Filter Charts With Dates Oracle Apex - oracle

I am trying to add filters to my charts. How can I add a filter if my input is dates? For example I want to be able to filter to just the year of 2022 or I want to be able to look between the days of XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX
My input type is date but I only know how to filter by names at the moment using a command like this:
Paint_shop = :P9_Select_Shop

For years:
where extract(year from date_column) = 2022
For dates (as Apex items' datatype is char, presuming you set format model to dd.mm.yyyy):
where date_column between to_date(:P1_DATE_FROM, 'dd.mm.yyyy')
and to_date(:P1_DATE_TO , 'dd.mm.yyyy')

How to get future and past dates in mm/dd/yyyy and dd/mm/yyyy format in Oracle SQL 18C?

I want to get display of future and past dates in mm/dd/yyyy and dd/mm/yyyy format in Oracle SQL 18C using SQL functions, so I want the code for it. I tried code select sysdate from dual and I get the output 21-JAN-23, but I want output of future and past dates like 23/11/2033 and 16/12/2009 in mm/dd/yyyy and dd/mm/yyyy format.
Format date using TO_CHAR() function
SELECT
TO_CHAR( SYSDATE, 'FMMonth DD, YYYY' )
FROM
dual;
The output would be:
August 1, 2017
Creating a Future or Past Date
In Oracle, a DATE is a binary data type that ALWAYS consists of 7 bytes representing century, year-of-century, month, day, hour, minute and second and is NEVER stored in any particular human-readable format.
Therefore, if you want to get a DATE data type in a particular format then it is impossible as dates never have any format when they are stored.
If you want to get a date you can use:
A date literal:
SELECT DATE '2023-12-31' FROM DUAL;
or, the TO_DATE function:
SELECT TO_DATE('31/12/2023', 'MM/DD/YYYY') FROM DUAL;
Displaying Dates in a Client Application
However, if the problem is how to display a date in a particular format then you need to convert the binary DATE value to a string.
Most client applications (SQL*Plus, SQL Developer, TOAD, C#, Java, etc.) will implicitly convert a binary date to something that is human-readable when they display it and will have settings in the application that determine the default format that it applies to dates.
For SQL*Plus and SQL Developer, you can modify the NLS_DATE_FORMAT session parameter to change how that client application displays dates (note: this does not change how Oracle stores the dates internally, only how it is displayed by the client).
For example:
ALTER SESSION SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT = 'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS';
or:
ALTER SESSION SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT = 'MM/DD/YYYY';
And then the client application will display dates in that format when you use a SELECT statement.
For other client applications you will need to check the documentation for that application.
Explicitly Formatting Dates as Strings
If you want to display a DATE in a particular format independent of any settings in the client application then you will need to convert the date to a string.
Using TO_CHAR:
SELECT TO_CHAR(DATE '2023-12-31', 'MM/DD/YYYY') AS formatted_date FROM DUAL;
Or, if you are generating the date and formatting it (rather than taking an existing date and formatting it) then you could just use a string literal:
SELECT '31/12/2023' AS formatted_date FROM DUAL;

Datedim function not returning yesterdays date webi

My Datedim function is not returning yesterdays date in webi, any ideas on how to show 13/04/2022, even if it has null values?

If you have gaps in your date data the simplest way to fill them in is to create a variable with the TimeDim() function. However, that will not work for you since you do not have a true gap because your missing date is at the end.
You need a data source with all the dates you want to display regardless of if you have data for those dates or not and then merge on your date dimension. I answered a question very similar to this here. I am copying my answer from there below...
The TimeDim() function will fill in the empty periods in your time
data. The problem with that though is if it is the end of your date
range that is missing data those dates will not show up. Let me show
you what I mean. Here is my sample data from 12/01/2021 through
12/26/2021 (note missing dates) in the table on the left. The table on
the right is the my Var Data Date TimeDim variable defined as…
=TimeDim([Data Date]; DayPeriod)
So we have our missing dates in the middle, but not at the end
(12/25/2021 and 12/26/2021). To get those dates you need a query to
return all the dates in your specified range. If you have a universe
based on a
calendar
you could use that. Free-hand SQL based on a calendar table would
suffice as well.
If you have neither of those we can still get it to work using
free-hand SQL with a CTE. This is SQL Server syntax. You will have to
modify this SQL to work for whatever database platform you have if it
isn’t SQL Server.

Here is a
demo.
Now that you have a query returning all of the dates in your range
you can merge the date from that query to your Data Date.
You can then put the date object with all of dates or the Merged Date
in table with any measures from your pre-existing query and there you
have it.
If you need to add dimensions from you pre-existing query I think you
will need to create variables for them with Qualification set to
“Detail” and the Associated dimension set to “Merged Date” (or
whatever you called it). And if you do that I believe you will also
need to check “Avoid duplicate row aggregation” check box within the
Format Table properties.

Oracle- save dates with correct centuryinfo

I am trying to insert nvarchar2 values into my oracle Date field. When my source nvarchar2 value is '20701130', I want to save it as '30/11/2070' in my oracle column. And, if the source value is '21150529', I want to save it as '29/05/2115'.
I tried different formatting options to achieve this, but the year is always getting saved as two digits and is not indicating the correct century.
One of my Queries:
INSERT INTO MY_TABLE (MY_DATE_FIELD)
VALUES(TO_DATE('21061030', 'RRRR-MM-DD'));
Now, when I select after the above query, I get the result as 30/10/06 which is not we want, it should be '30/10/2106'.
You can go about it in many ways:
You alter the session date format itself to a format you want to achieve like :
ALTER SESSION SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT = 'RRRR-MM-DD';
Another approach is once you have achieved a date from a string passed using to_date then you can again add to_char to display the date in a format you want.
To_date will convert your string to a date using the format you have provided but while selecting it will still display the date as per the format provided in the session that's why we use To_char to change it to a format we want to display it into.
select to_char(TO_DATE('21061030', 'RRRR-MM-DD'),'RRRR-MM-DD') "DATE" from dual;

Oracle Date Format Conversion Issue

Am at the end of my tether so hoping someone can help me! I'm really new to Oracle, but do have a SQL background which is why I'm finding this so frustrating!
We have a system that runs Oracle at the back end. I've got very limited access to the system and can only write select queries.
I've written a query that gets the data I want but the date format is coming out as mm dd yyyy what I need is dd/mm/yyyy
I ran SELECT sysdate FROM dual and that come back as:
SYSDATE
03 11 2015
So my select statement reads (action_date is the column in question)
Select username, action_date from adminview
I've tried everything I can think of to change the date format including:
to_date(action_date,'dd/mm/yyyy')
to_date(action_date,'dd/mm/yyyy','nls_language=English')
to_date(to_date(action_date,'mm dd yyyy'),'dd/mm/yyyy')
I've also tried to_char along the same lines.
If you want to format a DATE value, use TO_CHAR():
SELECT username, TO_CHAR(action_date, 'DD/MM/YYYY') AS action_date
FROM adminview;
If it's not a DATE value, then you'll want to convert it to a DATE (based on what it currently looks like), then use TO_CHAR() to format.

Oracle Is there a way to update date and not month, year

Is there a way to update the date part of a column of type Date. For example, a row in the DB has value 2013-11-22 [stored in YYYY-MM-DD format]. And I want to update it to 2013-11-01.
If it had been one or few rows I could have done a simple update. But the real problem is that there are about hundred thousand rows with different date values. And I want to update all the dates to the 1st of each month. For example
Actual What I would like it to be
2013-01-22 2013-01-01
1989-10-03 1989-10-01
2004-07-01 2004-07-01
2005-12-31 2005-12-01
Would appreciate any help, how can i get this done through SQL. Thanks in Advance.
