I have an iPad application which has many categorized images I need to switch between.
I store the categories in a database, along with the image prefix and number of images for that category. Using a random number in the range of 0-to-image_count_for_category, I get an image name like this:
[image_prefix][random_number].png => "SomeCategory3.jpg"
The images themselves are included in the project file structure and are not stored in the database.
All the image swapping is going fine. The problem lies in some of the image usage... I used to have an image "SomeCategory3.jpg", which was in the application, and has been displayed. Now, I replace the image named SomeCategory3.jpg, and the old image shows up ... Um ... how is that possible?
I have tried removing the app from the device, cleaning the project, re-building, and re-copying to the device for debug. Still, the old image comes up in that random rotation.
My app never copy the images anywhere. I simply reference them using the app folder with the image name appended.
I have verified that the old images are not in the folder or referenced by the project. I have viewed all the images in xcode to ensure the image displays properly.
Yet somehow ... the old image gets used in my random image swapping rotation.
It's driving me mad trying to figure out how the old image is there.
Any ideas?

Xcode can't tell the image changed and did not overwrite the one in your app bundle's Resources folder. Right-click the image in your Xcode project and click "Touch" then rebuild. That or clean your target and rebuild.

There is no default file called Styles.xcassets in the iOS project. And I think this is a normal Asset Catalog Image Sets file created by someone.
In an iOS project, the is a default Asset Catalog Image Sets called Assets.xcassets file and manager your image there.
Also, instead of using the Assets.xcassets, you can create more ....xcassets to manager your images. It can be more clear and is easier to distinguish different kinds of images.
For example, if there is a Styles.xcassets, you can put all images of style into this file. You can also create a Home.xcassets there to put all images in the homePage there.
Hope you understand What's a Styles.xcassets file in the iOS project used for now.
I downloaded a binary via docker for the Gogs project (https://github.com/gogits/gogs), set it up (via docker pull gogs/gogs) and the server works as expected. Now I'm trying to customize the html a bit to look consistent with our company's other tools. When looking at deployed project, the assets of interest are in the following directories:
public/img/*.png
public/css/*.css
templates/*.tmpl
When I update the css, changes take effect right away, when I update tmpl, I need a container restart (implying that html is generated at server start time), when I update anything in public/img/ directory, however, I can't seem to get those assets used at all and I'm clueless about what's happening since most web servers/frameworks treat public/img/ as a static directory with all of its contents publicly visible by default.
Here is what I've tried so far and the outcomes:
Action: copied a new favicon image (my_favicon.png) into public/img/ and changed /templates/base/head.html to point to it (/img/my_favicon.png) instead of the original (/img/favicon.png), left original untouched and restarted the container.
Result: page loads with broken image icon, DOM inspector says that it's pointing to /img/my_favicon.png but doesn't show the image, going to that URL directly doesn't show the image either.
Action: change .tmpl back to point to original image (/img/favicon.png), overwrite original with the new image. I tried this with the main lg-gogs.png logo too.
Result: page loads with broken image icon just like before.
A grep search for image name revealed that only the .tmpl I modified and config.codekit are mentioning it (and I'm not at all familiar with CodeKit, but the instructions claim that it's only relevant for git, not me, and to leave the file alone, although it seems to profile names and sizes of all images - however I don't see anything else on the server reference this codekit file).
I have no idea why changes to css and tmpl work fine, but images cause this unexpected result. Does anyone have an idea of what's going on, why the server isn't accepting the images?
I am currently building a Windows Universal App and the learning curve is OK. I get a response from my webservice, parse the JSON, display info in the app, but my current issue is the following one:
I tried to display an image that I put in the Assets folder, but this doesn't seem to work.
This is my layout:
As you can see, the text "Test" is correctly displayed but not the images.
On the right side, in the explorer pannel, I cannot see the files that should be here:
WHAT I HAVE TRIED:
In my example, they are in the Assets/picto folder, but I have also tried the root directory Assets, as wal as creating Image folder at the same level.
I have definitely no idea how to add a simple picture, so any help is appreciated!
Adding items in Windows explorer to the right location doesn't add them to your solution / deployment.
You have to right-click the picto folder -> Add > -> Add existing item. Your items are not even in your solution, so they won't show up on the layout screen.
Make sure you set the correct build target for each image.
If an image shouldn't show up, even through it's in your solution, this is often the reason.
I am developing gallery viewer app. App will fetch the image file from Isolated Storage and will show in an image control. Most of the things are already setup and working fine.
Now images are stored in folders which act as album and user can delete the whole album. I tested with many many folders with assorted images and delete works fine. But I see that when there is a particular image file of name "XXXX.jpg", it doesn't get deleted. Although all the images from folder are shown in image control. That file doesn't gets deleted, and an exception is thrown "ArgumentUnhandledException". I tried after renaming the file but earth didn't move.
Also, for testing purposes I am transferring folders(with images in it) using "Windows Phone Device Manager". I know it is not official to use it, but it makes testing easy. Also peculiar thing is that "Windows Phone Device Manager" also cannot delete that particular file, although I dumped that file in app's isolated storage using "Windows Phone Device Manager". So I think that there is some problem with that file.
How can I delete the file. And if I cannot, how can I know it before hand that some files cannot be dealt with properly and should not be dumped in Isolated storage.Here is that file. File is inside zip file. I think file is required and not not just uploading image to a image hosting site. Please take a look. Also try not to look over the content of image file, that's only random file which is not working and I want to know why.
I found that file was marked read-only and was causing problem when a delete attempt was made. Removing read-only solves the problem.
I have almost 20 images in PNG format added to my current project on Xcode (under the proper group, Resources). Unfortunately, library window's Media tab doesn't show some of them. And if I create an UIImageView and set one of these invisible images from code, nothing shows up. I also tried from IB with adding a UIImageView and set its source image.
Is this problem a image format related issue or is there a tiny detail I'm missing.

The solution to this is a bit silly, but it definitely works:
Close XCode and the Interface Builder. Now, instead of opening XCode then opening the project, navigate to the project in Finder and double click on the project. When you open your xib file the blue file not found images will flash up, then be replaced with the correct images and the dropdown will show all your images in the Inspector.
Heyy! I figured it out. It's a refreshing bug. So just copy and replace those images that did not load into your project folder, and then hold Shift Command K (to clean your project). After Clean Up it should work perfectly! Enjoy!
If you dragged the images from the Finder into the Resources folder in XCode the images should show up in IB as well. At least it does so in my setup.
Maybe the images are 8-bit PNG images. I believe Cocoa requires them to be 24-bit because of the alpha transparency. PNG 8-bit doesn't support the alpha channel, as it's more like a GIF image.
But from the error you posted It seems IB couldn't find the resource at all. Which is understandable if it doesn't load the resources from XCode in its library.
Assuming you selected the option to let XCode copy the files into your project and neither XCode nor the Finder complain when you make the copy... I wonder if there might be some file corruption? Maybe try recreating them or opening and resaving them from another graphics application (or even Preview.app).
btw- 8-bit PNGs have worked fine for me.
Same problem was encountered by me. The problem is with the image. The image has been some how corrupted.Try to open the image in photoshop and you will see it doesn't open with photoshop.
I solved the problem by changing the image format to PNG-24 and everything works fine for me.
