I have a problem with building PyTorch from source. I use Anaconda Python 3.6. I installed all the dependencies using conda and issued "python setup.py install" command to build it. It builds all files successfully but then it fails" at line 286 of caffe2/contrib/cuda-convnet2"

Installation with python 3.7 worked for me.
Try out the below steps
conda create -n <env_name> python=3.7
export CMAKE_PREFIX_PATH=/home/user/.conda/envs/<env_name> #change the path to yours
source activate <env_name>
conda install numpy pyyaml mkl mkl-include setuptools cmake cffi typing
conda install -c conda-forge opencv
conda install Pillow
git clone --recursive https://github.com/intel/pytorch
cd pytorch
mv caffe2/contrib/cuda-convnet2/ /tmp # Fix the bug removing the old package out
python setup.py install 2>&1 | tee build.out
Then try importing pytorch
cd ~
python
import torch

I solved this problem the following way:
If you have a non-conda pip as your default pip but conda python is your default python (as below)
>which -a pip
/home/<user>/.local/bin/pip
/home/<user>/.conda/envs/newenv/bin/pip
/usr/bin/pip
>which -a python
/home/<user>/.conda/envs/newenv/bin/python
/usr/bin/python
Then instead of just calling pip install , you can use the module flag -m with python so that it uses the anaconda python for the installation
python -m pip install
This installs the package to the anaconda library directory rather than to the library directory associated with (the non-anaconda) pip
I cant seem to install the right version of torch and I cant get fast ai libraries working
I try
Python 3.7
pip3 install https://download.pytorch.org/whl/cu100/torch-1.0.1-cp37-cp37m-win_amd64.whl
pip3 install torchvision
Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement torch>=1.1.0 (from torchvision) (from versions: 0.1.2, 0.1.2.post1, 0.1.2.post2)

I feel like I may of downgraded my gpu when I tried conda install fast ai
and then I tried pip and it couldnt find a file C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Packages\PythonSoftwareFoundation.Python.3.7_qbz5n2kfra8p0\LocalCache\local-packages\Python37\site-packages\caffe2\python\serialized_test\data\operator_test
I finally got to the point where it said successfully installed six, pillow, and torch but torch is at 0.3 which is incompatiable.

pip3 install torchvision
expected to install pytorch or fastai nothing seems to work
You may try installing the course by creating a conda environment provided anaconda is already installed in your windows machine.
conda update conda
conda create -n fastai_conda python=3.6
conda activate fastai_conda
conda install fastai pytorch=1.0.0 -c fastai -c pytorch -c conda-forge
Or for installing CPU version you can use the below commands after the environment is created
conda install -c pytorch pytorch-cpu torchvision
conda install -c fastai fastai
You can check if installation went right with this command
python -m fastai.utils.show_install
You may further need to install ipykernel to use the conda environment in your jupyter notebook.For that activate environment and run the following commands:
conda install nb_conda_kernels
python -m ipykernel install --user --name fastai_v1 --display-name "fastai v1"
conda install ipywidgets
I am following instructions from tensorflow website using virtualenv to install and having following issue when validating installation using import tensorflow as tf in python interactive shell.
Please note, I am running Python 3.7

I also tried to remove protobuf suggested by stackoverflow issue using pip uninstall protobuf, but doesn't help.
I was able to resolve above issue after some research. It looks like, tensorflow is not compatible with python 3.7 (as of July 30th 18) which is what I had installed on my computer .
Following github issue helped me resolved the issue.
I installed python 3.6.6 using pyenv and setup virtualenv. Here is what I did:
# Install python 3.3.6 and create virtualenv
$ pyenv install 3.6.6
$ pyenv virtualenv 3.6.6 tensorflow_image_recognition_3_6_6
$ pyenv activate tensorflow_image_recognition_3_6_6
# update pip
$ easy_install -U pip
#Install tensorflow
$ pip3 install --upgrade tensorflow
# Test if tensorflow is installed properly
# open python interactive shell
$ python
import tensorflow as tf
hello = tf.constant('Hello, TensorFlow!')
sess = tf.Session()
print(sess.run(hello))

My colleague asked my to install Anaconda and mayavi and I am novice with this topic and I decided to do the tasks on a new ubuntu installation
Here are my tasks before my issue
I fresh installed a Ubuntu 16.04
I ran all update apt-get update/upgrade
I created an user account (anna) and add it in sudo group
I loged into anna account
I downloaded Anaconda2-4.4.0-Linux-x86_64.sh for python 2.7
I installed with the command sudo bash Anaconda2-4.4.0-Linux-x86_64.sh
I installed anaconda in /opt/anaconda2 instead to the /home/anna/anaconda2 (for all user usage) and I say YES to have the line export PATH="/opt/anaconda2/bin:$PATH" in .bashrc file of anna
I run source /home/anna/.bashrc
After the anaconda installation, I could see a successful message regarding the installation
Now my colleague asked me to install mayavi and she provided me the following link mayavi
Then I simply enter the following command
conda install -c anaconda mayavi=4.5.0
And here start my problem. I can not well understand the conflict but apparently there is a conflict and I have no idea how to solve it. Here is the command and the message
anna#pc17:~$ conda install -c anaconda mayavi=4.5.0
Fetching package metadata ...........
Solving package specifications: .
UnsatisfiableError: The following specifications were found to be in conflict:
- mayavi 4.5.0* -> pyqt 4.* -> qt >=4.8.6,<5.0

- navigator-updater -> pyqt >=5.6 -> qt 5.6.*
Use "conda info <package>" to see the dependencies for each package.
I have no idea what does mean the above message and how to solve me problem.
Is there depencies that I have to additionally install?
For information the above command return me this:

Did I correctly try t install mayavi?

To complete the install of mayavi, you have to first install the following depence
conda install -c anaconda vtk=6.3.0
conda install -c anaconda pyside=1.2.1
Then install mayavi
conda install -c anaconda mayavi=4.5.0
It may possible, you have to remove pyqt
conda uninstall pyqt
We finally could install anaconda and mayavi sucessfully.

Install anaconda for python 2.7, then try the follows:
conda uninstall pyqt
conda uninstall navigator-updater
conda install pyqt=4
conda install vtk
conda install envisage

conda install mayavi
This question is for a Windows 10 laptop. I'm currently trying to install tensorflow, however, when I run:
pip install --ignore-installed --upgrade https://storage.googleapis.com/tensorflow/windows/cpu/tensorflow-1.0.0-cp35-cp35m-win_x86_64.whl
I get the following error:
tensorflow-1.0.0-cp35-cp35m-win_x86_64.whl is not a supported wheel on this platform.
I am trying to install the cpu-version only of tensorflow in an Anaconda 4.3.0 version. I had python 3.6.0 and then I downgraded to 3.5.0, none of them worked.
I also had same problem when I installed anaconda 4.3 version
Here is my solution.
Instead of using Anaconda3 4.3, install Anaconda3 4.2(Anaconda3-4.2.0-Windows-x86_64.exe)
Type on command line(If you are using GPU version)
pip install -U --ignore-installed --upgrade https://storage.googleapis.com/tensorflow/windows/gpu/tensorflow_gpu-1.0.0-cp35-cp35m-win_amd64.whl
Typeon command line(If you are using CPU only)
pip install -U --ignore-installed --upgrade https://storage.googleapis.com/tensorflow/windows/cpu/tensorflow-1.0.0-cp35-cp35m-win_amd64.whl
I'm working on win10 with python version=3.5.2, 64 bit
You can use same version of anaconda and execute this command
conda create -n tensorflow python=3.5
activate tensorflow
pip install tensorflow-gpu
It worked for conda 4.0.8
So are you sure you correctly downgraded your python? Run this command on command line pip -V. This should print the pip version and the python version.
Inside your Anaconda environment, try running this:
pip install --upgrade tensorflow
This will do the job. The issue was discussed here also.
Here is the screenshot of how this helped me:
If you have python3 on Windows insatalled, you can use the following command(non GPU):
pip install --upgrade https://storage.googleapis.com/tensorflow/mac/cpu/tensorflow-0.10.0-py3-none-any.whl
Worked for me.
