zend studio 5.5.1 on windows xp - won't open! - zend-studio

I have been using zend studio 5.5.1 for the last year and and a half (on windows xp), with some occasional issues, such as a blank error dialog box when I started the program, but always went away when i restarted my computer, and usually got messages about javaw.exe errors.
But now, the program does not open at all. What happens is, I get a little dialog that says Loading project - this is normal... but then, nothing. The zend program item is sitting in the taskbar, but when i click on it - nothing! there is nothing to show. i can right click and press close, but that is all.
restarting computer did not help. i just uninstalled it, downloaded again from zend website, and reinstalled. tried opening - get loading box, seems to have loaded, even got tip of the day box. but there is nothing showing behind them. once i closed the tip box, i dont have any indication that zend is open besides the program item in the taskbar. windows task manager says it is running...
anyone have a clue? help!!! thanks

On Compatibility tab set modus to Windows Vista and apply

After Windows 10 latest update VB6 hangs

Last night Microsoft Decided to Update Windows 10. I have been running VB6 on Windows 10 since Windows 10 was originally released. Now when I try to run VB6 the VB6 splash screen is displayed and then I get a window titled Windows Installer, a message that says Preparing to install, a button that says Cancel a window titled Windows Installer, a message that says Preparing to install, a button that says Cancel. This window is modal and does not allow me to get to VB6. If I click Cancel the process repeats. If I click on a .vbp the same thing happens. Please help
Thank you
Charlie
I don't know if I should apologize or demand an apology from Microsoft. I right clicked on VB6 and chose Compatibility Checker. After it ran, Microsoft decided to update office 2010 Single Image (whatever that is). Then I clicked on Test the Module and guess what? It worked. I so hate updates...I had this problem and now my computer reboots every night, thus trashing any open files and ruining my Free Cell game :-)
Hope this helps somebody else who is frustrated.
BTW shouldn't it be Windows' Installer. Doesn't the Installer belong to Windows?
Happy Computing
Charlie

Adobe XD installation on windows 10 is interrupted by an error dialog box that says "The operation was canceled due to some restrictions in effect "

i'm trying to install Adobe XD on my system but i'm halted by an error that comes in form of a dialog box, it says "The operation was cancelled due to some restriction in effect on this system, please contact your system administrator." My windows 10 is up to date and i have the 1607 anniversary update.
Try this solution. It worked for me. For error code 191.
First find Microsoft Store and open it.
Then find the 3 dots on the upper right hand corner. Click it and then click Updates and downloads. In that window locate apps installer and microsoft store. Update both the apps. Then restart the computer and start installation.
I found the answer to this error and i resolved it by doing the installation using the Administrator account that windows 10 creates by default when yo install the OS.
Here is a link to a webpage, the one that helped me http://www.ghacks.net/2014/11/12/how-to-enable-the-hidden-windows-10-administrator-account /
For the error code 505.

couple week ago, I disabled the Secondary Logon Windows service...so it was my problem..

Windows 8.1 Task Bar Context Menu Error

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place but I really don't know where to go for something like this.
I did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 on my new SSD and the context menus for the task bar looks like this now...
I realize this may not be the right place to post, but could you point me in the right direction? Thanks!
The solution was to uninstall Windows Update KB3072318.

You get this graphical glitch because you use a custom Windows 8 theme under Windows 8.1. Microsoft changed the format a bit. StartIsBack+ (for Windows 8.1) fixes this issue and restore the Win7 Start menu for a better Windows 8.1 UX.
Ok, forget my previous answer! It's got nothing to do with the SSD.
I just found a fix/workaround:
Just make a clean install with the internet completely disconnected and only connect after the setup is fully finished.
Also, this way, you won't even see the windows 10 upgrade notification on the setup.
Hope this helps...

Drag and Drop in Windows 7 not working in admin mode

Problem
I have a strange problem. I have written an application in MFC(using VS2003) to handle "Drag and Drop" of file/folder. When I run the application in administrator mode, DnD is simply rejected but works in other way (when I don't choose to run in admin mode).
Work around
I have tried several ways :
http://helgeklein.com/blog/2010/03/how-to-enable-drag-and-drop-for-an-elevated-mfc-application-on-vistawindows-7/
http://www.cdartdisplay.com/forum/showpost.php?p=12302&postcount=13
http://forums.codeguru.com/showthread.php?499909-MFC-Drag-and-Drop-works-on-XP-broken-on-Vista-Windows-7-(
None of them worked for me.
Development tool details
IDE : Visual Studio 2003 version 7.1.3088
OS : Windows 7 Professional (64 bit)
Please suggest me a solution to resolve it.
Thanks.
Windows Explorer and Windows does many tricks around. Enable all messages:
ChangeWindowMessageFilter (WM_DROPFILES, MSGFLT_ADD);
ChangeWindowMessageFilter (WM_COPYDATA, MSGFLT_ADD);
ChangeWindowMessageFilter (0x0049, MSGFLT_ADD);
Got it from:

Error - Open clipboard failed

I am using Visio professional 2003. It was working fine. But now when I copy and paste any shapes it showing the error "Open clipboard failed". After that I am not able to change any properties or name.
When I try to close the window it is showing warning as "You cant quit visio program because a program is handling an event from visio. If VBA at break point, reset VBA, then quit"
Can anyone tell me what the problem is?
this has been a problem with Visio for 7 years and the last 3 versions of the product(Visio 2003 to Visio 2010).
The issue happens if you are running some other clipboard manager, like ditto or similar. The only thing you can do is use task manager to kill visio, then disable any clipboard manager you are using and restart visio.
It is working fine after i restarted the system.
I'd like to ring in that I had this issue when a Citrix session remoting to server 1 which was remoting to server 2 went into "triple lock": The screen saver in all three servers had kicked in. Ditto went crazy as did every app that I used the clipboard in.
Once I unlocked the sessions (which were lagging like crazy) everything went back to normal.
On my side the issue was coming from Citrix. Thx for pointing that out Vincent.
