I have been using Mercurial/tortoise HG and Visual HG as my DSCS with visual studio 2010. Of late i been experiencing noticeable delay while saving files in my VS solution (there 4 projects and each of those have about ~70 files each)
i am suspecting the delay could possibly be because of the Visual HG taking longer to readjust its icon upon saving a file. Does anyone here know any tricks/ tips to improve the performance?
(uninstalling Visual HG and going cmd prompt isnt one of those tips btw :))

anyone knows how to solve this?
Happens with previous versions of Visual Studio, such as 2019 and 2017.
Visual Studio doesn't show Projects on Solution and Indexing Files forever. Can't even run the program file.
Already tryed everything, fully uninstall Visual Studio related programs, .SDKs and Runtimes.
I am using visual studio 2010 in Remote desktop(citrix).Debugging is ultimately slow.
Previously I had Visual studio 2008 which is 5 times faster than this.
I found out that sometimes debugging become very faster in 2010 similar to Visual studio 2008 and most of the time very slow.I am not able to find out the reason behind this.
I think this may be due to some performance issue with my computer or Remote desktop.
Can you please suggest a solution.
Recently I've been having some major performance issues with my Visual Studio 2013.2 Ultimate. Doing anything in Visual Studio (editing a code file - each mouse click / key press has a delay of 1-2 seconds, navigating in Visual Studio menus - the who environment is very unresponsive)
I have tried a number of things to improve the performance - I have uninstalled the custom AddIns, I have tried switching on and off "Automatically adjust visual experience based on client performance". I have not quiet gone as far as doing a complete reinstall of Visual studio - and hoping I wouldn't have to go that way.
Is there any other way to debug the performance issues of Visual Studio? I have not had any issues with it in the past - but it is driving me absolutely insane.
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Nick
I have an annoying problem with Visual Studio 2013 Professional.
I tried doing some profiling, and ever since then, my Solution start-up is screwed up.
No matter how I save my Solution, the Performance Explorer is re-opened.
Also, all the projects in the Solution Explorer has everything expanded.
Does anyone know how to delete the Start-up cache on VS 2013?
Articles on how to do this for earlier versions of VS no longer apply.

Visual Studio has a habit of opening the wrong file in my solution - only a small proportion of the time, but several times a day and often enough to be annoying. It can happen when doing any of the following:
Opening a file from solution explorer
Using F7 to switch between aspx and code behind
Right clicking a method and selecting "go to declaration"
Has anyone else experienced this and have any ideas as to what could cause / fix this?
Update: I've finally got round to installing SP1 and it still occurs so I'm back to looking for a solution.
In case it's relevant, I've got both Resharper 5.1 and Visual Studio Productivity Power Tools installed.
Update 2: It looks like Visual Studio Productivity Power Tools was part of the problem, I’ve uninstalled it and have not had issues since.
I uninstalled Visual Studio Productivity Power Tools and it now works.
Have you service pack 1 installed?
