I am looking to create jpg/png buttons with text as various language names. But the online tools don't seem to recognize the non-english words like language names for arabic, thai and hindi etc.
I tried http://dabuttonfactory.com/ with text as name of the language in local characters and all I see is ??????.
Any pointer or online resource to create non-css image buttons would be of great help?
Thanks in advance.
The issue is with the fonts. The online tool you mentioned has limited fonts and none of them support the scripts you want to create buttons for. I just searched around and found this service which apparently has a wider variety of fonts and also lets you to upload your own font. The caveat is that it seems to be a paid service.

I've tried searching for the answer to this but am coming up blank.
In sublime text, it's possible to have different themes for different file types as specified in the preferences file. For example, you can have a light coloured theme for Markdown/Plain text files and a normal Monokai type theme for all other languages. I find this very useful as I prefer to have different fonts and settings when typing compared to when coding.
As far as I can see, this functionality isn't present in VSCode. Am I wrong or is there a way to achieve the above?
It's now possible to do using an extension called "Theme by language" from Julien Saulou. It can be downloaded from Visual Studio Code Marketplace.
You are right, there is no way to do that.
You can however, define different themes (color and icon) for each workspace (Preferences: Open Workspace Settings). It's not exactly what you are looking for, but it may be useful if your different languages are located/related in different workspaces.
in windows 7, after installed Komodo Edit, i tried to change filetype icon using FileTypesMan from NirSoft, but as weird as it is, as soon as I change desription for .js it changes to the same too for .php and vice-versa the other way too. My guess is, maybe Komodo added it to some file types group, but dunno how to diferentiate them? My primary goal is to have a custom php icon for php and js files (each one different)
any experience anyone, or suggestions?
Newer heard before of such binding between different file extensions
Unfortunately Komodo uses your system file icons so it does not have direct control over what language icons you see. If you'd want to change those icons you would have to do it at the system level.
Note that we will most likely be using our own language icons in one of our next releases, which should solve issues like the one you are having.
Note that if you're feeling really adventurous you could develop an addon or customize the source directly (available at https://github.com/Komodo/KomodoEdit). Feel free to join us on IRC if you have any questions - #komodo on irc.mozilla.org.

I have to use Adobe InDesign for creating documents. We basically need to have a couple variables throughout the document (company name, project name, etc) that need to be filled in.
I was wondering if there is a way to take an existing template and maybe programmatically fill these in using a language I'm comfortable with (Ruby, Python, etc). I have tried to open the Adobe InDesign file using a text editor - but when I make modifications using Notepad++ and then open the file in InDesign, it tells me the file is corrupted.
If you have any insight with programmatically building InDesign documents or know of any tutorials that would be much appreciated.
P.S. I tried to check out Adobe's ExtendScript but wasn't finding much documentation applying to InDesign.
Thanks for the help!
There is no (legal) way to do this in Ruby/Python. Theoretically it is possible to edit InDesign documents directly using any language but:
It's nowhere near as easy as just making some text modifications, you would have to figure out more about the format, and
It's in direct violation of the InDesign license agreement meaning you could face legal action if Adobe finds out.
ExtendScript is perfect for doing small things like this. If you open up ExtendScript Toolkit and set the target to InDesign you can browse and search the entire API easily. Doing search/replace for simple text variables is not hard at all.
An alternative would be exporting the documents to the .idml language which is easier and legal to edit outside of InDesign.
You can use the DataMerge-feature of Indesign --> https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/data-merge.html
I think this is exactly what you are looking for.
Or you can use the Indesign API. Have a look at Extendscript-Toolkit especially the ObjectModell-Viewer.
You need to convert your .indd file to .idml and unzi it.
In /Stories/Story_*.idml you may found all text variables.
And no easy ways to change text variables in .indd without Adobe products.
I need to edit the original icons from Thunderbird's Default Theme by Arvid Axelsson.
Does Mozilla provides an SVG version?
I need to know the style of the icons, because they're really specific (inner-shadow etc). It's not a simple -moz-effect (CSS). Does anybody know where to find or download the real skin-source or how to view files inside chrome://global/skin?
There are actually three default themes - Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. You seem to be talking about the Windows theme which is indeed being attributed to Arvid Axelsson even though he doesn't seem to be working on it (looks like he created the theme around Thunderbird 1.0 and other people took over since).
Looking at the source code repository, the icons are there but their source code isn't. I also checked the bugs associated with icon changes and the source code of these icons indeed doesn't seem to be public. Which means that the only way for you would be contacting the person who designed the icons. That would be Andreas Nilsson, click his name in bug 671236 to send him a mail.
i'm trying to extract the icon that shown in vista for pdf and word files. is there anyways for me to do so? also, the icon i want is the big one (128px by 128px probably?)

Using something like this? Unless you mean using code of course, in, you know, a programming language?
Adobe provide icons here, with appropriate licensing restrictions. I don't know if MS provide a similar thing for Word.
C:\Windows\Installer\{90120000-0030-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}\wordicon.exe
I found the icon in above file path in my computer.
