IIS 5.1 going idle at 1-1.5 weeks - windows

I have a bit of an issue regarding a setup I have to work with. The PCU has Windows XP Embedded running on it, with IIS 5.1. I made an application with IIS as its webhost. There's a touchscreen monitor attached that is always on. Now everything runs fine, no problems, untill about 1-1.5 weeks pass by. At that point IIS, not sure about this, seems to be going on some kind of idle mode, the application stops doing what its supposed to do. But, to me, the weird part is that IIS seems to boot up again once I tap the screen and after that it runs fine again for 1-1.5 weeks. The problem is that I don't really have a clue to where to start searching, I've taken my application apart and looked for any memory leaks or anything that would be causing any issues but it doesn't seem that way. Any suggestions to what to look into would be greatly appreciated!

VB6 App on VM Runs Over RMM Utility But Crashes Over RDP

Alright StackOverflowians, this is a strange one, so bear with me and be kind. Also, this may be more of a question for ServerFault, but I'm hoping other developers out there may have seen this behavior and / or have some insight.
I have a VB6 application (custom built but the source code is long gone) which is running on a Windows Server 2012 R2 VM. When I connect to the VM using an RMM utility (ConnectWise) I can run the application as expected and everything is happy and good. However, when I connect to the VM over traditional RDP, the application crashes on startup and cites the error as COMCTL32.DLL, Exception Code: c0000005. I login as the same user in both scenarios.
I believe that this did work over RDP once-upon-a-time, but it's been probably 6 - 8 years since I've done this.
I've been finding information about the exception code listed above as an "Access Violation" and have followed some steps to disable Data Execution Prevention, but this had no effect. If I wasn't seeing this with my own eyes, I would not believe it is happening. Would welcome any tips or information, especially if you've seen similar behavior before.

Troubleshooting MAMP Continually Not Responding

I have a MAMP setup which hosts a number of local servers. It seems capable of running them just fine but it seems almost daily the app itself is marked as not responding by the OS (macOS 10.15.2) and as such refuses to close the app at the end of the day. This becomes quite irritating as it happens constantly. I imagine I've changed something, perhaps related to RAM so it thinks it can use more than it can. Searching for "MAMP Not Responding" on google doesn't exactly show what I'm looking for though.
Any help diagnosing MAMP itself rather than the servers freezing up?
This seems to help me out.
Quit MAMP if open
Navigate to /MAMP/tmp/mysql
Rename mysql.sock.lock
Restart MAMP
I got this from MrSandman98765 answer here https://stackoverflow.com/a/61063332/2314252
I’ve partially fixed it tweaking MySQL settings File > Edit templates > MySQL (my.cfn) > 5.7.26
In my case, having 64 GB of Ram, I’ve heavily increased everything related to Ram and buffer size.
I saw “partially” because sometimes, working on large Magento sites I get again the issue. I think it could be better investigated with MySQL tuning tools.

Windows 10 looses internet connection after 90 minutes

I have a problem with Windows 10 and I am kinda clueless on why and how I should fix it.
I have a work laptop that was upgraded to windows 10 last month. Ever since I got it I have been having problems with my Internet connection. About every one or 2 hours I stop being able to access the internet. I try and run the Windows diagnostic tool but there are of no help. Only restarting the computer helps, which is a major pain.
I have installed Wireshark to monitor my connections but unfortunately I am not really savvy with it. I can however see that there are quite a few broadcasts being made (they make 90% of all connections being made) but I cannot see from where they come.
I have tried disabling all energy saving options, updating the drivers for the network adapter, reinstalling the antivirus and even a hardware test. Nothing helped. My next step would be to reinstall Windows but I only want to do that as a last resort.
Any ideas what I could do next?
So, I actually fixed my problem. I didn´t really figure out exactly why it happened but I found a work around.
In Windows 10, I opened the Event log to see if there was an error being logged. Thankfully I have been documenting when I lost connection so this was easy to find. I saw that everytime I lost connection, Event 4231 was being logged. I googled the Id and found a solution on this website.
I followed the instructions there and had no more problems ever since.

Why won't neo4j CE 3.0.3 start a second time on Windows 7?

This is incredibly strange to me. Neo4j won't start a second time unless I restart Windows.
I installed neo4j Community Edition 3.0.3 on 64-bit Windows 7 and followed this youtube tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Foj2tzq84DY. The tutorial was embedded in neo4j's site https://neo4j.com/download-thanks/?edition=community&flavour=winstall64&release=3.0.3&_ga=1.203356307.385208157.1468345542. Even thought the video lists 2.3 it's linked by Neo4j 3.0.3 download and worked fine for 3.0.3.
Everything worked like a charm. I played around with it for a while and things worked fine. I then shut it down, by clicking on stop in the little gui launcher. When I tried to start it up again, through the start menu, nothing seems to happen at all. I went into the Neo4j CE 3.0.3\bin directory and tried running from there, but I see no error messages, no log directory, no error dialog. I just seems to do nothing. I've also tried "neo4j-ce.exe start" and "neo4j-ce.exe restart". Nothing seems to work.
I checked windows services and didn't see any services starting with neo4j. Don't know if default setup runs it as a service, but if so, maybe it's under something else?
I have been able to get things to start up if I restart Windows, but that's a royal pain and cannot imagine that's intentional.
I do see that there's a jar in the bin directory, so I imagine I could start it with a java command, but I don't know the specifics. However, it's most disconcerting that there is no error message at all. I imagine that something didn't shut down properly, but at this point I have no idea what might be going wrong.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I don't know if this is a bug with the launcher for the community edition of neo4j on windows 7 or not, but what I've found is that when you close the launcher dialog, it does not kill the neo4j-ce process. Thus, since the process is already running, albeit in a stopped state, it won't start again. The challenge there is, of course, that the dialog is gone and you can't click the start button to essentially connect to a database.
The solution is to go into Task Manager and end the "neo4j-ce.exe" process.
Once that is done you can start Neo4j normally.

Repeating loss of session variables occurring with web application after moving to new server

I have an old web application which formerly ran on a windows 2003 server. When I moved it to a new Windows 2008 server, I started receiving an error that I never had before. The app uses a windows login. Upon accessing the app, the user is asked for their login. After that, they are free to use to application. However, the issue is that after using it for some time, the user will be booted out and asked to login again. The system is also much slower than it was previously. It is operating on IIS7. It seems to me that there is a loss of session variables occurring, but I am unsure about why that would be the case.
Interestingly, when the user logs in again, they can generally use the application for a longer period of time before being booted out and asked to log in again. It is also worth mentioning that it seems like the more users there are on the server, the less prominent the issue is.
It is also worth mentioning that I tried moving the application to another 2008 server, and it worked perfectly fine on that one. This leads me to believe that the issue lies somewhere in the settings on the server. I looked at the settings of the two 2008 servers side-by-side and noted the differences, but was incapable of finding a difference that would cause this sort of error. One difference that might be worth noting is that the server which does not work properly is 32 bit, whereas the server which does works is 64 bit. Although, I don't see how that difference could lead to the application having a loss of session variables, but still working otherwise.
Additional information:
The code in the application on each server is identical, so that leads me to believe that the error is on the server level and not within the application itself.
Given that the code is identical, I do not believe this to be a result of Session.Abandon() being called from anywhere.
I do not believe this is due to a session timeout.
I have read that other people experience a loss of session variables due to app pool recycling, and that often the app pool recycling is from the config files being accessed (whether it be from a user or from something like an anti-virus software). I have no reason to believe that this is the case here, because all servers are under the same anti-virus and the application works fine on them.
On the server which works, the IIS authentication setting are set such that windows authentication is disabled and that anonymous authentication is enabled. Whereas, on the other server, the opposite is true.
Any help with this issue would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Make sure your app pool is running under 4.0 .Net Framework and also check your application pool identity. When your using 7.0 iis, make sure you use integrated mode.
