I want to set a kendo grid header fixed. After a lot of internet search I cannot find what I exactly want to do.
This post on telerik doc show how to fix header on top of window : https://docs.telerik.com/kendo-ui/controls/data-management/grid/how-to/Layout/fixed-headers-grid
But it's not exactly what I want to do. I want the header fixed when scrolling the page on the location it is on the page load.
How can I do this ?
After hard work and insanity test I finally found how to fix this grid header. So I share it here because I think many people want to do this...
I rework the telerik tutorial a little for fix the header where you want, take in consideration if the grid has a toolbar and to be reusable :)
CSS :
.fixed-header {
position: fixed;
width: auto;
z-index: 10000;
}
Javascript ('#main-header' is the selector of my website main menu) :
/**
* Fix grid header
* #param {kendo.ui.Grid} grid - The grid
* #param {string} [selector] - The selector of the element which the header must be "stuck" on scrolling, by default the main menu
*/
function fixGridHeader(grid, selector) {
var wrapper = grid.wrapper,
toolbar = wrapper.find(".k-grid-toolbar"),
header = wrapper.find(".k-grid-header");
function resizeFixed() {
var paddingRight = parseInt(header.css("padding-right"));
header.css("width", wrapper.width() - paddingRight);
}
function scrollFixed(selector) {
var offset = $(selector ? selector : '#main-header').offset().top + $(selector ? selector : '#main-header').outerHeight(),
tableOffsetTop = wrapper.offset().top,
top = $('#main-header').height() + (selector ? $(selector).height() : 0);
if (offset >= tableOffsetTop) {
header.addClass("fixed-header");
if (toolbar.length > 0) {
toolbar.addClass("fixed-header");
toolbar.css({ 'top': top, width: "100%" });
header.css({ 'top': top + toolbar.innerHeight() });
}
else {
header.css({ 'top': top });
}
}
else {
header.removeClass("fixed-header");
if (toolbar.length > 0)
toolbar.removeClass("fixed-header");
}
}
resizeFixed();
$(window).resize(resizeFixed);
$(window).scroll(function () { scrollFixed(selector); });
}

I have slick carousel and slick lightbox.
The latter has no dots or navigation links. How to add them?
Since lightbox using slick itself:
Add dots : true to dist/slick-lightbox.js (or rebuild coffeescript)
SlickLightbox.prototype.initSlick = function (index) {
/* Runs slick by default, using `options.slick` if provided. If `options.slick` is a function, it gets fired instead of us initializing slick. Merges in initialSlide option. */
var additional;
additional = { initialSlide: index, dots:true };
//...
}
Add styles to make them available
.slick-dots {
bottom: 0;
}
.slick-dots li button::before {
color: #9f9f9f;
}
.slick-dots li.slick-active button::before {
color: white;
}
I am making a webpage with a "time line" style, it's navigated horizontally but has a fixed menu with an element that slides along a bar when you click on every element.
Now I was using a blueprint of vertical timeline that also moved the element across the bar when you got to the element by scrolling normally
http://www.webdesigncrowd.com/demo/slider-timeline-menu-12.2.13/
Now, I am using a page-wrap div to keep the elements within a certain boundary along with a css style for the body to stack elements horizontally.
When I click on ever it takes me to the correct page like normal, and the bar element works as intended, but the feature for it to work when the linked element moves into view doesn't seem to work anymore
This is the original JS code
// Scroll Spy
$(window).scroll(function() {
var top = $(window).scrollTop() + 100; // Take into account height of fixed menu
$(".container").each(function() {
var c_top = $(this).offset().top;
var c_bot = c_top + $(this).height();
var hash = $(this).attr("id");
var li_tag = $('a[href$="' + hash + '"]').parent();
if ((top > c_top) && (top < c_bot)) {
if (li_tag.hasClass("active")) {
return false;
} else {
li_tag.siblings().andSelf().removeClass("active");
li_tag.addClass("active");
$(".menu ul li.active a").slideToPos();
}
}
});
});
And this is what I edited to try to make it work on a Horizontal display.
// Scroll Spy
$(window).scroll(function() {
var left = $(window).scrollLeft() + 1300; // Take into account height of fixed menu
$(".container").each(function() {
var c_Left = $(this).offset().left;
var c_bot = c_left + $(this).width();
var hash = $(this).attr("id");
var li_tag = $('a[href$="' + hash + '"]').parent();
if ((left > c_Left) && (left < c_bot)) {
if (li_tag.hasClass("active")) {
return false;
} else {
li_tag.siblings().andSelf().removeClass("active");
li_tag.addClass("active");
$(".menu ul li.active a .navut").slideToPos();
}
}
});
});
Now I have tried using the original one without change too, but that feature is still not working.
I thank you guys in advance.
With ref. to above subject, I am using wookmark plugin to scroll our home page data dynamically….I have studied the tutorial provided on wookmark and I m using the exact script provided by wookmark and working fine shorts of not 100% working.
Things it stucks when it reaches at bottom of the window then we slightly press the up arrow key, that loads the products again and this is happens randomly some time it scrolls perfectly and some time it stucks and if presses up arrow key it starts working again.
Kindly help me out where I m going wrong. Kindly provide me the easy working script for the same.
I m using following code :
(function ($) {
$('#main').imagesLoaded(function () {
var handler = null;
// Prepare layout options.
var options = {
itemWidth: 200, // Optional min width of a grid item
autoResize: true, // This will auto-update the layout when the browser window is resized.
container: $('#main'), // Optional, used for some extra CSS styling
offset: 20, // Optional, the distance between grid items
outerOffset: 20, // Optional the distance from grid to parent
flexibleWidth: 300 // Optional, the maximum width of a grid item
};
function applyLayout() {
$('#main').imagesLoaded(function () {
// Destroy the old handler
if (handler.wookmarkInstance) {
handler.wookmarkInstance.clear();
}
// Create a new layout handler.
handler = $('#display li');
handler.wookmark(options);
});
handler.wookmark(options);
}
/**
* When scrolled all the way to the bottom, add more tiles.
*/
function onScroll(event) {
// Check if we're within 100 pixels of the bottom edge of the broser window.
var winHeight = window.innerHeight ? window.innerHeight : $(window).height(); // iphone fix
//var closeToBottom = ($(window).scrollTop() >= $((document)).height() - $((window)).height() - $("#footer").height() - 500); //(($(window).scrollTop() - 100)); //+ "%"
var closeToBottom = ($(window).scrollTop() + winHeight > $(document).height() - 100);
if (closeToBottom) {
// Get the first then items from the grid, clone them, and add them to the bottom of the grid.
var items = $('#display li'),
firstTen = items.slice(0, 10);
//$('#display').append(firstTen.clone());
applyLayout();
}
};
// Capture scroll event.
$(window).bind('scroll', onScroll);
// Call the layout function.
handler = $('#display li');
handler.wookmark(options);
});
$(window).load(function () {
handler.wookmark(options);
});
})(jQuery);
If you commented out
//$('#display').append(firstTen.clone());
then the new items will not be loaded on the end of list. You need to uncomment that line to get new items.
In real life instead of
var items = $('#display li'),
firstTen = items.slice(0, 10);
$('#display').append(firstTen.clone());
you would need a code that will load new items.
Also I think it might make sense to change > to >=
var closeToBottom = ($(window).scrollTop() + winHeight >= $(document).height() - 100);
to load new items if scroll position is more or equal to the height of window - 100, where 100 is just some value - you could try 200 or even more to see if it will work better for you.
I'm loading a page into a div. I'm also attempting to establish a waypoint, so that when the user scrolls down the page, the menu will change colors.
The problem I am having is the new height of the div is not recognized by the browser once the ajax content is loaded.
Here's what I have:
$(".cta").live('click', function () {
$('#faq').load('about-us/faqs/index.html'),
function () {
$("#faq").waypoint(function (event, direction) {
if (direction === 'up') {
$("#siteNav li a").removeClass("siteNavSelected");
$("#siteNav li.nav3 a").addClass("siteNavSelected");
}
}, {
offset: function () {
return $.waypoints('viewportHeight') - $("#faq").outerHeight();
}
});
}
return false;
});
Any ideas? Thanks.
Use $.waypoints('refresh');, from the documentation:
This will force a recalculation of each waypoint’s trigger point based on its offset option. This is called automatically whenever the window is resized or new waypoints are added. If your project is changing the DOM or page layout without doing one of these things, you may want to manually call it.
I'm not familiar with the intrinsics of the waypoint plugin, but you could also bind a scroll event and then capture the .scrollTop() value. Would look something like this:
$(document).bind('scroll', function(event) {
var scrollTop = $(window).scrollTop();
if (scrollTop < 1000 && $('siteNav li').hasClass('styleA')) { return; }
else {
$('siteNav li').removeClass('styleB');
$('siteNav li').addClass('styleA');
}
if (scrollTop > 1000 && $('siteNav li').hasClass('styleB')) { return; }
else {
$('siteNav li').removeClass('styleA');
$('siteNav li').addClass('styleB');
}
});
You have to play with the values a little to get it acting at the right spot. Also you have to use a greater or less than value in the test as if a user is at the top of the page and uses the scroll-wheel on his mouse to fly down the page, you don't get every value in between.
I change the color of some cells in the gridComplete: function(){ . This override the hover or selected color. I want to make the hover and selected colors the highest level. i.e. if I selected a colored row, it changes to the selected color.
I suppose your question continues your previous question about the the color of the some cells. I created another demo which code is longer as my previous example from my answer to your previous question.
The main problem with the setting of the color of the cell (<td> element) is that the class of cell has of course higher priority as the classes of row because by the definition of the row classes was no "!important" attribute used. So to be able to make the selected of hovered cell be exactly like other standard cells one have to remove the cell class which changes its color. After "unselecting" or "unhovering" the corresponding row one should restore the removed cell class (the 'ui-state-error ui-state-error-text' classes). I implemented this behavior with the following code:
var grid = $("#list");
var saveErrorStateInData = function(ptr) {
var redCells = $("td.ui-state-error",ptr);
if (redCells.length > 0) {
var errorCells=[];
$.each(redCells,function(index, value) {
errorCells.push(value);
$(value).removeClass("ui-state-error ui-state-error-text");
});
$(ptr).data('errorCells',errorCells);
}
};
var restoreErrorStateFromData = function(ptr) {
var errorCells = $(ptr).data('errorCells');
if (errorCells && typeof errorCells.length !== "undefined"
&& errorCells.length>0) {
$.each(errorCells,function(index, value) {
$(value).addClass("ui-state-error ui-state-error-text");
});
}
};
grid.jqGrid({
// all jqGrid parameters
beforeSelectRow: function(rowid, e) {
var selrowid = $(this).getGridParam('selrow');
restoreErrorStateFromData($("#"+selrowid)[0]);
ptr = $(e.target).closest("tr.jqgrow");
saveErrorStateInData(ptr);
return true;
}
}).bind('mouseover',function(e) {
var ptr = $(e.target).closest("tr.jqgrow");
if($(ptr).attr("class") !== "subgrid") {
$(ptr).addClass("ui-state-hover");
saveErrorStateInData(ptr);
}
return false;
}).bind('mouseout',function(e) {
var ptr = $(e.target).closest("tr.jqgrow");
var selrowid = grid.getGridParam('selrow');
$(ptr).removeClass("ui-state-hover");
if (ptr.length === 1 && ptr[0].id !== selrowid) {
restoreErrorStateFromData(ptr);
}
return false;
});
On the demo you will see how all this work.
Sorry for answering this old question, but I hope someone else might find it useful. After searching quite a while for a solution, I came up with this:
Add a dummy class (with no styles) to the column using the jqGrid colmodel option 'classes'.
Add a style setting the background using a selector like this:
tr.jqgrow:not(.ui-state-hover):not(.ui-state-highlight) td.mydummycol {
background-color: #ffd !important;
}
This way the background is only applied if the row is not selected or in the hover state.
