Running Umbraco source code in Windows 7 only produces login screen - visual-studio-2010

I am trying to get started in development of my website and plugins using Umbraco. When I download the binaries from Codeplex, the installation and running of the website works fine. When I downloaded the source code, All I get is a login screen even when the web.config files are the same. Am I doing something wrong or is there something I missed.
The path I use to map IIS to is
branches\4.1.0\umbraco\presentation

You need to compile the source code to get it to work.
To be honest, you shouldn't need the full source unless you really want to start hacking around in the core (which may cause you problems with future updates) or you want to see how stuff works. The Umbraco framework is pretty extensible, I've not found too much so far that I couldn't do without having to touch the core source.

I had a similar issue when running the source and that was that the hashing of the admin password did not work. So i debugged it to see what value was expected and then changed it in the database.

How do I build Flutter application locally?

I have developed (on a Mac) a small Flutter app to learn the technology. Now, I would like to build it and use it on Mac, Linux and Android. The few packages I have used claim compatibility with all systems.
So the first thing I did was to run flutter build macos. I indeed obtain an application under build/macos/Build/Products/Release/nameofmyapp.app. It seems this runs correctly, but it fails, for instance, loading data from a DB, which is the first thing it should do.
I have a few questions:
are there any other steps that I should take? I see a long guide about the release process, but to be frank I don't need or want any of that: I only want to use the app myself. Is there something else to do other than flutter build macos?
am I looking for the built app in the right place?
if I did everything correctly, could it be that I need to authorize the app to access to the file in some way? Should I manage this workflow myself, or is there a standard way to perform this action in Flutter?
Sorry for asking more than one question, but I am not sure whether what I am doing wrong is
the build process
where to look for the built app, or
(not) handling the app permissions.
EDIT
Following a suggestion by Madhavam, I tried flutter run --release. The result is identical to running the built application: nothing is loaded from the database, and no errors appear in the console.
To be clear, these are the libraries that are not working:
sqflite should load data from a database (in my Documents folder) but does not show anything
file picker cross should allow me to load data from a JSON file, but when I try this interaction, I an not shown any dialog to load a file
shared preferences should read some settings, but they all appear as null
In short, anything that has to do with interacting with external files or storage does not seem to work
Yup, you have to manage it yourself. Take a look at this package
:https://pub.dev/packages/permission_handler
If you're using Firebase then you probably need to add the release keys.
One thing too, if you face an error only in the release build then I recommend running the app with flutter run --release so that you can see the errors that are being thrown.
So it seems that this is related to the default being an app that runs in sandbox. Since I do not want to distribute the app, it was fine for me to disable this setting. Details are in this answer

Visual studio complains about spatial types

I have these CLR types installed on my local https://puu.sh/yEWG5/b4f77fba7b.png
Also, I have SQL server 2016 installed on my local system but when I try to run the project I get error as below
https://puu.sh/yEWQm/78a4220830.png
Can someone help? I tried installing latest nugget package from https://www.nuget.org/packages/Microsoft.SqlServer.Types/ but it did not help.
Though I am able to add a column of type geography in a table in my local database. It fails at runtime when I run my project and error comes as below
https://puu.sh/yEWQm/78a4220830.png
According to the docs if you have installed the CLR Types it should load from the GAC so I'm not sure why that didn't work for you. (I would check that you have the correct version as your dependency)
However, we do use the SQLServerTypes in our app without installing the CLR types by using the following method (this method is described in the readme.htm that comes with SqlServerTypes).
Grab the SqlServerTypes.nupkg and extract it to a folder lets call this folder SST from now on.
(Locations of the files I talk about in the following steps may differ from version to version but, the principle is the same)
Create a SqlServerTypes folder in your project
Copy the SST/nativebinaries/x86 and x64 folders into your new SqlServerTypes folder
Also copy the files from SST/content (you should see Loader.cs and readme.htm) into the SqlServerTypes folder.
Now all you need to do is call the Loader when your app boots up.
We do this during our autofac setup by making this call.
Utilities.LoadNativeAssemblies(AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory)
You may need to adjust the param passed into this method to work with your application. If the correct path is used you should have access to the spatial types in your code.
edit: It may be possible to just call the LoadNativeAssemblies straight away (and avoid all the work I posted above) if you have installed the nuget package in your app but, I have not tested this as we are stuck on an old version of SqlServerTypes.
Because i cannot put a comment i have to put a answer, you can check that, that article and this, this, this and this answers, i hope they guide you to someting usefull.

Red5 demos don't work

I just installed red5 on my server, and the install seems to work fine. As you can see here: http://onelifemedia.com:5080
I got this far by using this walkthrough: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1046590
The /demos page gives me a 404 error. So I logged onto the server, and checked to see if the "demo" directory was already there. It was not.
The applications that I installed were a directory up from the root directory. I'm not sure if this is right or not.
Either way, my end goal is to actually get something working besides the main page. If I can get the demos to work, then hopefully I should be well on my way.
I guess my questions can be broken down like this:
Does anyone know how to get the demos working?
Should I forget about the demos, and try to start writing my own code?
If I should write my own code, how should I go about installing it? Since the installer is not properly installing the demos.
Thanks
The tutorial is good but you dont need the admin app. Use the installer link in the tutorial and install the demo you want to use. The content of the "demos" directory is only the swf files used to access the server demos which you use the installer app to install. For instance , select "oflaDemo" and then from the main page navigate to demos/oflaDemo et voila.
I know I'm biased being a core developer, but we've attempted to make the server as ez as possible to use.
I could install demos from the latest svn trunk, Checkout the source, use ant&ivy to build and run the server and you can install two sample apps(oflaDemo and SOSample).
You may need to use ivy commands resolve some of the common issues during installations.
E:\dev\red5\java\server\trunk>ant ivyclear dist
()Red5 user mailing list may help you, because this is not exactly problem with Red5 source.
I could resolve the issue based on the information in Red5 users mailing list and comments by Mr.Mondain in one of the posts in Stackoverflow

Do Magento CE extensions work in PE?

Do Magneto CE extensions work in PE? The extensions I've tried installing in PE aren't working (they install but yield blank screens) and I can't find a straight answer; don't know if it's a problem on my end or if it's built in to Magento. Thanks in advance!!
Short answer is yes. CE modules can function correctly as part of PE, but it will depend greatly on what parts of the functionality it touches.
Things to do for any Magento issues like this:
Ensure the extension is enabled (check to ensure it's output is enabled and it's active) - see this post for reference (the post is how to turn off an extension, but it will point you in the right direction)
Refresh your cache
Ensure logging is on and check your logs for errors
Check your web server logs - where these are will depend on which web server you are running. Apache logs are generally in the error.log file under /var/logs/apache2 or /var/log/httpd
If all else fails, start debugging, by putting Mage::log() entries into the code and seeing what is logged and what isn't
Any extension could possibly work in any version, even if it isn't listed as such. Generally developers of extensions just list the versions that it has been tested in, but that doesn't mean it cant be used in others.
Best way to find out is install the module in your dev environment, and test to make sure it isn't overwriting/breaking any of the existing functionality.

IIS Express fails to serve cshtml files

I've just started checking out WebMatrix, and am running into a problem. I performed a fresh install of WebMatrix, then started a tutorial which involves creating one small cshtml file. Whenever I try to run the site, I get the following error:
This type of page is not served.
Description: The type of page you have requested is not served because it has been explicitly forbidden. The extension '.cshtml' may be incorrect. Please review the URL below and make sure that it is spelled correctly.
Requested URL: /Home.cshtml
In the IIS Express Requests section, the page request shows the following error:
404.17 Dynamic Content Mapped to Static Handler
Details: The requested matched a wildcard mime map and was matched to the static filder (What's up with all the typos MS?) handler. However, if the pre-conditions were different, the request would map to a different handler. This can mean that the pre-conditions are incorrect.
I tried reinstalling to no avail. Does anybody have any ideas?
I am running Windows 7 Pro, with IIS 7 installed. (IIS Express is supposed to be able to run side-by-side no problemo)
Thanks much!
It was set to 4.0 -- Uninstalling and reinstalling ASP.NET Web Pages did the trick.
It seems you selected 2.0 .NET framework in Settings section (in WebMatrix). Change it to '.NET 4 (Integrated)'.
Same boat - just toying with it and its "integrated workflow" with VS2010..but alas, it's not as "clean" as one would hope (or maybe just needs more manual tweaking of knobs and switches).
But try this (instead of, or before giving up all hope and re-installing): run Webmatrix in Administrator mode (right click -> runas).
Your solution is something I had to do on the server side though (IIS6/w2k3)....via web platform installer. While it seems odd to install Webmatrix server side, I just gave up and did it anyway to ensure all the dependencies are installed along with it (didn't want to spend or rather waste any more time figuring it out).
Worked for me....after looking glassy eyed with that "but it was working fine yesterday" look. So I hope this saves you (and anyone else) some time and frustration.
