Elasticsearch windows service not work on Nano server - elasticsearch

I am now trying to install ES on windows 2016 Nano server, it works when start ES in command line, but failed to start ES as windows service, maybe due to some changes on Nano server, but I have no hint at all why it didn't work.
Anyone has experience on installing ES on Nano server?
or Where can I get the source code of ES windows service, elasticsearch-windows-x64.exe? It could be helpful to troubleshoot the root cause.

I haven't got a chance to test it on Nano Server 2016, but I've installed ES 5.1.2 + JDK1.8.0_121 on Windows 2016 Server Core successfully and was able to start the service.
Install JDK and set SYSTEM ENV with setx -m JAVA_HOME
"C:\PROGRA~1\Java\jdk1.8.0_121" command. It doesn't work with user level ENV variable such as using set JAVA_HOME=xxx.
unzip ES to c:\elk\elasticsearch
Edit the elasticsearch.yml config file, config the Cluster and Node names and save it
install the ES service C:\elk\elasticsearch\bin>elasticsearch-service.bat install
start the ES service C:\elk\elasticsearch\bin>elasticsearch-service.bat start

Cannot access Flink dashboard localhost:8081 on windows

I follow the first steps to install Flink.
I can start the cluster without any problem
$ start-cluster.sh
Starting cluster.
Starting standalonesession daemon on host DESKTOP-....
Starting taskexecutor daemon on host DESKTOP-....
But I don't get any status from
$ ps aux | grep flink
I can also not access the dashboard via localhost:8081.
There is an older post having these issues, but the solution didn't work for me, since the described conf files do no longer exist, apparently.
My JAVA_HOME is set as C:\Progra~1\Java\jdk1.8.0_311 to avoid issues with the space in Program Files.
Can you check the logs in the /logs folder? I'm suspecting that C:\Program Files\ could still cause issues because of the space there.
go to download Flink folder and try bash command
$./bin/start-cluster.sh --daemon bootstrap-server localhost:8081
and run code one more
$ ./bin/flink run examples/streaming/WordCount.jar
if you finished run above code which not issue, go to localhost:8081
This still seems to be problematic. I tried to run from Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL).
I have the following versions: java 11.0.16 and flink 1.15.2.
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt install openjdk-11-jre-headless
export FLINK_HOME=/mnt/c/Projects/Apache/flink-1.15.2
I set the following in flink-conf.yaml
rest.port: 8081
rest.address: localhost
rest.bind-adress: 0.0.0.0
Whereby I changed the bind address for localhost to 0.0.0.0 this seems to have fixed the problem.
$FLINK_HOME/bin/start-cluster.sh
Now I can access the Flink Web Dashboard.

SolrCore is loading running as Windows Service

Logged into Windows Server 2016 as Administrator, I can run Solr from the command line: bin\solr.cmd start -p 8983 -f
I have configured a Solr to run as a Windows Service - running as the same user, with the same command, same startup directory, etc. - however under load, the following error comes back from the upstream application (Sitecore xConnect, though this shouldn't make a difference)
{metadata={error-class=org.apache.solr.common.SolrException,root-error-class=org.apache.solr.common.SolrException},msg=SolrCore is loading,code=503}
To reiterate, everything works fine when Solr is started from the command line, only when it's run as a Windows Service does it error.
Solr version: 6.6.3
Windows version: Server 2016
Environment: AWS (m5.large EC2 instance)
Sitecore compatibility table says to use Solr 6.6.1 with Sitecore, You should still use 6.6.2 as it fixes a bug in Solr 6.6.1 that can affect the installation of SIF. Read here
I recommend you try again with Solr 6.6.2
It turns out that the service was configured to run without the -f flag. So the process would continually stop and re-spawn.

unable to start kibana process

I am trying to install kibana using rpm kibana-4.5.0-1.x86_64.rpm.
However when i try to start the Kibana process, i am getting below prompt
Starting kibana....... unable to start process kibana.
To check the reason i have enabled log file by setting the below parameter in kibana.yml :
logging.dest: /opt/kibana/kibana.log
However no log file is getting created and i am unable to identify why kibana process is not starting.
Any suggestion would be appreciated..

RPM install is not supported on distributions with old versions of RPM, such as SLES 11 and CentOS 5.
My suggetion you can install Kibana with .tar.gz

Install Liferay as Windows 2012R2 service

I am a newbie on Liferay and furthermore 100% Windows infrastructure knowledge based. I installed Liferay 6.2 on my Windows 2012R2 server together with Java jdk-8u5 version. All is running perfect as long as I am logged in as user on the Server via remotedesktop having open the tomcat startup.bat window.
What have I to do exactly to start Liferay and/or tomcat as service?

Configuring liferay or tomcat to run as a service on a windows server doesn't differ that much.So in order to do that you have to add some files to the LIFERAY_HOME\tomcat\bin directory.
To get those files you have to download a full version of 64-bitWindows tomcat from here :
http://tomcat.apache.org/download-70.cgi.
Extract the zip and go to the bin directory, copy service.bat , tomcat7.exe and tomcat7w.exe to this location : LIFERAY_HOME\tomcat\bin
Setting Up the service
Open the commad prompt (Make sure you have admin rights or run the command prompt as administrator),In Command Prompt go to LIFERAY_HOME\tomcat\bin and Execute the following command
service.bat install tomcat7
This will install the tomcat6 service in windows.
Now execute following commond to setup additional configuration for the service
tomcat7w.exe ES tomcat7.exe
2 . Extra configuration :
-XX:MaxPermSize=512m
-Dfile.encoding=UTF8
-Duser.timezone=GMT
-Djava.security.auth.login.config="%CATALINA_HOME%/conf/jaas.config"
-Dorg.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.ENABLE_CLEAR_REFERENCES=false
and make sure to provide enough memory for your service by setting the initial memory pool and the maximum one.
Either go with Rafik Beldi's answer (quite an effort, wow) or just go to tomcat's documentation in case you're still missing some information
I had to delete what was in Java Options completely or it wouldn't start: and then I entered:
-XX:MaxPermSize=512m
-Dfile.encoding=UTF8
-Duser.timezone=America/New_York
-Dorg.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.ENABLE_CLEAR_REFERENCES=false
-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true
note that where I am: America/New_York allows for both EST and EDT

How to install Tomcat 7 as a Windows service using command line install

I need to install Tomcat 7 as a Windows service and to start the service manually.
Referring to How to install Tomcat as a Windows service, I believe I would need to specify the following on the command line:
tomcat7 //IS//Tomcat7 --DisplayName="Apache Tomcat 7" --Install="C:\Tomcat7\bin\tomcat7.exe
Do I also need to specify all or some of the following on the command line like in the example? If only some, please specify which ones. If anything in the example is incorrect, please specify.
--Jvm=auto
--StartMode=jvm
--StopMode=jvm
--StartClass=org.apache.catalina.startup.Bootstrap
--StartParams=start
--StopClass=org.apache.catalina.startup.Bootstrap
--StopParams=stop
What I need for sure is to specify the following because I need to tell Tomcat to use a specific java home and not the java home set by the environment variable JAVA_HOME on the server where this will be installed.
--JavaHome="C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_51
The reason: the server already has a different version of Tomcat (5.5) and it uses an older version of the JDK (1.5). I must not change JAVA_HOME on the server. I simply need to ensure Tomcat 7 uses JDK 1.7 and I have tried this line:
C:\tomcat7\bin>tomcat7 //IS//Tomcat7 --DisplayName="Apache Tomcat 7" --Install="C:\Tomcat7\bin\tomcat7.exe" --JavaHome="C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_51"

I had a look at the System Event Viewer and it provides the following information:
The Apache Tomcat 7 service terminated with service-specific error Incorrect function..
I need to figure out these steps because I then need to provide the support team with the information to install this service on the production server. So any help would be greatly appreciated!
Use Chocolatey from Powershell command line:
first install Chocolatey

To install Tomcat
PS:\> choco install tomcat
To upgrade
PS:\> choco upgrade tomcat
Seems like a mismatch in your java JVM and tomcat version.
The tomcat7.exe wrapper program actually
"runs" the JVM, it must match the type of JVM that it runs, in terms
of 32bit/64bit version. If you try to start a 64-bit JVM with a 32-bit
tomcat7.exe, it won't work, and vice-versa.

This is because of shortage in physical RAM.
Check the Minimum System Requirements on Tomcat docs and try to close unnecessary programs if possible.
