. The URL is usually something like http://localhost/reports. Usually, users created for this type of connection have minimal read-only rights needed for the specific report. The disadvantages to this type of connection is that it's a one-user-fits-all situation. But because of the error message you are getting, it appears that your wish is to supply a specific user name and password rather than use Windows security--which is just fine.
To get here, click Security from the report drop-down list on the main page. Then, click the Credentials stored securely on the report server. Then, here's an issue that get's lots of folks--click the Apply button at the bottom to save the changes. Sometimes the Apply button is not visible and you need to scroll down to click it.

I have not figure out how to solve this from the database. What I did was, comment out this line of code from the XML of the report:

If you have the correct credential info in the <value> tag, your report should be loaded with username and password parameters without problems.
I know that technically, this question should be asked on phpStorm's forums, but being a popular IDE (I bet an eventual solution would also work for other popular IDEs from JetBrains), I'm thinking:

If you use KeePass database file to store passwords, you can easely set password for that file, save and then open in KeePass manager, or migrate to other PHPStorm.
Go to Settings/Preferences | Appearance & Behavior | System Settings
| Passwords, enter new master password and save.

Retrieve saved (hidden) SSH password from PhpStorm 2017.1
One way that just worked for me was to install Wireshark.
Use a capture filter of 'ftp', and do a "Test connection" inside PHPStorm.
Now stop the capture and examine what you've sniffed. The password will be in there.
I know this is a 1 year old question, but for everyone else, you can try to copy the selected (hidden) password with CTRL+C, and paste it in a text document (tested with 2016.3 on Debian).
For OSX users
Open keychain -> select the System Roots keychain (on the left side) -> search for IntelliJ.
If you click it you will see the ftp-username in the "Account" field. You can also use right click on the records to copy the password.
I'm trying to keep usernames and passwords for a cucumber project out of version control.
Is there a way to manually pass variables on the command line like usernames and passwords to a cucumber script?
My backup plan was to put them in a YML file and add that file to the gitignore so they aren't put in version control.

cucumber PASSWORD=my_password
PASSWORD is set as an environment variable and you can use its value by referring to it as ENV['PASSWORD']. For an example, browser.text_field(:id => 'pwd').set ENV['PASSWORD']
Another way is indirect.
What I did in past was to pass profile name and that profile will do something that I want. So, for example, I have a profile name as firefox and a firefox profile in cucumber.yml has a variable named BROWSER_TYPE with its value assigned to firefox. And this variable (BROWSER_TYPE) is used by my method that opens the browser. If its value is firefox, than this method opens firefox browser.
So, what I did here was -
Pass a profile. Name of the profile is firefox
firefox profile is defined in cucumber.yml. You can any thing with the profiles, but in this case, I define a variable named BROWSER_TYPE and assign its value as firefox.
Then I have a method that uses BROWSER_TYPE variable and uses its value to open browser.
Code for these steps -
cucumber -p firefox
My cucumber.yml file looks like
firefox: BROWSER_TYPE=firefox PLATFORM=beta
My method to open browser looks similar to -
#browser = Watir::Browser.new ENV['BROWSER_TYPE']
So, ideally you can create a profile that sets an environment variable with password, and pass that profile name to cucumber.
Two thoughts:
1) I've had the same concern, and I created some shell scripts (Mac an Unix) that store credentials in a directory off ~ that are encrypted with machine-specific passwords. I can then use "Given the credentials named blah" in my Cucumber scenarios and then use #username = testcred get #{credname} username #username = testcred get #{credname} password in my step definitions to make this work with no chance that my credentials are ever anyplace they could mistakenly get into a repo. 2) Lastpass has a command line version that works. I've also played with sharing my test credentials with a LastPass account that's used for just test credentials. I've used the credstore stuff above to store the lastpass master password for that account (never for my real master password) and then used the lastpass command line to get the usernames and passwords. This has the advantage of when I change the credentials in Lastpass, they get updated automatically everywhere they're used
