I am just install Octave 4.2.0 in Windows 10 and try to do some Machine Learning exercises. I notice that I can't paste the normal clipboard content to the Octave.
Does anyone else have this issue? If so, any work around? Or is it just bug in the program?
Although your description doesn't indicate the exact place you're trying to paste contents into, there were a couple bugs around the time of Octave 4.2 specifically related to this problem. See:

bug #52361: Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V only works reliably if executed as very first action
both bugs have since been patched and closed (around version 4.4), and reports seem to indicate that the problem has not resurfaced in later versions. Anyone experiencing similar issues in a recent version of Octave (v5.2.1 as of today) should either comment on one of those closed bug reports or create a new one at https://bugs.octave.org
Run >> preferences, and in the Shortcuts tab, untick the option at the top "Disable global shortcuts when Command Window has focus". (I don't know since what version it is there.)
If you disable global shortcuts, Ctrl-V (for paste) is disabled because it is a Windows thing.
If you do not disable them, Ctrl-V will work. So will Ctrl-C to copy text, but it will also still work to abort an execution.
If you click on the icon in the title bar on the top left corner of the
window, you'll get an edit option, and you can choose to mark (choose
the text to copy), copy, and paste from there.
I always have my Xcode assistant editor open with counterparts option. It's very handy to have an *.m file opened at standard editor while having corresponding *.h file in assistant editor.
After recent update to version 6.3 Xcode started to show random instead of corresponding headers quite often. Several clicks to "four squares" icon and mode usually brings it back (but it's very annoying).
Do you experience this too? How to fix it?

As a workaround, one could use the Reset Editor command with the keyboard shortcut Command+Option+Shift+Z (US keyboard layout). If your keyboard layout doesn't match, you can see the key binding in View->Assistant Editor->Reset Editor. A word of caution, though, this will close any additional Assistant Editors you may have opened (the ones that open by clicking "+").
Another thing I noticed is the bug happens when you are switching Xcode windows or tabs but not when you are switching files within the same tab.
It looks like it's a just bug after all. I filed a bug report rdar://20684654. For a workaround see the accepted answer.
UPDATE: it's fixed in Xcode 6.4 beta
Just installed update 1 of vs2013 and now I can't drag .js or .css files from the solution explorer into my html views anymore.
Before you could do this and vs automatically created a script tag or link tag to the file. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the update 1 but I really miss that now, is there a way to re-enable it?
I had this problem in VS 2015; resolved by (re-)enabling:
(Menubar) Tools -> Options -> Text Editor -> General -> "Drag and drop text editing"
This not only affects the ability to drag and drop highlighted text (which is why I had turned it off in the first place), but also the ability to produce an automatically formatted link by dragging and dropping a file onto the editor window. There may be a way to separate the two, but I have not come across it.
The same option is present, by the way, in the same location, in VS 2012. However, I did not test the behavior of the option in that version.
I had the same problem and this is how I fixed it...
Option 1:
Go to Tools > Options > Text Editor > File Extension
...and add the extension of the file you are editing. In the editor selection list choose HTML Editor if it is an html or quivalent code you are working on... or just select the kind of code you are writing. After that hit Ok, restart VS and it should work now...
Option 2:
Right click on the file and select open with HTML Editor, save as default, and that should work as well.

I had this same problem. I tried #VictorSuarez's solution of adding the edited file's extension to the list of files to opened by the HTML Editor, but it did not immediately solve the problem. I then opened Visual Studio as an admin and was able to drag and drop links as expected.

I want .js, .css, .html, etc. files to be associated with Sublime Text 2. I tried to associate the file type with the Sublime Text program, but the Open With dialog wont let me select sublime_text.exe. When I browse to the sublime_text.exe and click Open, (under Program Files, not Program Files x86; I have ST 64bit version installed) nothing happens; the browse window closes and I'm back to the stupid Open With dialog, but sublime_text.exe isn't selected and within the list available programs, and the OK button is disabled because I have nothing selected.
I'm sure there's someone out there that's more familiar with how Windows works internally and would be able to shed some light on what could be going wrong.
This all started when I installed Sublime Text 2 official release. At the time, I had Sublime Text 2 32bit beta installed, when I installed the official release, I decided to go with 64bit. After I installed the new version, I had two versions on my computer, a 32bit version and 64bit version. All my file associations were using the 32bit version, so after I uninstalled the old 32bit version (using Revo Uninstaller), all my file associations broke, and I haven't been able to fix this sense then.
Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

This actually isn't a problem with Sublime text, it's a generic quirk
introduced in Vista and left lingering in W7. I actually recently made
a blog post about this very issue, you can find it at

generally considered bad form to drop an url and leave.
Open regedit.
Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\sublime_text.exe\shell\open\command
Verify that the path is accurate, correct it if it is not. Exit regedit.
Open task manager via ctrl+alt+del, kill explorer.exe, go to run and type explorer.exe (or skip this step and simply reboot).
Now attempt the same thing, right click a text file, open with, navigate to sublime, and it should now appear in the list of available
applications.
Disclaimer; My post above uses another application as an example and
it's not guaranteed to fix your problem, but it's likely to be the
same as I've encountered it countless times when installing /
uninstalling / reinstalling an application, or just updating one, in
Win7/Vista.

Sometimes while developing in Visual Studio IDE, when you use "Find in Files" dialog to find something, the search fails and you will see the following message in the "Find Results" window.
No files were found to look in. Find stopped progress
Once this message shows up, all the subsequent searches will result in the same message. Nothing fixes the problem including restarting the computer except pressing Ctrl + ScrLk.
What causes Visual Studio to get into this state and is there a setting to permanently prevent it from happening?

This bug has been around since at least 2004 and, as of the above post in 2009, had not been fixed.
Sometimes Ctrl + Break works, sometimes Alt + Break, sometimes Ctrl + Scroll Lock, and other times Alt + Scroll Lock.
Right now, nothing works. This has been a huge problem for me. Shame on Microsoft for not fixing this bug in the last nine years.
Apparently, for those for who the key combinations don't work (like me at the moment), deleting the following registry key brings salvation:
MyComputer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\[VS VERSION NUMBER]\Find
Of course, [VS VERSION NUMBER] should be internal version number of the IDE. Don't forget to restart your computer.
Mind you, deleting stuff in the registry is dangerous. Like anyone on SO cares but anyway...
I don't think there is anything you can do to prevent it.
It seems to occur after I have stopped a build with CTRL+Break...Maybe I am pressing CTRL+Scroll Lock during that time???
I have only had it happen to me 2-3 times, and that was several months apart.
What he is saying is that occasionally when performing a search within Visual Studio you get the mentioned error message. Even though you know there is stuff to find. It is some weird state that Visual Studio gets into. If you press the (CTRL+Scroll Lock) it will 'fix' the issue.

PS: Microsoft claims that they fixed it in Visual Studio 2012.
I have had this problem and saw peoples' answers about the multiple Ctrl + Break/Pause Scroll Lock combinations.
I considered this, but I thought it a poor workaround (especially as I use a Mac Keyboard so those keys are not easily available).
So the solution I found was to do this:
Menu: Tools → Options → Environment → Find and Replace
Uncheck the top three check boxes (checked by default in my settings).
Re-check the top three check boxes.
Et voila, everything should work fine.
Well, it did for me anyway, which was a relief as I can't believe Microsoft would allow a weird key combination as a work around for a bug like this.

Steps to Reproduce
I just experienced this using Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard and Visual Studio 2010 SP1.
I was accessing Visual Studio remotely through Citrix Receiver (from my computer, A, to B) and through Windows Remote Desktop (from B to C). In this set-up (chaining two remote sessions), I sometimes have stuck modifier keys.
In B, I had pressed Windows+Pause to access the System Properties window. (This may or may not be related; I suspect there could have been a stuck key press or something.)
Later on, when I opened Visual Studio on C, I had this problem. Note that I always use Ctrl+Shift+F to access the Find All window.
Solution
I solved it by pressing Ctrl+Scroll Lock as suggested in other answers.
Cause
As for why this happens, I did notice that if I press Ctrl+Break while the text cursor is in the Find Results window but before any results are found then the search stops with the same message. This indicates to me that it's related to a keyboard problem.
As reported by others, apparently it's a Windows bug. Here's a discussion about this.
I encountered a very similar problem. I was searching a folder for all files for a phrase in all .cs files in my solution. Visual Studio kept saying "No files were found to look in". (It did not have the "Find stopped progress" part of the message.)
I searched for the message and found this question. The suggested keyboard commands in other answers did not work.
I like to use the keyboard for navigation. I had accidentally hit Alt+B and Space. Alt+B is the shortcut to jump to the "Include sub-folders" checkbox on the Find and Replace form. The space bar cleared the checkbox, and then Alt+A performed a Find All action. Because it was not searching sub-folders, no files were found. The message was correct.
After checking the "Include sub-folders" box, searches found the matching files in sub-folders. So if you're getting the message "No files were found to look in" without the message "Find stopped progress", ensure the search is looking in sub-folders!
I thought I was seeing this problem, but after two days of searching for a solution I figured out that the "Look at these file types" selector had changed and didn't include the file extension I needed.
I had this in Visual Studio 2015 yesterday.
In Find in Files, in the textfield Look in:, I typed
*.*
instead of Entire Solution, and that also caused No files were found to look in.

There are some steps as following below you can try:
Check the setting Find and Replace (menu Tools → Environment → Find and Replace).
Open "Developer Command Prompt for VS2013" and paste
“devenv.exe /resetsettings”
Use the Visual Studio Setup Wizard (via Control Panel) to repair Visual Studio. You also can read the reference about Find in Files:

I have found another cause of this: Moving the solution folder to a new location, when CMake is part of the build process.
I was working with the Chromium Embedded Framework and moved the main CEF folder from e:\ to c:\ . This seems to break everything including Find because the CMake build scripts it uses hard-code the disk volume and full path (E:\folder) into the source paths.
To be clear, Press Ctrl + ScrlLck, with the Search Window open. That resolved it for me too.
