I want .js, .css, .html, etc. files to be associated with Sublime Text 2. I tried to associate the file type with the Sublime Text program, but the Open With dialog wont let me select sublime_text.exe. When I browse to the sublime_text.exe and click Open, (under Program Files, not Program Files x86; I have ST 64bit version installed) nothing happens; the browse window closes and I'm back to the stupid Open With dialog, but sublime_text.exe isn't selected and within the list available programs, and the OK button is disabled because I have nothing selected.
I'm sure there's someone out there that's more familiar with how Windows works internally and would be able to shed some light on what could be going wrong.
This all started when I installed Sublime Text 2 official release. At the time, I had Sublime Text 2 32bit beta installed, when I installed the official release, I decided to go with 64bit. After I installed the new version, I had two versions on my computer, a 32bit version and 64bit version. All my file associations were using the 32bit version, so after I uninstalled the old 32bit version (using Revo Uninstaller), all my file associations broke, and I haven't been able to fix this sense then.
Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

This actually isn't a problem with Sublime text, it's a generic quirk
introduced in Vista and left lingering in W7. I actually recently made
a blog post about this very issue, you can find it at
http://anders.tonfeldt.se/?p=775 but I'll detail it here since it's
generally considered bad form to drop an url and leave.
Open regedit.
Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\sublime_text.exe\shell\open\command
Verify that the path is accurate, correct it if it is not. Exit regedit.
Open task manager via ctrl+alt+del, kill explorer.exe, go to run and type explorer.exe (or skip this step and simply reboot).
Now attempt the same thing, right click a text file, open with, navigate to sublime, and it should now appear in the list of available
applications.
Disclaimer; My post above uses another application as an example and
it's not guaranteed to fix your problem, but it's likely to be the
same as I've encountered it countless times when installing /
uninstalling / reinstalling an application, or just updating one, in
Win7/Vista.

Calibre's latest version, as it was very recently downloaded and installed.
Can someone please advise as to how to reopen the Live View Panel?
I had been editing an ePUB file's text, and also adding images. It was an easy process to add images; i.e., by clicking the desired position in the Live View Panel, and then importing a image.
Unfortunately, I do believe that I probably inadvertantly clicked on something or another, which caused the disappearance of the Live View Panel. All the other panels on the editing screen were still visible.
A search of the edit screen for a feature enabling me to view display panel agin was unsuccessful.
I tried clicking other HTML files in the Text panel, hoping it would cause the Live View Panel appear, to no avail.
I closed the entire program, and reopened it several times, with the same results.
I loaded different ePub files, and each time I went into edit mode, the Live View Panel was missing. And, all along, I did try the previously mentioned measures.
I even uninstalled Calibre and reinstalled it, twice! And, I made sure that its installation folders had been deleted upon each uninstallation. But, somehow, upon reinstallation startup, Calibre knew the very "special" folder (i.e., which I had designated in an earlier installation) into which to setup its User-related files and its library. [I thought it was probably due to system registry setting.]
Finally, I again uninstalled Calibre. However, this time, before doing a reinstallation, I restored Windows settings. I used a (restore) point that I had created prior to Calibre's first installation. I had hoped that any Registry settings related to Calibre would surely not survive. Nevertheless, upon a subsequent Calibre reinstallation, the program simply failed to display the "Live View Panel." (Go figure!)

I am using the decade-old Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator 1.4 to create a custom keyboard. I have validated my keyboard within the software and no problems arose. I have also tested my keyboard (multiple times within the software) to make sure the corresponding base and shift keys are functioning properly. However, when I click the button under project to
"Build DLL and setup Package"
I get the following message:
"There was a problem building the keyboard file. Would you like to see warning/error information?"
After choosing "yes", I am presented with the following:
CL.EXE returned 1
RC.EXE returned 1
LINK.EXE returned 1
And an unsuccessful attempt at creating the keyboard layout.
Also, the "There was a problem building the keyboard file" message pops up 4 times. Clicking yes each time brings the same result as the above.
I am a noob in coding and do not know what any of this means, except that all of the 3 programs have returned a "No."

I had the same problem. I was helped by this Google Groups thread. The problem is that MSKLC uses some nonstandard filename functionality when it detects spaces in its own filename, which fails and causes some IO issues, which bubble up as three exit codes of 1.
To fix it, you can uninstall MSKLC from the "Add/Remove Programs" section of the Control Panel, and then reinstall it, but instead of installing to Program Files (x86), create a folder directly in C:/ without any spaces (I called mine C:/MSKLC/). After I did that, it worked perfectly for me.
I am just install Octave 4.2.0 in Windows 10 and try to do some Machine Learning exercises. I notice that I can't paste the normal clipboard content to the Octave.
Does anyone else have this issue? If so, any work around? Or is it just bug in the program?
Although your description doesn't indicate the exact place you're trying to paste contents into, there were a couple bugs around the time of Octave 4.2 specifically related to this problem. See:
bug #51095: editor doesnt allow paste of exisiting clipboard data
and
bug #52361: Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V only works reliably if executed as very first action
both bugs have since been patched and closed (around version 4.4), and reports seem to indicate that the problem has not resurfaced in later versions. Anyone experiencing similar issues in a recent version of Octave (v5.2.1 as of today) should either comment on one of those closed bug reports or create a new one at https://bugs.octave.org
Run >> preferences, and in the Shortcuts tab, untick the option at the top "Disable global shortcuts when Command Window has focus". (I don't know since what version it is there.)
If you disable global shortcuts, Ctrl-V (for paste) is disabled because it is a Windows thing.
If you do not disable them, Ctrl-V will work. So will Ctrl-C to copy text, but it will also still work to abort an execution.
If you click on the icon in the title bar on the top left corner of the
window, you'll get an edit option, and you can choose to mark (choose
the text to copy), copy, and paste from there.

In Sublime, the feature called Goto Anything (⌘+P, ⌘+T, Win: ⌃+P, etc.) searches through a list of open files/tabs, or any files (and more) but only in your current project/focused window :( I understand why it works that way but it's not super useful for having a bunch of random files open.
I'm currently using Sublime on my home computer (Mac) where I have 3 or 4 windows open (not technically projects, but Sublime seems to associate the two conceptually) each with 1-5 tabs. It's often difficult to find a tab I was using for a quick note (eg. groceries) because right-clicking the app icon in the dock only shows the active tab per window. If "groceries" was in a window and wasn't the last viewed tab when I went to another Sublime window, it's effectively lost, and I've got to start going through each one of my Sublime windows to find it.
I've also tried the Find in Files... feature (⇧+⌘+F) with <open files> in the Where field thinking I'd just search for something in the file (eg. eggs) but "open files" really means "open files in this project/window"...same scope limitation.
I've even looked for a plugins that might help but "Goto absolutely everything" is a concept that's hard to search for. I've been wanting to try writing my own so I'd be grateful for a Python solution as well!
I realize this is a somewhat old thread, and you may have already come up with a solution. While there is no way that I know of to do a search or goto anything across all windows, I developed a Sublime Text plugin that allows you to jump between windows using command+shift+o on Mac OS X.

I'm using VS2005, and have been for many years without problems, and 2003 before that.
Today suddenly, when I try and debug javascript on a site from the web, the debugger loads as normal but complains it can't find the source and offers me the chance to go looking for it. In the Script Explorer it shows all of the files loaded by the page, it just won't show me the source for them when I double-click on them.
I've tried resetting all settings to web-development default. Didn't work. I even tried exporting the settings from another machine (XP) I have with VS2005 on it that works fine. After importing to the faulty machine (on Win 7) it made no difference.
Any ideas?
Steps to recreate:
1. Open IE9, go to yahoo.com
2. Click View->External Script Debugger->Open
3. Once in the debugger it says cannot find source and offers me a dialog to help me find it on my local machine (why would it be there?).
4. In the Script Explorer I see all html and js files the page loaded, but upon double-clicking them, nothing happens. Usually it opens the source and you can set breakpoints.
Working config is on XP/IE8
Non-working config is on Win 7/IE9 but was working fine before today.
I just noticed a bizarre side-effect. The File menu in IE9 is greyed out during the debug session and even after I've closed VS. So freaky.
Well, no solution was found as to why VS2005 suddenly developed a lack of understanding as to how to get JavaScript source code for live sites. I uninstalled it and installed VS2010 instead and that's working just fine, on the same sites. Maybe re-installing VS2005 would have worked, but I'd had VS2010 around waiting to be installed for a while anyway, so two birds, one stone and all that.
It remains a mystery. No point anyone offering any further input now. The problem is history.
