I have downloaded and installed a Windows native compiled OpenFOAM from here. But when I try to run any of the OF commands (e.g., blockMesh, foamDictionary, ...) in the MSYS2 terminal I get the message:
path/to/folder/v2106/msys64/home/ofuser/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-v2106/platforms/win64MingwDPInt32Opt/bin/blockMesh.exe: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-6.dll: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
and in the cmd terminal, I get the error message:
System Error The code execution cannot proceed because msmpi.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.
From here, I see that I might have to reinstall OpenFOAM in admin mode, which I don't have on this work machine. so I tried installing MSMPI using pacman -S msmpi as I used to do here. But I get the error message:
error: target not found: msmpi
My goal is to install and use the OpenFOAM software, doesn't matter which release, on this Windows machine without admin privileges. I would appreciate it if you could help me know how can I fix the above problems, or find another way around.
P.S.1. Searching the installation directory, I see that the libstdc++-6.dll file is in the path\to\folder\v2106\msys64\home\ofuser\OpenFOAM\OpenFOAM-v2106\platforms\win64MingwDPInt32Opt\bin. So I wonder I get the first error message. Maybe OF is not compiled properly against the library? Should I try removing the path\to\folder\v2106\msys64\usr\lib\gcc\x86_64-pc-msys\7.4.0\libstdc++.dll.a as suggested here?
P.S.2. I had written this post ages ago about different ways to install OpenFOAM on Windows. Sadly it is still a big effort to get it up and running.

With OpenFOAM-v2112 it is now possible to install without windows admin permissions.
The original problem will still be evident with older OpenFOAM versions since they relied on installing msmpi separately.
I would require some guidance in regards to installing a module/package in pycharm (free edition). I have to mention that i have not worked with this IDE yet and wanted to try it out on a little project containing smartcards.
When i try to install "pyscard" i get the error that boils down to
error: command 'swig.exe' failed: No such file or directory
People say just install SWIG, which i guessed already ^^.
The issue i have is that i actually have no idea how to... and none of the pages i found has really enlightended me on this issue.
I downloaded the zip "swigwin-3.0.12" but i am at a loss what to do with it now. EDIT: According to the SWIG page this is an already compiled version and i have to somehow make pycharm recognize that the folder it is in contains the swig.exe it requires.
EDIT2: Adding the folder containing the swig.exe to the PATH variable also did not work ... which i thought would be the issue

Ok the link in the comments from "wp78de" was correct my problem was that pycharm/pc restart were needed for it to catch the added PATH variable to the swig.exe (for pycharm that is)
Any advice is appriciated.

Basically, you just have to add the directory that contains the swig executable the PATH environment variable. You can do it via CMD or the Windows UI.
If you have added swig to your path, you should be able to call it in the command prompt from any directory: open "cmd", and type swig --help" on that prompt.
A restart of PyCharm (or whatever your IDE is) and Windows might be required.
I am trying to install mingw-w64 onto Windows. However I receive an error, "the file has been downloaded incorrectly". Redownloading the setup file again from sourceforge does not fix the problem. Is there an alternative way to install it or am I doing something wrong?

I give the solution which works for me
You can directly download the archive of MinGW64 with your chosen configuration :
https://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw-w64/files/mingw-w64/
Once the compressed file downloaded, you have just to extract and copy/paste the MinGW64 folder( with the pre-compiled librairies) to your chosen folder ( in my case : C:\mingw64)
I got same error and solved it, after struggling a few hours. You should download MinGW64 via https://winlibs.com/#download-release.
After downloading, You should unzip mingw64 file to a folder(in my case I unzipped it to c disk; C:\mingw64)
And then you have to set up path. for that follow below steps;
open settings.
Search for Edit environment variables for your
account.
choose path variable and then select edit.
Select New and add the Mingw-w64 folder path(bin folder). In my case, I added (C:\mingw64\bin).
Select OK to save the updated path.
And reopen your cmd, then check if everything is good by typing; gcc --version
Long story short, the official installer is broken and not been fixed for years, so we have to install it manually.

And in the same folder that contains the installer, there's a repository.txt. (about this file)
Take a look at it, the installer basically just download and unzip the build from one of these urls within repository.txt. Choose the url you want and download/upzip it manually. (In my case, I use 8.1.0|x86_64|posix|seh|rev0 setup)
Last, setup the Path environment variable pointing to your unzipped bin folder, let say C:\mingw64\bin, and this should do the trick.
Finally, I solved this problem by downloading this:http://winlibs.com/
GCC 10.1.0 + LLVM/Clang/LLD/LLDB 10.0.0 + MinGW-w64 7.0.0 - release 3 (LATEST)
Win32: 7-Zip archive* | Zip archive
Win64: 7-Zip archive* | Zip archive
and set the %path%
After that, I still can't execute gcc correctly, but then I solved the problem by adding this environment variable:
"CGO_ENABLED=1"
I encountered the problem when using this golang package: https://github.com/mattn/go-sqlite3
I received the same error. When I re-ran the installer as an adminstrator it was installed successfully.
I also made sure not to add any spaces to the installation path.

So the problem for me was that when I tried to use the .exe installer, it either showed me that,
"the file has been downloaded incorrectly" , or , the /.../bin folder did not have any files in it.
In the link above, the MinGW files (including the /bin files) were manually downloaded and identified properly by the Environment Variables.
The problem is with your internet connection and/or ISP. I'm not great at networking so I'll let others be more specific. I tried installing/downloading it using my mobile's data as wifi hotspot and it worked. Hope it helps

First of all, did you unpack the OMNeT Windows installation file with the on-board ZIP tools or another program? Try to use programs like WinRAR or 7-Zip to unpack the OMNeT++ installation, the on-board ZIP tool from Windows 7 might have problems with the MinGW files.
Second, does the path to the OMNeT++ installation contain any spaces or special characters? This might also be the source of errors.
Third, does the message immediately show after you start the mingwenv.cmd or after you start it and try to run ./configure or make to configure and build OMNeT?? Check if no antivirus might block the OMNeT sources / helper programs.
General note: under Windows, you always use the mingwenv.cmd shell to compile OMNeT, the normal Windows command environment does not have the necessary paths or settings for OMNMeT.
I am trying to install Pyqt but I am having significant issues getting all the seperate installation processes to work in sync. I have looked online but I can't find anything to help in my specific situation.
So far I have downloaded and built Sip4.16.7. I saved the file to a random location on my directory and ran the configure file, it then installed the module in /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/site-packages and seemed to work.
I then downloaded the latest version of Qt5.2 and installed it using the installer. The files are stored in /users/MyUsername/Qt
I then installed PyQt5.4.1 and tried to run the configure file but I obviously have an older version of qmake on my system as I get an error of Error: PyQt5 requires Qt v5.0 or later. You seem to be using v4.7.4. Use the
--qmake flag to specify the correct version of qmake. This is confirmed by typing qmake -v in the terminal and I get the output of QMake version 2.01a
Using Qt version 4.7.4 in /opt/anaconda1anaconda2anaconda3/lib. I have scoured the internet and I can't work out how to tell whether I have a new qmake for the Qt5.2 or If I have to make it. And I have no idea how to get set the right Qtmake directory for the new PyQt configure file.
I apologise for the very specific and confused question but I am totally lost at the moment. As an additional question When you download the PyQt and SIP files should they be saved in specific directories relative to each other?

There were 2 main problems:
1) The --qmake=/Users/MyUsername/Qt/5.4/ios/bin/qmake was directed to the iOS qmake which requires a subscription to apple developers program. using the --verbose option returned Check dependencies
Code Sign error: No code signing identities found: No valid signing identities (i.e. certificate and private key pair) matching the team ID “(null)” were found.
CodeSign error: code signing is required for product type 'Application' in SDK 'iOS 8.1'
The solution to this was to refer qmake to the clang-64 version to allow development on OS X not iOS.
2) I had saved the PyQt directory in my google drive and therefore there was a space in the file name. Therefore when I referred to the qmake in the clang-64 directory I got the error of ```clang: error: no such file or directory: Drive/Personal/Code/PyQT/PyQt-gpl-5.4.1 (when using --verbose) So I had to move the PyQT file to outside my google drive and rerun, and it worked fine.
