xfce, widgets gone, right-click (ctrl-click on mac) doesn't work - xfce

I installed xfce4 on an AWS EC2 instance and was able to use it through vnc on my Mac. The xfce windows manager had some widgets I could use to do some simple things like start an xterm. Something changed, all the widgets are gone, all that remains is a box in the center with 3 check fields
"Accept clipboard from viewers"
"Send clipboard to viewers"
"Send primary selection to viewers".
I uninstalled and reinstalled xfce4 on the AWS EC2 instance as an attempt to get the widges back. No luck. I googled on how to set widgets up and got instructions to start with right-click to get to menus. But right-click (ctrl-click on my Mac) doesn't work.
Stuck.
Again, this was working before. I may have inadvertently done something when I was trying to resize the windows manager, but I can't remember what.
Can anyone help ?
Thanks in advance

Problem solved. There were dangling vncserver procs out there with no vnc/pid and vnc/.log files. Found them with ps, killed them, restarted vncserver and Voila!

Windows PowerShell.lnk not found

I have a Surfacebook (first generation) running Windows 10 Enterprise and joined to my company's active directory domain. I'm not sure what happened (as best I can tell now updates were installed nor were any GPO applied), but I woke up to a machine that seems to have several core setting reset. All of my apps that were pinned to my Taskbar and Start Menu were gone, and my app auth tokens were reset, and the two powershell related shortcuts off the context menu of the Start button were no longer mapped to .lnk' files. I'm trying to get these powershell menu items working again and I'm having no luck.
Doing this:
Fails with:
This file was indeed gone. I don't know what removed this, but I recreated it:
But still it fails. I've checked the permissions, I own the directory and .lnk. I've rebooted and still it didn't work. Anyone know how to get this back to functional? And I would love to have a clue as to what might have caused all this to go haywire.

Blurry X11 forwarding via MobaXTerm

I have established an ssh connection from Win10 to RedHat machine via MobaXTerm. I have also enabled X11 forwarding, but when I launch eclipse or gedit or anything else the application window looks blurry, i.e. not really crystal sharp as it would look be it run natively. Below is how it looks like when forwarded from a linux machine. Any clue how to make it look more sharp?
right click mobaxterm executable or shortcut
go to compatibility tab
go to high dpi settings
check the box override dpi table
leave dropdown to application
apply
restart mobaxterm
launch the app
I found a similar issue when working with VcXsrv and the solution for that one worked for me in MobaXTerm as well.
I'm going to guess that your screen is a high DPI one as it seems like that's where most people seem to have this issue.
Try going to the MobaXTerm executable, right-click it and go to properties.
Inside properties, click on the Compatibility tab and then mark the check to disable display scaling on high DPI.
I had the same problem with blurry Mobaxterm windows on Win10. Try to change scale and layout of the monitor in Windows to 100% like in
this image, and it worked for me.
I have 125% display scale and the same issue. In MobaXTerm (21.4) I've changed the following setting to make applications look sharper:
MobaXTerm / Settings / X11 / DPI: auto

QGIS 2.2 on OSX Mavericks stuck in full screen mode

I toggled into full screen mode on QGIS 2.2 on my Mac, and now the menu bar won't show and I can't toggle out of it. From the documentation, it looks like it should toggle with F11, but it's not working. I've seen people having similar trouble on Ubuntu and Windows 7, but nothing for OSX. Any ideas? I appreciate it.
Just spent close to an hour with this problem- QGIS 2.2 on mavericks. Really vexing! I tried reinstalling (after trashing the previous version as instructed in the install notes), tried removing the hidden .qgis2 folder in the home directory, tried disabling all spaces on the machine (I started with 8 desktops), tried all permutations of Apple-F, ctrl-F, apple-shift-F, etc...
Finally, and simply, the answer was this:
F11 is documented as the toggle key, but in my mostly stock setup this was bound in MissionControl to 'display the desktop'. I rebound that function to F1, and then with QGIS up, hit F11 (on my MBP I need to also hold the fn key otherwise it's 'volume down') and I was out of Full screen mode.
Hope it works for you!

Error - Open clipboard failed

I am using Visio professional 2003. It was working fine. But now when I copy and paste any shapes it showing the error "Open clipboard failed". After that I am not able to change any properties or name.
When I try to close the window it is showing warning as "You cant quit visio program because a program is handling an event from visio. If VBA at break point, reset VBA, then quit"
Can anyone tell me what the problem is?
this has been a problem with Visio for 7 years and the last 3 versions of the product(Visio 2003 to Visio 2010).
The issue happens if you are running some other clipboard manager, like ditto or similar. The only thing you can do is use task manager to kill visio, then disable any clipboard manager you are using and restart visio.
It is working fine after i restarted the system.
I'd like to ring in that I had this issue when a Citrix session remoting to server 1 which was remoting to server 2 went into "triple lock": The screen saver in all three servers had kicked in. Ditto went crazy as did every app that I used the clipboard in.
Once I unlocked the sessions (which were lagging like crazy) everything went back to normal.
On my side the issue was coming from Citrix. Thx for pointing that out Vincent.

zend studio 5.5.1 on windows xp - won't open!

I have been using zend studio 5.5.1 for the last year and and a half (on windows xp), with some occasional issues, such as a blank error dialog box when I started the program, but always went away when i restarted my computer, and usually got messages about javaw.exe errors.
But now, the program does not open at all. What happens is, I get a little dialog that says Loading project - this is normal... but then, nothing. The zend program item is sitting in the taskbar, but when i click on it - nothing! there is nothing to show. i can right click and press close, but that is all.
restarting computer did not help. i just uninstalled it, downloaded again from zend website, and reinstalled. tried opening - get loading box, seems to have loaded, even got tip of the day box. but there is nothing showing behind them. once i closed the tip box, i dont have any indication that zend is open besides the program item in the taskbar. windows task manager says it is running...
anyone have a clue? help!!! thanks

Right click Zend-icon for Windows 7 program properties
On Compatibility tab set modus to Windows Vista and apply
