Detect user visibility for Yahoo - yahoo

How can I detect if a yahoo user is online or offline? I got connected to the yahoo server but I dont know what kind of packet to send to yahoo and then where in the received packet I can find the information about the user?
Thank you.

You may want to try using libyahoo2 (or reading the source), they also have partial YMSG9 protocol documentation which may be insightful.

For detecting user online offline status programatically, i dont have any idea. But I can suggest a way out, if you can do it programmatically.
We detect user by the chat environment in yahoo. If your partner is appearing offline, then from chat window we try to load environment. If environment gets loaded 100% on the other end then the user is in invisible mode else he is really offline.

Instagram user's contact e-mail?

Ruby on rails dev here.
This question has been asked before. Here, here and here.
The problem is that they did not make the right question or the solution given was somewhat shallow.
I ´ll be as specific as I can.
The Goal
I want get the user´s contact e-mail and not the account e-mail. Two different things. :)
Some users leave their email on the contact button. It´s public.
My goal is to make a software that can extract e-mails, but for now, only extracting one e-mail from one single account will be more than enough to have my MVP going.
here is an example below on how instagram let users share their e-mail.
The Problem
It only shows in app :( If it were to be shown on the browser as well, it would be a walk in the park. The contact button that has the e-mail and phone number does not show in the browser.
**The Good Part*
There is some solutions to it.
This guy has a figured it out using the API, but I don´t quite understand how he did it. The downside is that all solution wants to sell you a product.
The focus of this company lies on extracting instagram e-mails and it seems legit.
Last but not least, this dude is using appium to extract those juicy e-mails. The third won´t really work for me because it seems too messy. Having to use a android emulator will be my last resort.
Thanks for helping and happy new year.
Set up mitmproxy on your machine.
Set up the certificates on your phone and use your machine as the gateway.
Analyze the traffic.
Reverse engineer the API (to log in and get info about user profiles) and then use it in your Ruby/Python/whatever code.

Slack: Get notification when Bot is offline

I searched the www for a solution to a problem of mine without finding an answer.
I need to get notificated when my bot in slack goes offline, but I don't know how.
To get notificated when he logs in is cacke, because I can set him to send a message, but when he's off there is no option to send a message.
I prefer PHP, Javascript, but other languages are also fine.
Thank you very much for your effort
There are many options how to setup a way to monitor your bot and get notified when it is offline.
One option that has worked well for me is to use an external website to monitor your bot. That website will send requests to your bot every couple of minutes to see if is is still alive and will notify you if the request fails. You may need to extend your bot a bit, so that he can reply to these requests in a proper way.
There are many website that provide this service. The one I use is uptimerobot, which also happens to be free for up to 50 monitors.

How to detect Ghostery?

I want to start out by saying we aren't trying to deceive anyone. A lot of these types of questions are met with responses like "Why don't you just be honest with your users? Why do you need to do this?"
We use LiveChat on our site, and we've been getting a lot of feedback from users who use AdBlock and Ghostery that our chat isn't working. We want to simply add a Google Analytics event that logs
If livechat didn't initiate and
if the user is using an ad blocker.
This way we have some stats as to what percent of our users are affected.
We already have it set up to read AdBlock and AdBlock Plus, and it is working well, but we can't seem to find a way to detect Ghostery as well. Has anyone had success with this?

can Yahoo and Hotmail contacts api be used without leaving the site?

I might be missing something but I'm trying to implement a contacts retrieval mechanism akin to the one that is offered by Google for Yahoo and Hotmail. Both APIs seem to require the user to actually go to their sites to log in. The documentation is really convoluted for both. I was hoping someone has done this and can point me to a simple way (if there is one) to allow the user to log in directly in my app and then for me to go and fetch their contacts for them (preferably in XML, but JSON would also do nicely).
I currently have a Perl script that goes and gets the gmail stuff and works very nicely. I was (maybe wildly optimistically) hoping that Yahoo and Microsoft would have similarly useful mechanisms.
Check out Open Inviter: http://openinviter.com. It has Yahoo, Hotmail, and many more :)
Seems http://openinviter.com domain is no more. There are few other providers available in market out of which I liked https://socialinviter.com, give it a try.

Can I Send a Text Message from My Computer to a Cell Phone?

Is it possible to send a text message from a computer to a cell phone? I'd like to be able to do this with Ruby, not quite sure what it entails. After seeing GrandCentral and Google Voice, it seems like it's not that bad.
Is it possible? How do I get started!
Yes, it's fairly trivial.
Depends on whether you want to pay or not; some providers offer email addresses for each number that is with them, otherwise you can get an account with an SMS gateway (find one in your country, or try clickatell) and then just buy credits. They'll have various interfaces: Email, HTTP, more.
check smsroaming.com it provide services to send sms from website and also have desktop application for it. including iphone, blackberry and facebook application for it.
i hope they will help you to manage sms.
regards
Azy
