I downloaded the Google App Engine SDK for Python from here, extracted the zip file, but there's no dmg file that allows me to install it. Here's what the ReadMe says:
INSTALLING ON Mac OSX
=====================
1) Download and install Python 2.7 from http://www.python.org/download/
2) Download the SDK installer from
https://developers.google.com/appengine/downloads
3) Install the SDK by double-clicking on the GoogleAppEngine.dmg file and
running the installer.
I checked every folder but there is no such file! Maybe the ReadMe is obsolete. Please help..
Never mind. I didn't click the button--thought it was just a check image.

When I run the Qt5 installer on Mac I get
Cannot open script file at
/var/folders/yr/459cs03n63g185cf1bp_3xvc0000gn/T/remoterepo-6sdgWK/qt.596.qtdatavis3d.android_armv7/installscript.qs:
No such file or directory
Why it cannot open this installscript.qs file?
I'm running macos Sierra
So I want to share my solution: just restart the installer.
Another way to fix most Qt installer problems is to open https://download.qt.io/ and download the complete .dmg installer (from this folder https://download.qt.io/official_releases/qt/)
I had this problem I think because I kept the installation idle for long time trying to solve another problem: the installer couldn't find XCode even if I had it already installed, like in this question
Attempt to install Qt on OS X gives 'You need to install XCode 5.0.0', but this version is so old it's not available
I want to install YouCompleteMe, on Mac OSX, early 2015.
I have installed it under guidance of Mac OSX part. However, I got one warning:
NoExtraConfDetected: No .ycm_extra_conf.py file detected.
Then I read the full installation guide, and know that I should Download the latest version of libclang. However, there are so many source code on the official webpage of LLVM, and I don't know what to install (figure below).
So, could you please tell me, which one I should install?
Thanks!
If you go to http://llvm.org/releases/download.html#3.8.0 you can see Pre-Build binaries for MacOsX that's what you need to download and extract. Once you extract this. You will need to source it's location using the path variable.
Now, You can also install clang using brew from the terminal.
brew install --with-clang llvm
I have created an application with node webkit. I packaged and distributed the first mac version of it. I am about to distribute the next version of the same. I want an installer or something similar to Inno Setup for windows which would help me uninstall the previous version of my application and install the newer version.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
I assume that you have packed your app in a DMG to release the first version. If you need to do a cleanup on the existing installation, you can use a PKG-DMG combination. PKG allows you to have pre-install/post install scripts. You can do your uninstallation/cleanup via these scripts.
Packages is a tool that can help you create a PKG file. If you want to automate this, you can use command line pkgutil. You can add the PKG directly to DMG instead of app.
I want to remove the installed Qt 4.8 libraries and install Qt 4.6 libraries on my mac.
But when I try to install them I get:
"Qt libraries cannot be installed on this disk. A newer version of
this software already exists on this disk"
I removed the /usr/local/Qt4.8.x folder from the disk but the message is still here.
How can I remove the old libraries?
You shouldn't manually delete a folder unless there is no other option. You should try running the uninstall script first:
sudo python /Developer/Tools/uninstall-qt.py
The path to this script will be different if you are running the latest Xcode app bundle and not the default Snow Leopard/Lion Xcode.
I installed qt via homebrew. To remove I simply wrote the following in the terminal: brew uninstall qt#4
install4j's multiplatform installer has been working great for years. Now out of the blue we are getting an error popup dialog that The installation file is corrupted. If it is a download please try again. It has installed about 19MB of 164MB and the last file it didn't write was a small jar that has been in the build for some time now.
We get this error when running the full installer right after it is built as a test. We are also building several 'companion' applications with all the same files just different start up options and its installer run fine.
We are using install4j in batch mode:
install4j version: 5.0.8 (build 5311)
Thanks.
Are you running it on the latest Mac OS? If so then this is because of the latest Gatekeeper "feature" of Apple and you need to sign your code: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5290
