Can I get the Visual Studio 2008 report designer to look like the Visual Studio 2005 report designer - visual-studio

I liked the grid points and the visible separation of the header/body/footer of the report on the design surface or vs2005.
I hate the vs2008 report designer which is just a blank canvas with no grid lines/points and separation of header/body/footer...

Grid lines are gone from VS 2008. The alignment indicators seem to have "replaced" the functionality.

I use VS2008 and the report designer shows the grid points and the visible separation of the Header/Body/Footer.
Have you tried adjusting the report properties from the report menu? Make sure 'Draw Grid' is checked and that the grid spacing is 0.25cm. That's how mine is set up (by default).

"Draw Grid" isn't in the Report>Report Properties menu in VS 2008. It is in VS 2005 though.
I also can't display the grid in report desgner in VS 2008 - I've tried every combination of settings/ restarting the app to no avail. I'd also like the ruler to appear by default whenever I open a form but can't seem to find a setting for that either.

where are visual studio 2017 dialog editor tools and controls?

I'm a complete newbie to Visual Studio 2017 and now need to update a old windows application. I down loaded VS 2017 community, found my .RC files and used it to open one of my dialog designs. It displays correctly but my problem is how do I get the VS to display the tools such as grid lines, alignment tools, etc? And how do I display the menu of the various controls (boxes and items) that one can add to the dialog design?
Those are in the toolbox pane/sidebar/thingie on the side. If you don't see it, go to the View menu and select "Toolbox" to turn it on.

How to remove extra column in SSDT designer

I am using SSDT in Visual studio 2017 community. I am having an extra column in my designer. Anyone knows what's it and how to remove it?
This is the new area for laying out your parameters.
You can change the size of the parameters pane by dragging the dividing line between that and the main design area.
But if you want to get rid of it, you can go to the Report menu in the Visual Studio menu bar, choose 'View' and then deselect 'Parameters'.

SSRS Visual Studio Grid in Designer

Everytime I work on an SSRS report in visual studio I have this grid that appears in design mode, on top of the report itself...
Does anyone know how I can remove this from my view? I know I can click and scroll to reduce the size, but I would like to remove it entirely.
Thanks.
While in design mode:
Menu: Report > View > Parameters (toggle)

Visual Studio HTML Designer Split Views Vertically

I have a problem with the Visual Studio IDE where in my Tools >> Options >> HTML Designer, the Split Views Vertically is unchecked, yet the IDE decides to still keep the aspx page and source code split vertically. Anyone know how I can fix this? Must be a registry key somewhere that I can delete.
I've tried resetting the Window Layout by going to Window >> Reset Window Layout, and also trying Tools >> Import/Export Settings >> Reset All Settings.
The current settings is NOT checked, which means the windows should split horizontally (the default settings). This problem exists and occurred the same way for my Visual Studio 2010 installation, and now exists for my Visual Studio 2012 installation. Both IDE settings are not set to vertically split, but yet still split vertically.
I hope this isn't too confusing. Any ideas?

Possible to resize activity blocks in Visual Studio 2010 Workflow designer?

I'm trying to edit my TFS 2010 build templates using the Visual Studio 2010 Workflow designer. I have this nice widescreen display, and the designer insists on displaying the activity blocks in itty bitty areas. How can I resize them so I can at least read the entire display descriptions?
EDIT: If this annoys you too, vote for this suggestion
The designer doesn't support resizing activities. You can collapse/expand them or zoom into the entire workflow but that is it.
Would be a nice future feature so I suggest adding it to connect as a feature request and if you post the link I will vote for it.
