cant acces subdirectories Magento 1.9 - magento

I got magento on my own hosting and everything is running ok.
I created a landing (using HTML and CSS) and I wanted to include it inside my hosting.
I just created a folder inside root directory (where magento is loaded) and I uploaded my landing inside of that folder.
The problem comes when i try to access in that lading using my browser. I'm getting a 404 error by magento.
Can some one tell me if I am doing something wrong to be able to load that landing?
PS: I tried to delete cache, to reindex all files and still not working.

Change document root of Laravel

When I place a Laravel project into Apache's document root, say /var/www/html, it works when I point a browser at it.
However if I put it under a directory under Apache's document root, for example /var/www/html/myProject, it doesn't work when I point a browser at it.
Is there anyway I can change this behavior?
Thank you very much.
Edit:
When I put the Laravel project off a sub-directory off /var/www/html, Laravel complained that it could not write to the file laravel.log. After checking and changing the group ownership of the sub-directory, the index page came up normally.
However, the background image was missing, even after I changed the URI in the CSS stylesheet.
Furthermore, when I clicked on any link from the index page, I got a 404 Not Found Error. This is an Apache 404 and not a Laravel 404, which is styled differently.
OTOH, if I run the PHP server off this sub-directory and point my browser at localhost:8000, the links serve up pages correctly.
Thank you for your help.

404 error page when trying to access website (hostgator)

I have recently finished building my website and since I didn't know how to put it online I decided to follow this tutorial: https://youtu.be/tq7dqdHCc7U
Everything worked fine until I tried to upload my .html files. I copied them into a www folder I created, but when I try to access the site with myIP/~username, I get a 404 error page. What am I doing wrong?
I guess you have put html file in wrong directory. Please put a sample index.html in root directory and in public_html folder. and try to access with domain name. it should work
A 404 error means that a valid page wasn't found. The only html file that apache know to render automatically is an index.html file. That's the default for the root url (in your case: yourIP/~username). So to fix the problem, you can either change what apache looks for in a index page in your httpd.conf, rename one of your files to index.html, or just append the name of a file that does exist to the end of your URL: yourIP/~username/myPage.html

Magento Product images broken

my website Teentees few days back the site works normally. after some days some product images are broken. so i flushed cache storage, magento cache, and image cache. after that all product images are gone in frontend. how to resolve this
Provide wrtieable (0777) recusrive permission on media folder on root.
As Currently images from your site giving 404 error:
http://teentees.in/media/catalog/product/t/t/ttrncp1507105_1.jpg
Also Please check .htaccess file in media folder. If it is exist, try to rename that.

Magento front end links not working

I am trying to create a test environment for a Magento site. I downloaded all the files and the database and restored to XAMPP. I changed the two base urls in the core_config_data table to http://magento.local/magento/ and modified the Magento config file to connect to the local database. I also added magento.local in the hosts file. I'm using magento.local as I read Magento must have a . in the domain name. The site almost works except on the front end when on http://magento.local/magento/ and try and go to a different page it tries to access http://magento.local/pagename/ and gives a 404 error, i can access through http://magento.local/magento/index.php/pagename. I have also disabled Web Server Rewrites in the backend as I read that is supposed to fix this problem. Any suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks
Alex

Magento not using appropriate URL - 404 Page not found

I have a magento site running locally using WAMP and it works great. However I need to create a different site so I created a folder for this new site under htdocs.
In that folder I loaded the Magento files.
Created a new database for newsite with all rights in phpmyadmin.
Went to the localhost:8888/newsite and started Magento installation wizard.
In the configuration section of the wizard I entered all the info required: db name, user, password. For URL Base I used the default (http://localhost:8888/newsite). Selected allow charts and Allow apache rewrites. Finished installing magento.
Now magento is running on newsite. I can see the front and back-end of the site.
Here is the problem: When I create a category and/or subcategory, magento does create the menu link but when I click any category, the browser takes me to a 404 not found. Upon analyzing the URL that took me there i see that the URL is : http://localhost:8888/newsite/category.html BUT by adding "index.php" into the URL (http://localhost:8888/newsite/index.php/category.html , the page does work!
So this means magento IS creating the page for the category but the linking is somewhat wrong.
Now, I've been making sure that rewrite is enabled and after all, the other site I mentioned I have is working properly, so I assume rewrite is properly enabled.
So I need help finding:
Why is one site working and the other isn't?
How can I fix this issue?
Thank you!
Sounds like you haven't copied over the .htaccess file (in your Magento root folder). You need this file for the Apache rewrites to work.
