NotReadableError: Failed to allocate audiosource in Firefox for getUserMedia - firefox

Running the below snippet in my Firefox console returns the following error [FF/56.0.2 (64-bit) on Mac OS 10.13.1]:
MediaStreamError { name: "NotReadableError", message: "Failed to
allocate audiosource", constraint: "", stack: "" } (unknown)
// Sippet
navigator.mediaDevices
.getUserMedia({
audio: true,
video: true
})
.then(stream=>{
console.log(stream.getAudioTracks())
document.getElementById('storybook-preview-iframe').contentWindow.document.getElementById('video-camera').srcObject = stream
mr = new window.MediaRecorder(stream, {
mimeType: 'video/webm'
})
mr.ondataavailable = console.log
})
.catch(console.log)
What is most troubling is it worked at one point, and then it stopped. As if something is permanently locked up... I have no way (as far as I can tell) to see what is wrong with the audio source.
I ran these insanity checks to no avail:
No other browsers or app were open and/or using camera
Restarted browser, and eventually restarted computer
I'm on a mac, and heard this would help #> sudo killall AppleCameraAssistant;sudo killall VDCAssistant. It did not.
Ran a separate script (https://jsfiddle.net/App7P/348/) but when I turned the audio to true (https://jsfiddle.net/3k89sy27/2/), I got the same error as above.
This example/demo page on getusermedia also garnered the same error: https://webrtc.github.io/samples/src/content/getusermedia/record/
Update: I've simplified the failure code even more.
navigator.mediaDevices.getUserMedia({
audio: true
}).then(function (stream) {
console.log(stream)
}).catch(console.log)
Audio does not want to register.....
Even tried FF's own Test Pilot and that failed too https://testpilot.firefox.com/experiments/voice-fill/

as #mrchestnut suggested, I downloaded Firefox Quantum (which was released as of Nov. 14th 2017) and it worked!
Blog Post on Mozilla:

Although this doesn't explain why it didn't work, it sure has sugar solved my problem.

Why would AllocateStreamingResources fail with error code 0x80004005?

I'm trying to get the demo for the AEC DMO working (found here). It works, but only on certain machines. On those machines it fails on, AllocateStreamingResources fails with error code 0x80004005. The exact line of code is here.
I ran dependency walker on the .exe the demo code produces and on the machines it fails on, no dependency failures were detected. The code just doesn't do anything after reporting AllocateStreamingResources failed.
I'm running with the following parameters: -out mic_out.pcm -mod 0 -spkdev 0 -micdev 0.
All machines have functional speakers and microphones. Sound is playing out of the speakers when I run the application. Any thoughts?
I have solved similar problem by:
Uninstall audio device in the Device Manager
Reboot

VLC : which file to update VLC Lua youtube script on Mac OS X?

I am trying to read a youtube video through VLC on my mac:
/Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/VLC -v https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afzmwAKUppU&app=desktop
Which gives errors :

The youtube.lua, I got it by downloading the file from internet :
curl "http://git.videolan.org/?p=vlc.git;a=blob_plain;f=share/lua/playlist/youtube.lua;hb=HEAD" -o /Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/share/lua/extensions/youtube.lua
Which works on my ubuntu, but not in my Mac: I am wondering if this is not the correct version for Mac OS. And so, which file should be put there ?
If I look on the VLC Lua directory, I find :
/Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/share/lua/extensions$ ls -l
total 192
-rw-r--r--# 1 romain admin 72K Aug 14 2019 VLSub.luac
-rw-r--r-- 1 root admin 22K Oct 15 13:35 youtube.lua
the youtube.lua is the new script I added, but maybe it was another one to put there ?
Probably a bit late here now, but in any case:
You need to take the youtube.lua from here: https://github.com/videolan/vlc/blob/master/share/lua/playlist/youtube.lua
Then rename it to youtube.luac and place it in the directory (for MacOS) /Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/share/lua/playlist
I would recommend renaming the old one and keeping it in case something goes awry.
At least on my computer this worked and I can now open YouTube videos in VLC again.
Have you tried the 3.0.11.1 release? https://get.videolan.org/vlc/3.0.11.1/macosx/vlc-3.0.11.1.dmg
You're correct that youtube.lua would be the correct file, though the issue might come from other parts of the code depending on it. FYI, since you are running a stable VLC build, the code you should look at is https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc-3.0/-/blob/master/share/lua/playlist/youtube.lua.
https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc/-/blob/master/share/lua/playlist/youtube.lua is nightly v4 unstable builds (though for the lua script, they are identical).
Additionally, look out for a new release with an updated script soon https://mailman.videolan.org/pipermail/vlc-devel/2020-October/139076.html

Pebble can't install app in any way - cloudpebble or command line

I've enjoyed developing simple apps for my pebble watch, but since yesterday I cannot install any new ones on my phone (I do have spare slots on pebble).
I've tried installing old (working) apps via cloudpebble portal, but I get following:
Saving
Compiling
Preparing to install app
Installation rejected. Check your phone for details.
(Phone message: There was an error trying to install the provided app.)
So I've tried installation through a command line:
$ pebble install --cloudpebble -vvvv
But this is the output:

Installing app...
App install failed.
INFO:root:Spent 0.001597 seconds waiting for analytics.
I've tried several things to resolve this issue:
creating new project from provided template;
disconnecting the watch;
watch factory reset;
iOS pebble app reinstallation;
creating and linking to a new cloudpebble account,
but still no luck installing any new apps or reinstalling old ones...
Any help would be greatly appreciated (or more tips on what else to try...).
PS: Apps load just fine in an emulator.
PS2: I can download and install apps from the store just fine [I found PixelMiner that way : )].
PS3: I do have a developer connection on and there is a valid IP shown on iOS app.
I got an answer from Morris on pebble forums. I was developing for SDK3, but still running older version of firmware on a pebble watch. After an update, deployment works again!
Original response:
You are building with the latest SDK but your watch has not the latest firmware.
You either have to upgrade your Pebble Classic to firmware V3.8.2 (see Upgrade to SDK3) or if you want to build for the old firmware you have to use SDK2 instead (see SDK2)

Why am i getting a ENOTEMPTY error?

So i create a default meteor app.
Its runs great.
Now I add a simple insert in the startup function.
its is now giving me exceptions.
Here is my app.js code:
Book = new Meteor.Collection("book");
if (Meteor.isClient) {
Template.hello.greeting = function () {
return "Welcome to app_01.";
};
Template.hello.events({
'click input' : function () {
// template data, if any, is available in 'this'
if (typeof console !== 'undefined')
console.log("You pressed the button");
}
});
}
if (Meteor.isServer) {
Meteor.startup(function () {
if (Book.find().count() === 0) {
var names = ["Ada Lovelace",
"Grace Hopper",
"Marie Curie",
"Carl Friedrich Gauss",
"Nikola Tesla",
"Claude Shannon"];
for (var i = 0; i < names.length; i++)
Book.insert({name: names[i], score: Math.floor(Math.random()*10)*5});
}
});
}
And here is the exception I am getting:
No dependency info in bundle. Filesystem monitoring disabled.
Errors prevented startup:
Exception while bundling application:

Please fix the problem and restart.
The console gives me no useful information at all.
Some more info:
I am using the windows version of meteor 0.5.4
My code has both tabs and spaces as indentation (should that be a problem?)
to add to my perplexity:
If i run the leaderboard example, it runs perfectly.
When I run the default project with my modified startup code, i get the exception. >.<
More info:
when the server crashed, the mongod service was still running in windows. In my infinite wisdom, i thought I'll kill it and maybe try a fresh restart of it.
now i get a new error:
PS C:\Users\Office\Workspace\Code\Meteor\app_01> meteor
[[[[[ C:\Users\Office\Workspace\Code\Meteor\app_01 ]]]]]
Unexpected mongo exit code 100. Restarting.
Unexpected mongo exit code 100. Restarting.
Unexpected mongo exit code 100. Restarting.
Can't start mongod
MongoDB had an unspecified uncaught exception.
Check to make sure that MongoDB is able to write to its database directory.
Edit: now deleted the .meteor/local/db contents. we are now back to the ENOTEMPTY error.
It is because the directory is not getting deleted during the bundling operation.
So when this happens, Stop your server with ctrl + c.
Then delete the contents of .meteor\local\db directory as well as .meteor\local\builds directory and run the server again using meteor command.
Not an ideal way, but it works.
Just tested this on my mac and on my Windows machine, it works fine for me. (Copied and pasted your code into app.js, did not change anything anywhere else, as I understood this is what you did).
There are two ways to go on:
You try meteor reset. Warning: This will empty any databases you had within this app, but I think there isn't anything all to important in there at the moment?
You delete the app and make a new one using meteor create appname, and copy the source code from above into app.js.
I think investing too much time and effort is not worth it, since it is not an app close to production stage. If, however, creating a new app causes the same problem, it will get interesting =)
EDIT: Just searched around and found this: https://github.com/TomWij/meteor/issues/18
Scroll down to the answer; apparently it might be your antivirus scanner preventing Meteor from rebuilding it. Is that possible?
Also, are you starting Meteor from anything else than cmd.exe? I just read through the issue on GitHub, and things seem to be pretty gnarly when using anything else than cmd.exe (eg the GitHub Bash Shell)
Once my pull request goes in, this issue should be resolved:
https://github.com/TomWij/meteor/pull/56

Quartz composer HLS video trouble

I have a Quartz Composer Version 4.5 (141.5) on my MacOS 10.7.2 and a QuickTime Framework version 7.6.6.
All I want is just render test HLS video stream using QC. HLS stream is just an apple test stream: http://devimages.apple.com/iphone/samples/bipbop/bipbopall.m3u8
So, I've created a sketch:
(It's a MovieImporter patch covered by stream url)
Next all I can see in QC Viewer is just a blank screen and infinite debug log:
17:08:42.233 ["Movie Importer" # "Macro Patch"] > Execution failed at time 2802.003
17:08:42.313 ["Movie Importer" # "Macro Patch"] > Failed retrieving image from movie <QTMovie: 0x7fd992e02d00 time scale = 600, duration = 2184000, rate = 0.000000, tracks = { 0x7fd992f1a0e0 0x7fd992e205c0 0x7fd992e12310 0x7fd9928b11b0 0x7fd9928a7990 }> (error (null))
Also I've tried to launch same sketch on MacOS 10.6.8, QC 4.0(103.1), but unsuccessfully.
What the problem? Where I'm wrong?
It may be related to your Quartz Composer version adn Mac OS X Lion.
Try downloading the new version, as said here : http://kineme.net/forum/General/QCFramework148MovieImporterpatch
