I am new to SNMP. As far as I know snmpd is a Linux daemon for SNMP which acts as SNMP agent. We can install it from the package snmpd. Now net-snmp also provides a SNMP agent.
Does net-snmp provide snmpd daemon as its agent, if so then what is the use in installing net-snmp if one already has installed snmpd (provided one needs the SNMP agent only)?
The net-snmp suite comes in 3 Linux packages.
net-snmp package is the one which has the snmpd component mentioned in question.
The 3 Linux packages are:
net-snmp (the snmpd agent and snmptrapd daemons, documentation, etc)
net-snmp-utils (various utilities e.g. for interrogating SNMP agents, sending traps, etc )
net-snmp-libs (runtime libraries)
See http://www.net-snmp.org/ for full details.
More detailed descriptions for each (package descriptions & file contents) follows:

yum info net-snmp
Summary : A collection of SNMP protocol tools and libraries
Description : SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) is a protocol used for
: network management. The NET-SNMP project includes various SNMP tools:
: an extensible agent, an SNMP library, tools for requesting or setting
: information from SNMP agents, tools for generating and handling SNMP
: traps and a version of the netstat command which uses SNMP. This
: package contains the snmpd and snmptrapd daemons, documentation, etc.
:
: You will probably also want to install the net-snmp-utils package,
: which contains NET-SNMP utilities.

I am trying to boot a debian ppc power8 ( or 7 ) in a simulation.
I followed the instructions in [1].
The only thing I manage to boot is an ram drive ( initrd ) with mambo kernel, but it is a closed source. I can't do much with it.
So , now I try to boot a mambo kernel ( with a bigus disk support ) from [2] with the debian image disk from [1].
The kernel manages to mount the drive, but i do not reach a login as depiced in [3].

I am trying to setup OVS2.6 with DPDK16.07. I am following INSTALL.DPDK.md instructions that came under openvswitch-2.6.0.tar.gz. Getting following warning message in ovs-vswitchd.log:
00034|netdev|WARN|could not create netdev dpdk1 of unknown type dpdk
00035|bridge|WARN|could not open network device dpdk1 (Address family not supported by protocol)
Googling little bit shows this issue is faced by earlier ovs version as well, but I didn't find any satisfactory solution.
Any idea what could be rootcause, and how to fix it?
Thanks!
All ports that are to be used by Open vSwitch must be bound to the uio_pci_generic, igb_uio or vfio-pci module before the application is run. Any network ports under Linux control will be ignored by OvS or any DPDK application.
Please check the output of $DPDK_DIR/tools/dpdk-devbind.py scripts with -s parameter. You must see some ports in "Network devices using DPDK-compatible driver" section like below;
$/dpdk-stable-16.07.2/tools$ ./dpdk-devbind.py -s
Network devices using DPDK-compatible driver

I have the same issue as well, and by checking the code I found that before starting ovs-vswitchd, we should use the command below, to initialize dpdk.
ovs-vsctl --no-wait set Open_vSwitch . other_config:dpdk-init=true
I need to generate proxy class for a WCF service. I got in Windows is with command "SLsvcUtil.exe", however I need to do it in MAC. I have Xamarin Studio running.
Any idea where is the utility in MAC to generate WCF Proxy Class?

Mono does install svcutil.
Since you are using the "Silverlight" enabled svcutil you can try using the moonlight option(?)... I do not use this, so just a guess...

Is there any Compatibility Test Suite for linux kernel like we have for Android Operating system.
e.g. like when we make changes to the kernel , adding static modules, adding our own programs,configuring kernel and then building.
is there any tool to check that can check compatibility of our kernel.
like is the kernel services like IPC,Memory Memory management,Device Manager will work correct ?
So that could pass/fail/rate the generated kernel.To predict the behavior in the target system.
You can at least check compatibility of API/ABI of your changed kernel via abi-dumper and abi-compliance-checker tools: http://upstream.rosalinux.ru/kernel/
To do this you should add these config options when building your kernel:
CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO=y
CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO_REDUCED=n
And then prepare compatibility report:
abi-dumper vmlinux.old -o vmlinux-ABI-0.dump
abi-dumper vmlinux.new -o vmlinux-ABI-1.dump
abi-compliance-checker -l vmlinux -old vmlinux-ABI-0.dump -new vmlinux-ABI-1.dump
