I was told that my .net framework might be reinstalled to solve this problem
I tried but in vain

I use VS Code as my IDE. Today I saw in my C# files that I could no longer use things like "Go To Definition/Implementations" or hover over anything to get the path/type etc.
I found my Omnisharp console and saw they updated last night and there is an error:
Error: Found dotnet version 5.0.201. Minimum required version is 6.0.100.
I can't upgrade my dotnet because 6.0 is not compatible with the runtime in my project and on Mac M1, there are a lot of issues running multiple dotnet instances..
I guess its a bit of a rock and a hard place, anyone know how I can get around this issue?
This is a recent update to Omnisharp, which is used by the VS Code C# extension. Add this to your settings and restart the editor.
"omnisharp.useModernNet": false,
"omnisharp.path": "",
Also if you don't have Visual Studio installed you will likely need to install the Build Tools to get MSBuild:
My understanding of the rationale behind this change is an optimization for modern vanilla c# projects over those using older versions (ie Unity). More info in this issue.
Revert your Omnisharp to previous version
Update 1.25.0 introduces newer OmniSharp build for .NET 6 which does not support non SDK style .NET projects but results in performance improvements.
Fortunately you can disable this in the settings:
C# Extension Settings
Also, the C# extension no longer ships with an included Mono & MSBuild Tools. Download them here: Build Tools
Worst case, you can revert to an older extension version.
Go to extensions in VS Code and search for C# Extension
VS Code Extensions
Go to C# Extension settings
C# Extension Settings
Disable "Use Modern Net" option.
Modern Net Option
Restart VS Code
I haved similar problem and i fixed like this:
Im using win7 and i have VS 2019 IDE which not supporting dotnet 6 cuz of that vs_installer not installing dotnet6 sdk, in result i cant use c# extension v1.25.0 in vs code, because omnisharp needs net6. I installed net 6 sdk to my win7 and problem is solved, now i can use c# extension v1.25.0 in vs code.
I am trying to create plugin for MicroStation, using .net framework following this tutorial :
https://communities.bentley.com/products/programming/microstation_programming/w/wiki/52303/introduction-and-prerequisite
I have those installed on my PC (windows 10 x64):
However when I try to create a new project in visual studio, there is no option relative to Bentley or Microstation.
Is there anything missing in my configuration ?
Thanks in advance
I found the answer myself :
In addition to what is listed in the tutorial, you need to install the extension "VS 2019 Tools for MicroStation CONNECT Edition", which can be found in the extension market inside VS.
I am moving towards Xamarin for cross-platform application development. I already had VS2015 installed, I downloaded Xamarin tools(vstoolsforxamarin.exe) from their website and when I install them after a long wait VS says "setup completed with errors"and it does not download and install Android SDK for API 19,20,23, It always say:"Please check your internet connection and try again" and i am sure that my internet connection doesn't get disturbed during all this process. I have tried this 3 times now, tried by uninstalling VS2015, installing it again but got the same error. What is the problem that is causing this? I already have Android Studio installed, with its SDK manager. Any help would be appreciated, that to get Xamarin running in VS2015.
EDIT:
Solution:
I already had Android Studio and its SDK on my system, going to Tools>Options>Xamarin from Visual Studio and giving path of the Android SDK solved my problem. Read this answer on StackOverflow somewhere!
Seems like this issue is caused because Visual Studio is trying to download thrid-party libraries (Android SDK). You can fix this from Control-Panel
Have a look at this post.
Make sure you have installed Java JDK, I had similar issue reported here
Visual Studio 2015 Enterprise Reports Internet Connectivity Issue while there is no issues with networking
As mwilson64 answered in response to Android SDK Setup API not installed (same as linked above on "Have a look at this post."), my steps to resolve:
Create file %USERPROFILE%.android\androidtool.cfg
Paste the following into new file (created in step 1):
# Settings for Android Tool
# Last updated: Wed May 19 17:09:27 UTC 2017
http.proxyPort=8888
sdkman.enable.previews=false
http.proxyHost=127.0.0.1
sdkman.ask.adb.restart=false
sdkman.show.update.only=true
sdkman.force.http=false
sdkman.use.dl.cache=true
Replace values in proxyPort and proxyHost with your company's proxy settings.

I'm a Linux developer trying to get started on Windows development in my new job. I knew it would not be trivial but the first thing I'm trying to do is complete and integrate a netvmini port driver (started by a co-op student) into one of their C++ apps. I am struggling to get the build environment going...
The project was started in Visual Studio 2013 with a Windows 7 target. When I now open it in Visual Studio 2015 and try to build the solution I get:
"Unknown or unsupported property value Win7 for TargetVersion"
for each project. This also happens if I set the configuration to Win8 (both release and debug). If I set it to Win 8.1 I get:
"An SDK corresponding to WDK version '8.1' was not found. Please install the SDK before building"
I have installed every WDK and SDK I can lay my hands on from Windows 7 to Windows 10 using both the web and the VS2015 installer. I have even installed Visual Studio 2013 again but I can't even seem to get the WDK to integrate with that.
The end goal here is to be able to build this (and hopefully debug remotely in kernel mode) from my Windows 10/VS2015 workstation for targets from Windows 7-10. Any advice or documentation that details how to integrate new build platforms into VS would be helpful (all the MS documentation just tells me what I can do if I install this or that, but not HOW to do it)
I also had the same problem after running the Project Upgrade tool.
I discovered when making new configurations that "Win7" and "Win8" TargetVersion are now "Windows7" and "Windows8".
The upgrade tool does not make that change for you but I was able to manually edit my upgraded project with those changes and got it to build for all targets.
I discovered that the installer doesn't install the windows 10 SDK by default. So all the installing of other SDK's was useless. I Also found out that by installing the Win 10 SDK through the VS 2015 installer it integrates and allows me to build for targets back to windows 7 in VS 2015.
I am learning archicad and trying to open an existing example from API Development Kit in VS Express C++ 2013. I have installed SDK 7.1. in order to 64 development as VS Express doesn't run it by default. I am having trouble to run the example.
However, I installed all the necessary components and programs. This error window pops up all the time I try to run. I really have no clue how to make an archicad sample project run in VS C++ Express 2013.
The third line in Russian is translated as: "Impossible to find the designated folder".
I copied the API DevKit folder into the VS Express folder, doesn't help.
Please, help if someone faced such a problem or does all this stuff.
P.S. I need to run ArchiCAD in VS C++ Express.
This is the print screen:
As a former Archicad API developer, I would definitely recommend you to use Visual Studio 2005 Express.This specific version (assuming you are developing for AC12 and above), is compatible with the API (I developed for AC13 and AC15, it worked fine). That is also recommended by Graphisoft itself.
for further information:
http://www.archicadwiki.com/Developer/Getting%20Started%20with%20the%20API%20DevKit#Getting_Started_with_the_API_DevKit
You have to check the encoding of APIdefs_Automate.h. If it is ANSI, it will fail. The encoding must be UTF-8.
For older archicad projects you had to use vs2010. For the new 21 they upgraded to vs2015. To use vs2015 in older projects you have to have vs2010 installed to use it's v100 platform toolset. Then when you open an older project with the new visual studio, it asks for upgrading the project, here say no and you are good to go.
