Hi i am trying to install ant build system on my mac running latest version of OSX and i get this error:
brew install ant
==> Downloading http://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi?path=ant/binaries/apache-ant-1.9.4-bin.tar.gz
Error: Failed to download resource "ant"
Download failed: Couldn't determine mirror, try again later.
Not sure what the issue is as all examples i have seen stated that the above should work fine?
i even tried a brew update and still get the same error.
Any suggestions?

I am using instructions from this site to install Anchor on my Windows laptop
https://book.anchor-lang.com/getting_started/installation.html#anchor
I have executed the command avm install latest and it gave this error:
Error: The system cannot find the file specified. (os error 2)
And the next command avm use latest returns this error:
Version 0.25.0 is not installed, no current version. Error: You need to run 'avm install 0.25.0' to install it before using it.
What should I do?
Try running the install command like this: cargo install --git https://github.com/project-serum/anchor --tag v0.26.0 anchor-cli --locked
I'm not 100% sure why this works, however, I was running into the same exact problem. If you specify the version via the --tag flag (v0.26.0 would be where you replace with the version you're interested in) and change the command from avm to anchor-cli it seems to work.
I'm trying to install Homebrew on macOS. Once the installation finished, when I typed help I got:
Already downloaded: /.../Library/Caches/Homebrew/portable-ruby-2.6.3.mavericks.bottle.tar.gz
Error: Checksum mismatch.

To retry an incomplete download, remove the file above.
Error: Failed to install Homebrew Portable Ruby (and your system version is too old)!
I had the same question, and the solution is simple: remove the portable-ruby-2.6.3.mavericks.bottle.tar.gz you downloaded before.
rm /.../Library/Caches/Homebrew/portable-ruby-2.6.3.mavericks.bottle.tar.gz
Try running brew update-reset in your terminal and then run brew upgrade in the same terminal.
"Homebrew install fails with Error: Failed to install Homebrew Portable Ruby" helped me tremendously.
It would fail to install, because our company firewall was blocking certain downloads, like bottle, during the Homebrew update/install, but it was difficult to determine this because I would get the error above.
After removing the file, try
brew upgrade
brew update
on your personal Wifi or your phone's hotspot.
I fixed it.
First, I deleted the brew file that stores in the Library folder when using macOS.
The failure before was due to the connection. When I make sure the connection worked, it worked.
Remove the Homebrew Portable Ruby tar.gz from your Mac using:
rm <the path.tar.gz>
rm -rf <the path.tar.gz>
I've been automating this for years. There is a new something(?) in play during the Homebrew install.
I had the same error as above. I filed an issue report and got a response that fixed my problem:
CI=1 /bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/HEAD/install.sh)"
I'm not sure what prefixing with CI=1 does but all my automation issues went away.
To retry an incomplete download, remove the file above, then run:
rm /.../Library/Caches/Homebrew/portableruby-2.6.3.mavericks.bottle.tar.gz
and try again
my problem was:
Already downloaded: ../Library/Caches/Homebrew/portable-ruby-2.6.8_1.el_capitan.bottle.tar.gz
==> Pouring portable-ruby-2.6.8_1.el_capitan.bottle.tar.gz
Error: Failed to install ruby 2.6.8_1!
Error: Failed to install Homebrew Portable Ruby (and your system version is too old)!
Fixed with opening the system app for terminal and installing Rosetta into the prompt. This happened after system update MacOS to 11.6.7
After resolving this brew did brew upgrade finish well.
Hope this helps someone.
Here is how I fixed it:
brew cleanup then brew upgrade
Due to the restrictions, I was not allowed to install any packages from internet. So, This command is not useful for me inorder to install search-guard.
bin/elasticsearch-plugin install -b com.floragunn:search-guard-ssl:<version>
However, I am able to install Search Guard successfully on a different network by running the above command.
Because of this reason, I tried installing Search Guard from tar.gz or zip file by the below command as per documentation.
/usr/share/elasticsearch# bin/elasticsearch-plugin install file:///home/xxxx/xxxx/search-guard-5-5.2.0-10-sgadmin-standalone.zip
This one is failing with the below error.
-> Downloading file:///home/xxx/xxxx/search-guard-5-5.2.0-10- sgadmin-standalone.zip
[=================================================] 100%
ERROR: `elasticsearch` directory is missing in the plugin zip
I downloaded zip/tar.gz from this maven repository of search gaurd.
Is anyone also facing the same issue. If not, kindly help in solving this one.
Download this file from maven to /home/xxxx:
https://oss.sonatype.org/content/repositories/releases/com/floragunn/search-guard-5/5.2.0-11/search-guard-5-5.2.0-11.zip
Install it:
bin/elasticsearch-plugin install -b file:///home/xxxx/search-guard-5-5.2.0-11.zip
Other releases are available here: https://oss.sonatype.org/content/repositories/releases/com/floragunn/
I have tried the online and offline instructions for installing marvel and sense, but nothing works. I have ES 2.2.1 and Kibana 4.4.2
I tried
plugin install marvel-agent
but i get
Installing marvel-agent...
Trying https://download.elastic.co/elasticsearch/release/org/elasticsearch/plugin/marvel-agent/2.2.0/marvel-agent-2.2.0.zip ...
ERROR: failed to download out of all possible locations..., use --verbose to get detailed information
same error for
bin/plugin install license
bin/kibana plugin --install elasticsearch/marvel/latest
so then i tried downloading the files and follow instructions on
https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/marvel/current/installing-marvel.html#offline-installation
i tried
plugin install file:///C:/Users/xyz/ElasticSearch/zips/marvel-agent-2.2.0.zip
but i get
-> Installing from file:/C:/Users/xyz/ElasticSearch/zips/marvel-agent-2.2.0.zip...
Trying file:/C:/Users/xyz/ElasticSearch/zips/marvel-agent-2.2.0.zip ...

Verifying file:/C:/Users/xyz/ElasticSearch/zips/marvel-agent-2.2.0.zip checksums if available ...
NOTE: Unable to verify checksum for downloaded plugin (unable to find .sha1 or .md5 file to verify)
same for
plugin install file:///C:/Users/xyz/ElasticSearch/zips/license-2.2.0.zip
and finally for
kibana plugin --install marvel --url file:///C:/Users/xyz/ElasticSearch/zips/marvel-2.2.0.tar.gz
i get
Installing marvel
Attempting to transfer from file:///C:/Users/xyz/ElasticSearch/zips/marvel-2.2.0.tar.gz
Error: ENOTFOUND
Plugin installation was unsuccessful due to error "No valid url specified."
Please point out what i am doing wrong.
For me, the last installation instruction required a different format for the url.
file://c:/Temp/ElasticSearch/marvel-2.2.1.tar.gz. Basically, remove one of the forward slashes.
download the Sense tar file from the following link: https://download.elasticsearch.org/elastic/sense/sense-latest.tar.gz
open cmd form kibana\bin location
then you can install Sense using the following command:
kibana plugin -i sense -u file:PATH_TO_SENSE_TAR_FILE
Simple brew install v8 command is giving me the following results.

Found this! Seems to be an issue with AnyConnect.
https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/113717/svn-cant-co-source-code
I ran sudo /opt/cisco/anyconnect/bin/websecurity_uninstall.sh and voila
I've got the same probleme, but I found another solution.
Simply reinstalling svn :
brew install svn
Removing old version :
rm /usr/local/bin/svnversion
Recreate link :
brew link subversion
And then install v8
brew install v8
I got yet another solution: my xcode installation was brand new and I never accepted the terms and conditions. Just try to execute $ svn and the terms and conditions of xcode will prompt
