Yes, it is possible.
I have done this with VS 2003, 2005, 2008 and am certain 2010 also has this feature.
Attaching to a remote process is only available to the Pro editions and above.

I'm trying to set up some new developers to make apps for the Okuma control using the Okuma API and SDK. What environment should they use? I tried installing Visual Studio Express 2012 but it keeps giving an error looking for files during install. Also, what language should they use so they can work with the Okuma API?
The Okuma API is written using .NET 4.0 so you really have several options.
Normally I'd say Visual Studio express 2012 for desktop is best but I've seen problems putting it on Windows XP.
If you're using windows XP and aren't ready to invest in a full version of Visual Studio yet, I'd recommend Visual C# Express 2010. If you're more familiar with VB and don't want to switch, do the VB express verison.

VS 2019 community edition is currently working fine for me doing this. I just have to choose which .net framework in the project settings. That was not listed in the prior answer in case anyone comes across this in the future.
I have Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition.
In that edition i have access to Microsoft.Reporting and additional i have some report design tools integrated with VS IDE.
How to get that tools and class, if im now using Visual Studio 2012 Express?
I need this for Windows Forms applications, not for Web.

I've been using the trial edition of Visual Studio 2008 Team System to develop projects and work with my client's Team Foundation Server. I am using the Team Explorer integration / source control plugin.
My trial is expiring and I'm having trouble finding information on what exactly I need to purchase. I don't need to actually run a TFS server myself, but I do need the ability to connect to my clients and get/put files, and the integration with Team Explorer in VS is really nice, hence I'd rather not have to use an external 3rd party tool.
Do I need Team System to accomplish this or does Visual Studio 2008 Professional have the same TFS Plugin, and if so does it work the same?
I can't believe I'm having such a hard time finding the differences between the versions... if anyone has a good resource that'd be nice before I shell out $3,000 on something I don't need. I develop mainly ASP.NET Solutions if that matters. Thanks!

Whoever is running TFS should procure CALs (Client Access License) so that any client that works with this server is covered. I believe you buy them separately per client machine (somewhat around 400$ each). Also VS Team System editions have one or two CALs included. That may be or may not be worth it for you.
And yes, you can access TFS from VS 2008 Pro, just need to install the integration plugin.
I don't know if that is possible at all for you, but if you can, I would wait for Visual Studio 2010 (to be released in march 2010). Not only is it a better product than VS2008 but also they have simplified the versioning/licensing part, also Team Foundation Server 2010 Basic may be suitable for your source control needs.

has anyone seen this happen before? I need to do remote debugging but don't seem to have the option to use it. When I load Visual Studio 2008 and go into the Tools > Attach to Process menu, the only Transport that is listed (first dropdown) is "Default". That means that I can't switch to the "Remote (Native Only)" transport I would use to do remote debugging.
Am I missing some permissions? Does my version not support remote debugging? I've spent an hour searching Google for any reason why it might not appear......

- Microsoft .NET Framework Version 3.5 SP1

Remote debugging is only available on the Pro and Team version of Visual Studio 2008.

I think the title is very clear, but also i want to say why:
I already downloaded TFS 2010 and Team explorer 2010, but i'm still using VS2008 (with no short-time plans to change)
My question, can i use those toghether?
Also, my VS is just the professional version. I don't want to download the TE2008 because for my internet conection, it is just too big.

However, it will not integrate inside the VS2008 shell. If you want full source control integration you'll need to download TE2008 + SP1.
