today after i got an update of avast i could not launch any android emulator anymore (Bluestacks 3 and NOX). When i try to launch an emulator after like 80-90% of the engine loading of the emulator nothing happens then i get a messagge of the emulator that the engine could not launche and it gives me 2 options (restart engine or restart computer) both will get my sistem to crash and i get a blue screen with errorcode 0x00000667 (not sure if i miss a 0). I already tried to disable the antivirus and to retry but got the same problem, i reinstall the android emulator but got the same result. And worst of my problems are that my computer didn't had the file protection active to restore to an prewvie point, so im stuck now and i prefer not to reset my whole computer. Any suggestion what could i do? im really in trouble here and i hope this is the right place to ask for my problem.
Turning off hyper-v in your pc will fix the problem. Run the CMD in administrative mode and run this command bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off.
Solve this
1 - Enable virtualization (from bios/UEFI setting)
2 - Disable hyper-v and restart (Credit to Sadhurshan)
bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off
3 - Install intel haxm
https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-hardware-accelerated-execution-manager-intel-haxm
Run the CMD in administrative mode and run this command bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off.
I had the same problem.
Run the CMD in administrative mode and run command
bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off.
But just this step didn't work.
As a second step, I checked whether Intel X86 Emulator Accelerator (HAXM installer) is installed on the SDK Manager > SDK Tools. I saw the "update available" and updated it.
Problem is solved.
I was having the same exact issue. Did all the normal troubleshooting (restarts/re-installs etc). So I hit up google and found your post and made the connection that I recall updating Avast a few days ago as well. Did a search for "avast bluestacks" and found the post # this URL. I followed its easy steps and so far bluestacks is back up and running normal for me again.

disable hyper-v and restart then open nox try again in windows 10 disable
Press Windows key.
Type "Turn Windows features on or off"
Deselect checkbox next to Hyper-V.
Select OK.
Select Restart now.
Never expected that this would work, but it worked for my good old fasion i7-2600k which does not support VT but has Hardware acceleration.
Make sure Hyper-V is disabled in Windows Features
Uninstall NoxPlayer (probably similar to Bluestacks)
Disable Hardware Acceleration in your BIOS
Install NoxPlayer, do a first run with an emulator.
Restart and enable Hardware Acceleration in your BIOS again to improve performance.

The problem can easily be solve by using following steps:
Turn off battery saver mode if it ON.
Close the bluestack application.
Open task manager or Press Ctrl+shift+Esc and end all Background process with bluestack.
(The 3-4 process are
Bluestack 4
Bluestack Agent
Bluestack Android host
Bluestack Server Interface
).
Close all applications.
Restart the bluestack application.
I also faced the same issue on my new spec: R5 5600X on MSI B550M.
This is how i solved it:
Uninstall windows updates: Didn't Work.
Enable SVM(Must be enabled anyway): Didn't Work.
Refresh Windows(Download from Cloud): Worked :)

I am brand new to docker with windows. I have installed the Docker toolbox version as my laptop cannot run hyper-v. After the installation of Docker Toolbox (OS is Windows 10 Home) I run Docker Quickstart Terminal and in the console, I see this:
Running pre-create checks...
Error with pre-create check: "This computer doesn't have VT-X/AMD-v enabled. Enabling it in the BIOS is mandatory"
Looks like something went wrong in step ´Checking if machine default exists´... Press any key to continue...
I have opened my BIOS menu to try to change this but I am not presented with an option to do so as if it's hidden. I've no idea how to get around this and other StackOverflow solutions are not fixing my issue.
My Laptop model is an Acer Aspire E1-531.
Any help on enabling the VT-X/AMD-v would be brilliant thanks
You really don't need a new laptop. If the virtualization is disabled, you may enable it while turning on your system.
From: https://amiduos.com/support/knowledge-base/article/enabling-virtualization-technology-in-hp-systems
Turn ON the System
Repeatedly press Esc key at startup.
Press the F10 key for BIOS Setup.
Press the right arrow key to System Configuration tab, Select Virtualization
Technology and then press the Enter key.
Select Enabled and press the Enter key.
Press the F10 key and select Yes and press the Enter key to save changes and Reboot.
Follow this link to see your laptop support VT-X/AMD-v. If not then you have no other choice other than changing your laptop to run hypervisors.
I have a Windows 10 64-bit PC (fresh install, not an upgrade).
When I run the setup file (web or offline alike) in order to install Visual Studio (2013 or 2015, Community edition), all I get is a small black rectangle on the screen (which I later found out that this is actually the title of the setup popup window), without the actual window of the installation.
I have tried it also after a reboot, and with various "versions" of the installation files (web, iso, standalone), but it's always the same situation.
What can I do about it? VS is my main development tool and I really need it on this computer as soon as possible.
Similar problem here. Program install ok but display blank screen after launched.
Problem solved when I changed my Nvidia graphics's global 3D setting to integrated graphics.
Right click desktop
Select Nvidia Control Panel
Select Manage 3D Settings
Under preferred graphics processor, select integrated graphics.
Apply.
If you are using a laptop with an external monitor, try unplugging it and using your primary monitor to launch. This worked for me. Laptops often have dual graphics cards and I believe we're hitting some issue with the way the Installer for VS was written (likely WPF)
Once I launced it and started the installation, I could safely plug my monitor in and it kept working properly.
I'm using an AMD GPU, It was a blank white screen but when I hover the mouse over it, I can see the text events
By the way
I went to my AMD Radeon Settings and saw that vs_installershell.exe and vs_setup_bootstrapper.exe were added automatically to the Switchable Graphics list
they were with Not Assigned Option which usually is like High Performace Option
means It would run it with my ATI GPU.
So I clicked on them
Selected Power Saving Option (to work with my Intel GPU)
Which worked and I can see the window of visual studio installer back
after restarting visual studio installer for sure.
whether is your graphics card, just turn on power saving for it.
Had the same issue. Since this topic is not accept any answare, there is one from https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/problem/150888/visual-studio-installer-shows-blank-screen.html
Try to open installer as Admin.
You will probably have blank screen. Do not close it!
Open installer once more.
Hope it help other people with same issue.
the same thing happened to me, i didn't do anything i just waited for it and it started showing it's status, i suggest you close other running programs to avoid conflicts and performance hindering, and try it again.
This seems like a very shoddy issue. I've run into this problem too, and I tested all solutions that I came across online. These all work:
Running the installer as administrator, which is a blank screen. Leave it open and run a second instance of the installer, which will not be blank (doesn't need to be run as administrator the second time.
Changing screen settings so that the laptop screen is not being used.
Downloading the AMD Settings application, and setting vs_installershell.exe to run on powersaving mode. Restart the installer after saving the settings.
Use a default graphics driver instead of the AMD one.
I had the the same problem in my laptop. The temporary solution is: start the installer only without the battery, if installer starts you can connect the cable, it works fine.
I had to run integrated graphics rather than my Nvdia. That solved it for me.
Remember to change it back when programming in OpenGL and DirectX otherwise you may get a list of messages staying that nothing works.
I had the the same problem in my laptop. The work around is, in device management, remove the amd graphics or start the installer only with battery.
After installing new Windows8 ultimate OS.
Brightness control keys are not working of my laptop.
My laptop model is TOSHIBA SATELLITE C660D
I search for drivers but not find suitable and working driver for my laptop.
I have the similar issue and have solved it like this
Just right click --> My Device/Mycomputer ---> Manage --->Device Manager
Then find Monitor open Monitor section
And then right click on Generic PnP Monitor and click enable
Then you will be able to use brightness keys in window 10 and 8
I have similar issue with Lenovo Y570. The software for managing fan speed does not wortking properly - it does not manage fan speed. Try to install soft which manages brighetness for windows 7 and compatibility mode.
P.S. Don't forget to create Restore point first.
Try to rollback driver to Windows default driver.
goto Control Panel - Device Manager - Display Devices - Right Click on Intel Graphics - Click on RollBack - Confirm - Ok.
Sometimes, I have the situation that Windows waits at boot time for the kernel debugger to be attached. You see the text "Windows starting" but not the logo yet.
If I attach the debugger now, Windows 7's logo animation is played. Aftwards the logo starts to pulse. At this stage the boot process does not advance anymore. CPU usage drops to a minimum.
I wait usually several minutes, but nothing happens.
This does not happen all the time. However, if it happens, a VM reset won't help. I need to use startup repair to fix this problem. Unfortunately, it takes forever.
Any ideas what I can do except running startup repair ?
Thanks in advance !
To fix the problem you encountered, you just need to press F10 during boot up. And remove /debug and related parameters. Then press enter.
Suggestion:
Do not use /debug parameter for your default boot menu option. Copy your boot configuration to a new entry. Then set it to debug mode.
Windows don't know when you will use the debugger. So it has to wait.
Thanks.
I could solve the issue by leaving the mouse) inside the VM during bootup... Don't know why, but it solves the problem for me.
I'm debugging Win Embedded POSReady 7 SP1 x86 within VMware Workstation v9.0.2 on a Win7 Enterprise x64 host.
I have been using zend studio 5.5.1 for the last year and and a half (on windows xp), with some occasional issues, such as a blank error dialog box when I started the program, but always went away when i restarted my computer, and usually got messages about javaw.exe errors.
But now, the program does not open at all. What happens is, I get a little dialog that says Loading project - this is normal... but then, nothing. The zend program item is sitting in the taskbar, but when i click on it - nothing! there is nothing to show. i can right click and press close, but that is all.
restarting computer did not help. i just uninstalled it, downloaded again from zend website, and reinstalled. tried opening - get loading box, seems to have loaded, even got tip of the day box. but there is nothing showing behind them. once i closed the tip box, i dont have any indication that zend is open besides the program item in the taskbar. windows task manager says it is running...
anyone have a clue? help!!! thanks
UPDATE:
I found this blog post with a fix for Linux... I am a windows user and that is greek to me, anyone who can translate for me what I can do for windows?
wow, did a google search for the equivalent of rm -r ZDE as suggested in the link above, and then I typed the following in the cmd prompt: rmdir /s ZDE
voila! it works!!!!
Running Zend Studio 5.5.1 on Windows 7:
Right click Zend-icon for Windows 7 program properties
On Compatibility tab set modus to Windows Vista and apply
Enjoy!
