Is there a Football (soccer) Manager Open Source in Ruby? - ruby

Does anybody knows of a open source football manager lib written in Ruby?
I am writing one would like to have some base to match against, any hints?

Quick search on GitHub revealed these:
champz - Championship management. Seems pretty active.
rojos_soccer - Team management. Rather old, last commit was near the beggining of 2009.
Solebury-Soccer - Practice log tracker, if I understood right. Looks pretty old too.
It seems champz's your best shot.

Where have SDL2 wiki examples gone?

In this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPHKWsZK2Jc&list=PLvv0ScY6vfd-p1gSnbQhY7vMe2rng0IL0&index=10) from about a year ago, there is example code on the SDL_CreateWindow function documentation page. I have seen other posts talking about the SDL examples.
If you look at the documentation now it is the same minus the example code

Am I blind or is there no longer any example code on the SDL2 wiki?
If not, does anybody know what the reasons for removing it are?

If they were removed from the official wiki they would at least be placed in a 'legacy' repo or something like that.
A Google (DuckDuckGo) search gives only third party examples and, aside from a few forum posts, no mention of there ever being any examples on the wiki.
In 2022, the Wiki migrated from MoinMoin to ghwikipp. With that came a host of breaks and bugs. Your issue specifically is covered under issue #233.
The images were also broken, but that issue shows a workaround for viewing the Wiki in working form: use archive.org on wiki.libsdl.org, not wiki.libsdl.org/SDL2 where it is currently hosted. This gives you your examples back.

If you have some sort of MediaWiki viewer program, you can also just pull an old revision from the Repo and read it offline. Even Github's MarkDown viewer isn't terrible. Caveat that new changes won't be reflected.
They promise us that it will be fixed at some point, and they do seem to be working hard on it. The only hardfix is either to (a) wait, or (b) help them finish their migration.

Mean.js, where do I start?

I have to make a web application with Meanstack for a school project. I have downloaded and installed the newest version of the Mean.js boilerplate (http://meanjs.org/) and got the sample site working. But I have no idea how to continue. There are so many files in the project directory. Can somebody please tell me the files I can/need to change to start building my own app?
I'm very new to programming, so sorry if this is a stupid question. I'd really appreciate an answer.
This is what the project folder looks like.
The meanjs.org documentation (here) has plenty of great information about what each file does, and what you might need to research to get started. Besides that there are a lot of great tutorials out there, one I liked in particular was this youtube series.
Please note that in these examples I am using the mean stack from meanjs.org, not mean.io, and I am using version 0.3. If you are using a different MEAN stack, or version, I would still recommend first looking through the official documentation, and then various tutorials online.

What do I need to know to create Xcode project templates?

I know some of the tutorials for creating Xcode project templates, for example this one here: http://robnapier.net/blog/project-templates-364
This is the best one I could find. All others basically repeat the same info, or are no longer up to date, or worse tell me that even they don't know what they're doing. Possibly useful tools that are linked to here and in other places are no longer available.
I keep running into roadblocks, and would like to gather as much information as possible on the process of creating Xcode project templates. Info that is most importantly up to date (at least it must be relevant for Xcode 3 or higher).
For example, what I'd like to see is:
a description of the
TemplateChooser.plist and similar
plist files and what these options do
(in my case, once I add a
TemplateChooser.plist, my project
disappears from the Xcode project
template list)
how to create a project template that references another .xcodeproj (when I do that, the other .xcodeproj appears in the project template list even though it doesn't use the special naming convention)
processes that can be applied, for example is it possible to run a script during the creating of a project from a template? This would be useful to unzip certain files into the newly created project.
If you have the answer or suggestions to any of the issues above, I'd appreciate that. Otherwise any link to good Xcode project template resources would be highly recommended. Especially if there is an official documentation from Apple - I haven't found one yet which seems to imply that project templates are undocumented.

There is indeed little XCode template info out there. What I have found of interest are the following links (I documented myself on the topic, but haven't yet gone any further):
a Google Code search reveals a few examples, but not much
in particular, I found interesting to look at the code provided by Three20; they have some basic examples, like here
referencing another project worked for me, so maybe you could open a specific question about that giving more details?
there is information scattered on the Apple mailing-lists
there is no official documentation from Apple, as is evidenced by the lack of results to this query
I'm sorry if this is not a Enlighting, concise answer. As you said, it's not well documented, and sources are all over the place. I just hope I could highlight some places to find information that your own searches might not have reached :)
I don't have a Mac anymore, so this is as much as I can give you without testing this myself. As far as I can tell, Xcode templates are undocumented by Apple.
This guy has some guides for messing with Xcode templates but the info is pretty sparse. My suggestion for working with templateChooser.plist is to try to only edit that file in the interface builder.
This guide is a good example of how to add a reference to another .xcodeproj. For the reason you were having trouble adding a reference to your project we probably need more information.
If you scroll way down in this doc you can that each template already includes a script called myscript.sh. This script will show up in the scripts menu for projects built with that template. That isn't quite as convenient as running scripts automatically, but it's better than nothing.
In conclusion, Xcode template documentation is a nightmare. It looks like there are a lot of powerful features there, but they are obscured because of lack of user friendlyness and because documentation lags far behind Apples updates of Xcode. It just doesn't seem to be a priority for them. I hope this helps.

Has anyone used Raven?

What do you think about this build tool? I'm thinking of migrating from maven2 to raven (my poms are getting bigger and bigger), but I'd like to hear some opinions first.

Thank's for writing but I was actually looking for real experiences using raven. Anyway, the fact that nobody wrote is an indicator by itself (it seems few people are using it)
I haven't used either Raven or Buildr, but I have heard good things about the latter. In this blog article by Assaf Arkin, there is a nice case study: a 5,443 line, 52 file Maven configuration was reduced to 485 lines of Buildr. And, even though everybody says "Ruby is slow", Buildr was 2-6x faster than Maven.
Also, unlike Raven, Buildr seems to still be maintained: it is currently in the incubator stage as an official Apache project.
pom growth is a problem that everybody faces w/ maven I guess, but maven is at least maintained (2.1. just around the corner) and the raven project looks pretty dead to me. No updates this year and the mailinglist archives are also very small. It looks to me as it's too risky to switch your build process to a tool w/o a living community. Not quite the answer you wanted I guess, but my 2 cents.

You should check out plain old rake, which lets you create very powerful tasks.
I've also heard about sake, which is just like rake tasks but system-wide, instead of being only available inside one of your projects.
They may not be specialized for Java, but they sure beat the hell out of plain old bash or (heaven forbid) batch scripts.

How do I integrate my continuous integration system with my bug tracking system?

I use cruisecontrol.rb for CI and FogBugz for bug tracking, but the more general the answers, the better.
First is the technical problem: is there an API for FogBugz? Are there good tutorials, or better yet, pre-written code?
Second is the procedural problem: what, exactly, should the CI put in the bug tracker when the build breaks? Perhaps:
Title: "#{last committer} broke the build!"
Body: "#{ error traces }"
I suppose this presupposes the answer to this question: should I even put CI breaks into my bug tracking?
At my company we've recently adopted the (commercial) Atlassian stack - including JIRA for issue tracking and Bamboo for builds. Much like the Microsoft world (I'm guessing - we're a Java shop), if you get all your products from a single vendor you get the bonus of tight integration.
For an example of how they've done interoperability, view their interoperability page.
Enough shilling. Generally speaking, I can summarize their general approach as:
Create issues in your bug tracker (ex: issue key of PROJ-123).
When you commit code, add "PROJ-123" to your commit comment to indicate what bug this code change fixes.
When your CI server checks out the code, scan the commit comments of the diffs. Record any strings matching the regex of your issue keys.
When the build completes, generate a report of what issue keys were found.
Specifically to your second problem:
Your CI doesn't doesn't have to put anything into your bug tracker. Bamboo doesn't put anything into JIRA. Instead, the Atlassian folks have provided a plugin to JIRA that will make a remote api call into Bamboo, asking the question "Bamboo, to what builds am I (a JIRA issue) related?". This is probably best explained with a screenshot.
All the CI setups I've worked with send an email (to a list), but if you did want—especially if your team uses FogBugz much as a todo system—you could just open a case in FogBugz 6. It has an API that lets you open cases. For that matter, you could just configure it to send the email to your FogBugz' email submission address, but the API might let you do more, like assign the case to the last committer.
Brian's answer suggests to me, if your CI finds a failure in a commit that had a case number, you might even just reopen the existing case. Like codifying a case field for every little thing, though, there's a point where the CI automation could be "too smart," get it wrong, and just be annoying. Opening a new case could be plenty.
And thanks: this makes me wonder if I should try integrating our Chimps setup with our FogBugz!
CC comes with a utility that warns you when builds fail, it probably isn't worth logging the failing build in FogBugz - you don't need to track issues that are immediately resolved (as most broken builds will be)
To go the other way round (FogBugz showing checkins that fixed the issue) you need a web based repository browser - FogBugz is easy to configure so that it shows the right changes.
