Magento 1.9 translations not working - magento

I have a weird problem. I made some translations for my Magento shop (using .csv files) and my translation for Add to Wishlist suddenly disappeared.
I've not change anything in .csv files since this translation working and in .csv translation is correct.
In table core_translation I haven't got any translation for this. Labels in code are not changed.
Where else can store magento translation?
P.S. Reindex store and clear Cache didn't help

You have put the csv file inside module folder or theme folder?
The priority order of translation is
from database
from theme
from module
So if the translation entry is present both in module and the theme folder, the module entry will be replaced by the theme entry

Magento is ignoring my changes in html files

I am trying to update cart page in Magento, and more specifically files from web/template/cart. I copied all these files to my custom theme, but somehow all changes are ignored and Magento still using files from vendor. It only happens to html file - phtml are updating correctly.
Tried to clear cache etc. but without any success.
Any ideas?
What file are you editing? Put some example for the name and directory. If the changes not applied so don´t rewritting the files.

How to add Magento extension in other theme except default

I want to add extension - All Category Product Carousel in my Magento Website and it has RWD theme. The components of the extension are by default installing in:
app/design/frontend/default/default/layout
app/design/frontend/default/default/template
skin/frontend/default/default
I have moved the components in my theme folder i.e. RWD, and components are now in the following folders:
app/design/frontend/rwd/default/layout
app/design/frontend/rwd/default/template
skin/frontend/rwd/default
But after this also the extension is not working. I am new to Magento so does not know much things about it. Does anything else be done?
The products are there but css and js is not getting applied on them. The data is showing like: Please View Here
You can paste your extension key here. Now you can check if you have copied all the files to RWD.
The extension tell to insert below block in cms page. Include it in your cms->home page.
{{block type="pcarousel/pcarousel" pcarousel_id="carousel id" template="pcarousel/pcarousel.phtml"}}
After that navigate to system->permission->blocks->Add new block and add the type pcarousel/pcarousel there and allow it.
The css and js files were not loading in the main page, have added them externally. Now working

how to remove in PDF invoice generated in Magento

Hello Megento Experts,
I am a beginner in magento. I have set up a magento store. Now, when admin generated a PDF Ivoice for the orders, there are symbols in place of space. As in screenshot below.
Please help me removing these symbols.
Thanks in advance.
In default magento generates the invoice pdf from the class Mage_Sales_Model_Order_Pdf_Invoice.
If you check in the file location
app\code\core\Mage\Sales\Model\Order\Pdf\Invoice.php
You can see that.
But in your case, it seems that the file has been changed. This file may have been overridden or overwritten in your local folder. Search for the same file location in your local folder
app\code\local
You may find the file.
If it is there, check for &nbsp in that file.
Hope this will help.

Magento - Editing phtml files in adminhtml folder having no effect

When I make a change to “app/design/adminhtml/default/default/template/page/head.phtml” or other files in the adminhtml folders, the changes I make have no effect on the site. The site seems to be using old versions of my files but I have no idea where it is getting them from. I have deleted the cache multiple times and logged in/out of admin. I’ve also managed to turn on path hints in the admin panel and can see that the correct files are being used but the code in the files is incorrect. If I rename the file to _head.phtml then as you'd expect, the styling, js and meta tags etc go missing but when I make a simple edit to that same file the change is not reflected.
I recently upgraded from 1.6.2 to 1.7 - Am I missing something?

Does magento touch theme folders during updates

I am working on a Magento project and it is due an update; so I am wondering which folders will it replace/affect during an update. I am used to working with wordpress which leaves the entire 'wp-content' folder ( all the user data ) untouched during an update - I presume magento does something similar and doesnt overwrite custom theme files, media uploads (and hopefully not products and user data anyway) but then I read the following from this page which confuses me
For several of the first Magento themes I built, I copied the layout files from the default or blank theme into the custom theme layout folder. I would then modify the layout files directly, editing or commenting out content in files like: catalog.xml, page.xml, checkout.xml, etc… I never liked editing these files directly, as I knew that when it came time to upgrade to a newer version of Magento that had upgraded the layout files, I’d have to merge the changes into the new layout files.
I think I may just have a mistunderstanding specifically about layout files but all the same could someone clarify for me which locations (if any) that I might expect to loose data from during an update ( so that hopefully I can avoid using these locations )
You won't loose any data if you have made your edits in custom theme package/folder and not in core code (but in tyour own extensions and code/local code-pool). However as you mentioned yourself it would be wise to merge your theme to be based on new layout files and same goes for template files as well
you can use a diff tool for that that can compare entire folder structures (winmerge, things and so on) and compare your theme and base theme folders
lets clarify things
whatever you change in code do it by making extensions in app/code/local/ or app/code/community
by merging your theme based on = if new version of magento is available and your theme is based on old version layout files and templates eq you have copied layouts and templates and modified them then it is wise to compare all changed files against new ones and apply your changes on top of new layout and template files
