Magento backend problem - magento

I've just installed Magento on my website, but I can't access the backend. The frontend works fine, but in the backend once I successfully login, it takes me to a blank screen. I've read there's an issue with cookies and I've tried a range of commenting out lines in varien.php, but didn't work.

Go to /var/log/exception.log and check for any errors.
Alternatively in index.php just before the last line:
Mage::run($mageRunCode, $mageRunType);
put this
Mage::setIsDeveloperMode(true);
ini_set('display_errors', 1);
It should throw some sort of error now, and go from there.

Blank screen is almost always a PHP error of some kind (as opposed to a Magento Exception). Check/turn-on your PHP error logs and you should find the error you're looking for.

For the cookies issue, install and access Magento using htp://127.0.0.1/magento/ instead of htp://localhost/magento/

Please clear var/cache/ folder and var/session/ folder and refresh .

Magento 404 error page frontend

I noticed that Magento throw back a 404 error when trying to access the website from other locations. This only happenes on frontend. Backend can be accessible from all over the world. I don't know what's wrong.
I can access the website just normally without any problems! I can access the website even at home without no issues!
The Website is: borika.de
No restrictions have been noticed. Does anyone have an idea how to solve this issue?
Thanks
Please check could you make a condition of your index.php or try to replace with another same version index.php may be it will help
I recently deactivated other languages. This was the problem! This is the only solution that worked for me: Magento returns 404 error on all browsers except Firefox.

Magento /admin panel doesn't work

After I copied my magento installation on a new domain. The admin panel doesn't work. I checked the .htaccess, baseurls and tried a lot of other things, still the 404 error page.
The version of my installion is 1.9.
Please follow the following step.
delete cache folder from var
if you domain name changed then open your database and select core_config_data and set secure and insecure web url to your domain specific url
if you have still further problem for css and js and you have to make merge css and js flag to 0 which is also found in core_config_data
Thanks,
Sam
I hope sagar helped you to get rid of the problem.
to my opinion this issue happens due to improper setup of the core stores in magento.
what I did to resolve the issue to check the core_store tables. Check if store admin is active.
Make it active and your 404 problem will go away.
Thanks me later !!!

Lesti's FPC not working with Fishpig get post collection

I've developed a magento website with the fishpig extension, and as soon as I turned on my Lesti's FPC, i got a white page without any errors on the homepage.
I've managed to trace the error down to the post collection, but I don't know how to fix this issue. Someone had any experience with this?
This is what my post collection looks like:
<?php $posts = Mage::getResourceModel('wordpress/post_collection')
->addPostTypeFilter('sliders')
->load();
?>
I'm pretty sure this error has nothing to do with Lesti FPC. If you have a white page without any errors, this just means that an error has occured but your PHP error display settings prevent it from being displayed. To display the error, open up your Magento index.php file and uncomment the following line:
ini_set('display_errors', 1);
This will reveal the PHP error message. That being said, your issue will probably be fixed by performing the following steps:
Upgrade Magento WordPress Integration to the latest version. Also update any add-on extensions for Magento WordPress Integration.
Check System > Configuration > WordPress for any errors/warnings and fix every single one.
Check var/log/ for a wordpress.log file. Delete this file and then go back to the page that triggers the error. See whether any new errors are added to the file.
Please perform these 3 steps (these steps should be followed for any error with Magento WordPress Integration) and see whether the error persists. If the error does remain after following these steps, please update your question with the specific error message (but only after following these 3 steps).

Codeigniter based website on Mochahost displaying blank pages

Hi i'm a bit new at uploading a website to a webserver and i've encountered a problem.
my site is using codeigniter and my host is MochaHost.
First of all I already successfully uploaded the site i made it run twice,
but on my last upload of updated files the power went out and the upload stopped half-way through. And when the power was back I reuploaded the updated files.
Now, the problem is that when ever i try to open my site it only displays a blank page. I've tried to view specific page but it still displays a blank page. Here's the site: http://www.sph-mis.com/ .. displaying only blank pages
I read somewhere that the problem might be the directory in were i put the files, and i put it on the public_html directory
http://imgur.com/EDM6Nka
The 1st and 2nd try i did worked with the same directory but now its doesnt work.
now it just displayig blank sapce;
Can anyone help me with this?
FIXED
check the reply i made below
So really the question is how to I debug a blank page in CodeIgniter. I don't know if there are some php errors waiting to be found behind that white screen of death but its your first step to figuring it out. So here goes some ways to get some errors you can actually work with.
in your .htaccess file where index.php is located put this into it: (if none exists create it)
# display php errors
php_flag display_startup_errors on
php_flag display_errors on
php_flag html_errors on
if you get a 500 error your host may be using suPHP and you cant do it this way.
another thing to do is try this
for ci older then 2.x modify the error_reporting function in index.php to use E_ALL
error_reporting(E_ALL);
for ci newer then 2.x instead set ENVIRONMENT in index.php as:
define('ENVIRONMENT', 'development');
this sets the error_reporting to E_ALL.
You can also set in application/config/config.php
$config['log_threshold'] = 4;//or 1 for error messages only
then check for a log file in the application/logs/ directory (make sure its writable)
Also make sure your db settings are correct. CI may suppress a database connection error.
Lets see if that gets you any further.
I already fixed it, what i did was got a clean copy of codeigniter and replace the application folder and added my assets folder to it and then uploaded it.. and it worked. Something must have been wrong within my old system folder.

magento custom module showing blank page

I have developed a custom magento module for admin section that is working fine on my development server. When I tried to install this module on other server then it is not working properly, when I clicked on module form menu option it is showing blank page. However,
enable/disable option in the advanced configuration is visible.
There are no error getting displayed. How should I debug it? where could be possible bug?
Please help!
Thanks,
You cant find bugs at your server error log file (ex: /var/log/apache2/error.log).
find in you magento index.php this code
if (isset($_SERVER['MAGE_IS_DEVELOPER_MODE'])) {
Mage::setIsDeveloperMode(true);
}
#ini_set('display_errors', 1);
and change it to
#if (isset($_SERVER['MAGE_IS_DEVELOPER_MODE'])) {
Mage::setIsDeveloperMode(true);
#}
ini_set('display_errors', 1);
Good luck.
A blank page generally means a fatal error. You need to either check your web server error log or PHP error log depending on your setup.
