From the explanation : ^-- where CUSTOM_URL_SCHEME is the custom URL scheme you defined in your Xcode project.
I still really don't know where CUSTOM_URL_SCHEME is.

I've duplicated my Xcode project - basically I'm creating an app with similar functionality but with different content. I duplicated the main folder and updated the names in the new project for the new app following a guide on Youtube that was on another thread, but when I updated the background of the storyboard for the new app, I've now seen it has changed the storyboard of the original app, so it must be using the same story file, or be linked somehow.
Please can someone suggest what I might have done wrong, or what I need to do when duplicating the project to avoid the same story file being used.
Please check the "Full path" of your file like shown below. Make also sure, that all your other files are linked correctly.

To link a document type to my application so that my application is responsible for opening up of that document.
XCode 5 works very different... Under your Target, Info tab is a "Document Types" line... am not sure how to use this, is there a sample for me?

I'm sure you've either figured this out or moved on, but a little tip for most of these tutorials: you can often download the completed code from the website. I did so, and loaded it up in Xcode 5.0, and it works fine. Here's a screenshot of the plist entries (that's under Resources/ScaryBugs-Info.plist) for Document and Export:
Another way to change the Document types in Xcode is via the Project Info (select the project in the Navigator, then the target in the projects and targets list, then the info tab). Here's a screenshot of what that stuff looked like for me:

I'm using Marmalade to develop iOS applications via VisualStudio and a PC. The integration of a social feature like HeyZap needs its initialization by the use of:
loadHeyzap("YOUR_APP_ID_HERE","YOUR_APP_URL_HERE", true);
App_ID is the ID as defined in the itunes app page (I got it).
App_URL "should also similarly be replaced with your URL scheme for the iPhone" [from the HeyZap integration doc].
Well, the HeyZap help desk weren't useful to obtain this string via the use of VisualStudio+PC (in fact, they told me "use XCode+Mac instead...").
Since this is a simple string, I suppose I could obtain it starting from known parameters of my app. I suppose to find inside it something like [app_name]&=other-chars-....
Is there a way to build this string without the use of XCode, just starting from info I already have and putting here and there some special chars?
In other words, is there a standard way to automate the build of this string without the neeed to do it via XCode? I wonder to prepare a function in which I would pass my app parameters and I got the URL Scheme string as a result.

The answer by Creator is incorrect. A URL schema is how apps can communicate with each other in iOS.

Here's how you would define one in XCode
When you define a URL schema in XCode, you can call that URL from Safari or any app installed on the device and it will switch to your game.
The way you define it in XCode is by going to your project settings, clicking the Info tab at the top, going to the bottom where it says "URL Types", expand that, and click the + button at the bottom. Then define both the identifier and the URL schemes with something reasonably unique like "yourgamename". Done!

URL scheme is most probably the url of your app in App Store. You can obtain it from iTunesConnect. Go to your application and copy the url of View in App Store link. That's the string you wanted ;-)

Well App url worked for me, dunno why its not working for you. If you want to edit the URL scheme, you can do it without using XCode too. You need to include Info.plist file in the mkb settings. You can edit or check the current URL scheme being used by marmalade there. The default plist file is in the s3e folder. Don't know the exact location.
This problem is almost certainly gonna have a really simple answer, but I just can't see it. I'm programming an app for the iPhone in Xcode and I'm trying to create an instance of an ABPerson object, but can't. In my .h file, I am importing as follows:
#import <AddressBook/AddressBook.h>
#import <AddressBook/ABPerson.h>
Then when I try to create it using "ABPerson *person;", it gives the error, "Unknown type name 'ABPerson'".
I have searched the internet and there doesn't seem to be much on the use of ABPerson and where I have seen it used, they have done it like this and its worked fine.
Ultimately, I want to create a VCard containing the details of somebody which the user can then save to their phone so if you know of another way of doing this which would eliminate this problem, that would also be great.

Have you added the AddressBook framework to your app? Look in XCode4, look at your project file -> Build Phases -> Link Binary with Libraries.

can someone tell me how to convert code templates from xcode3 to xcode4?
I am reading article at http://iphonedevelopment.blogspot.com/2009/04/opengl-es-from-ground-up-part-2-look-at.html and author offers his OpenGLES code template, but I can't get it working in new xcode4, seems it have different format. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem, here is a list of the changes you need to do to make your xcode 3 templates works with xcode 4 :
First you have to move your templates to a new directory :
/YourUserDirectory/Library/Developer/Xcode/Templates/File Templates
(previously it was /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/Library/Xcode/File Templates)
Then you need to :
rename your templates from "*.pbfiletemplate" to ".xctemplate"
rename class.h into ___FILEBASENAME___.h (the class.m can stay unchanged)
inside all of your files change «FILEBASENAMEASIDENTIFIER» into ___FILEBASENAMEASIDENTIFIER___
Additonaly all the key words like «FILENAME», «PROJECTNAME», need to be replaced by ___FILENAME___, ___PROJECTNAME___, etc
«OPTIONALHEADERIMPORTLINE» needs to be replaced by #import "___FILEBASENAME___.h"

Until XCode 4 is finalised, there's probably not much point in this. However, you can side by side install XCode 3 and 4 and the XCode project format is compatible between them. Hence, I'd just install the template in XCode 3, create your new project(s), then open the results in XCode 4.
