Remote connections with Zend Studio - magento

I was looking for an IDE that will allow me to import all the necessary files to develop and debug Magento modules and found Zend Studio came recommended. I am having trouble connecting to my ftp to download the files. I created a remote connection using all of the credentials I had on Filezilla and when I test the connection it will succeed. Now when I go to the next step it tells me:
The project directory you have entered does not exist on the server.
Please enter a valid project directory
The host name matches my ftp server, username and password are valid, the directory I'm connecting to exists on the server, and I'm on port 21 which is not interrupted by my firewall. I don't know if I should stick with Zend or not and I haven't been able to properly test it. Any advice on fixing this issue or any other IDE recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Double-check that. Note, that the path you enter is relative:
there's a "Initial Directory" in "Remote Connection Profile", and "Project Directory" in project properties->"Remote Server Support"

netbeans create .new file instead of overwrite it

I'm tring to work on php project using NetBeans v8.1 with remote server connection.
I've tried active mode but when saving the file it gives me this error:
I won't open a connection to 192.168.1.100 (only to 197.133.xxx.xx)
So I changed the connection mode to passive mode.
When I try to save the file to upload, a new file created on the server directory with .new extension (ex. index.php.new) and it's empty, and Netbeans gives me this error:
Upload files on save failed.
For the information: My FTP encryption: "Explicit FTP using TLS"
And when I Press on "Test Connection", it gives me "connection succeeded"

I just had the same issue and it appears to be a server communication issue using TLS in passive mode.
Try ticking the box "Encrypt Only Authentication Process" - did the trick for me :)

How to setup FTP on xampp

i want to make a server using xampp. i have already installed xampp and setting port 8080. php and mysql work fine but i can't access ftp from internet. Can you please suggest way how can I do this?
XAMPP comes preloaded with the FileZilla FTP server. Here is how to setup the service, and create an account.
Enable the FileZilla FTP Service through the XAMPP Control Panel to make it startup automatically (check the checkbox next to filezilla to install the service). Then manually start the service.
Create an ftp account through the FileZilla Server Interface (its the essentially the filezilla control panel). There is a link to it Start Menu in XAMPP folder. Then go to Users->Add User->Stuff->Done.
Try connecting to the server (localhost, port 21).
XAMPP for linux and mac comes with ProFTPD. Make sure to start the service from XAMPP control panel -> manage servers.

Open a new Linux terminal and ensure you are logged in as root.
Create a new group named ftp. This group will contain those user accounts allowed to upload files via FTP.
groupadd ftp
Add your account (in this example, susan) to the new group. Add other users if needed.
usermod -a -G ftp susan
Change the ownership and permissions of the htdocs/ subdirectory of the XAMPP installation directory (typically, /opt/lampp) so that it is writable by the the new ftp group.
cd /opt/lampp
chown root.ftp htdocs
chmod 775 htdocs
Ensure that proFTPD is running in the XAMPP control panel.
You can now transfer files to the XAMPP server using the steps below:
Start an FTP client like winSCP or FileZilla and enter connection details as below.
If you’re connecting to the server from the same system, use
"127.0.0.1" as the host address. If you’re connecting from a different
system, use the network hostname or IP address of the XAMPP server.
Use "21" as the port.
Enter your Linux username and password as your FTP credentials.
Your FTP client should now connect to the server and enter the /opt/lampp/htdocs/ directory, which is the default Web server document root.
Transfer the file from your home directory to the server using normal FTP transfer conventions. If you’re using a graphical FTP client, you can usually drag and drop the file from one directory to the other. If you’re using a command-line FTP client, you can use the FTP PUT command.
Once the file is successfully transferred, you should be able to see it in action.
I launched ubuntu Xampp server on AWS amazon.
And met the same problem with FTP, even though add user to group ftp SFTP and set permissions, owner group of htdocs folder.
Finally find the reason in inbound rules in security group, added All TCP, 0 - 65535 rule(0.0.0.0/0,::/0) , then working right!
On XAMPP click "Start" and after "Admin".
Login to localhost (127.0.0.1) without password, with second port, not with 21.
Add users and passwords, change your settings. Quit.

Downloading a file from FTP using kettle

I was trying to download a file form FTP server(Remote machine) using pentaho kettle (Get a file with FTP), I can able to do that in my local machine. But when i try to deploy the app in jboss web server it fails to download resulting in a error "Error getting files from FTP : Login incorrect."
But everything seems to be correct regarding the login details.
Did i have configure any where else in the server? Please help.
There are several things you could check in this case:
Check that the security settings of the remote FTP server allows for the machine that runs the job to establish an FTP connection. If you have access to the server, try the following command to ensure that the server has access:
telnet <your-remote-ftp-server-host> 21
# Or try:
telnet <your-remote-ftp-server-host> 22
Verify that the remote FTP server respects FTP connection requests, otherwise try SFTP (Get a file with FTP & Get a file with SFTP are two entirely different job steps in Kettle)
Wherever you are fetching your FTP credentials from (ideally a configuration file), test that the credentials are properly read by the job in the relevant scope - use the Write To Log step for that matter

Postgresql is not allowed to be connected remotely

Could someone help take a look this weird problem? I'm still not able to connect remotely to my Postgresql.
My Steps:
Download and install the latest Postgresql to my local machine
Setup postgresql
Create a DB
Modify "pg_hba", add row "host all all 0.0.0.0/0 md5"
Modify "postgresql.conf", make sure "listen_addresses = '*'"
Restart postgresql service
Open local PgAdmin, and connect to DB <-- Success!
From Remote desktop, do the same thing as #7 <-- Failed!
Error Message:
"Server doesn't listen"
"Could not connect to server......accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432?"
I found "TCP 0.0.0.0:5432 Listening" when I type "netstat -a"
I checked firewall, it's not enabled
......
Can someone please help? Does anyone encounter this situation?
P.S, my os is Winserver 2008

If you're connecting to the local machine via RDP then you'll be connecting via localhost and no firewall or LAN/WAN/NAT settings should affect pgadmin.
When you edit the pg_hba and postgresql.conf files Server 2008 doesn't usually let you edit them directly where they are. I usually copy them out edit them and then paste them back in. You'll need to authorise the paste from an Admin account.
I usually have a separate rule in "pg_hba" with "host all all 127.0.0.1/32 md5" for local connections. Also ensure when you restart the service that it is running under the user "postgres" and not as some other user.

ora-12154 could not resolve... with oracle instant client

Here are the details:
I installed the oracle instant client 11.2.0.2.0 from the OTN download page on a windows 7 64 bit vm (vmware).
I am trying to to connect to a remote oracle database, and I can successfully connect with one program using TNS, but not with SQL*Plus and other applications.
Trying to connect with SQL*Plus, using schema#servicename, password, etc, gives the above error.
To connect via SQL Developer, normally I would use the basic connection info and not rely on tnsnames, but trying a normal connection gives me: io error: unknown host specified. SQL Developer can successfully connect and query database if i use the TNS protocol.
Trying from other programs gives me the same error I got with SQL*Plus. Same when trying with the service name from tnsnames.
This is obviously quite frustrating for it to work one way and not the other. I followed all the normal instructions for using the instant client, the directory with instantclient has been addded to the PATH, a TNS_ADMIN entry has also been created, with the directory to the tnsnames.ora file
Well, on a whim, I went to changing everything in my setup to match an windows 2003 server that i had setup with instant client before. The main changes were putting the instant client in a folder at the root of the drive (not program files/oracle/etc), but c:/oracle, i know ive seen other posts saying that oracle was particular about characters in the directory path, maybe spaces are a no-no too?
I also add a bunch more environmental variables, anythign that was on the other machine, ORACLE_HOME (to root of instance), SQL_PATH (same), and added the root of the directory to the PATH system variable, not just the folder with the instantclient files. Anyways, I'm happy its working, anyone one of these changes could have been it though-
You may use ProcessMonitor and look at what your sqlplus process is doing. In my case TNS_ADMIN was correctly defined but, by mistake, my tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora had a stupid ".txt" extension, added by default by notepad when I created those files. And because "Windows Explorer" has the "Hide extensions for known file types" option set by default, the naming error wasn't obvious at all.
I installed the 12.1 instant client. For me, the problem was solved by creating \network\admin\tnsnames.ora file. Here's the PowerShell I used:
