can't run my iphone app on an ipod - xcode

I am trying to test my new application i just wrote on my daughters ipod. I paid the 100 bucks to join development team for apple and then I followed the instructions which were pretty simple. But now I get the following message when I try to run:
The Info.plist for application at /Users/sarokhatchatourian/Documents/Books_nd_Movies_Seen/build/Debug-iphoneos/Books_nd_Movies_Seen.app specifies a minimum OS version of 4.3, which is too high to be installed on Hailiey’s iPod
Is there some software that I can download or what do I need to do to this ipod? Is this ipod too old? do I need to update the OS of the ipod? I am new to this. Not a mac guy but trying to get there.
Thanks
Saro

This is your answer. Change the deployment target of the app to an older iOS version or update the ipod to 4.3 or later.

If I have macbook that can't get last version of Xcode - could I publish my applications to App Store?

I have Macbook Pro 2011 and now I want to develop apps for iOS. Today I understood that I can't install macOS Mojave, and relatively I can't get last Xcode version. The latest version for me - is 10.1.
So, I have question: could I publish applications in the future to App Store, or it's the end and I need buy new Macbook ?
You mentioned that you are having Xcode version 10.1 which covers iOS 11+ compatibility & also iPhone X Max simulator supports. So in all you have not much older version of Xcode.
As per my knowledge you will still be able to develop & deploy apps from this Xcode version. And also Apple will continue support for at least next 2 years for this Xcode version.
So you can still be able to use your current Mac system.
Important Note :
Although current Mac system will allow you to develop & deploy apps its more preferred to arrange new Mac system to make sure get support of the new Apple features & functions.
Hope it will help you.

App dev on Mac Mini 1.1?

Could the very first generation of the Mac Mini handle app development for the iPhone? My friend said he'd give me his for free to use XCode, but I want to make sure that it could run it before I take it.
Short answer: For current iOS versions? No. For any iPhone? Yes.
The latest OS X supported on that hardware (officially, don't know about hacks) is 10.6 and the latest Xcode you can get for that is 4.2 (if you have a paid account, it seems). Xcode 4.2 would support iOS 5.0, so if that's enough, then it can be used for development for iPhone. But I assume that's not what you're after, since a lot has changed since iOS 5.0.
No. If you are trying to develop against IOS8. You need OSX 10.9.4(Mavericks) to run XCode 6.1.

Cannot Upgrade Xcode App Crashes After IOS 7.0.3 Upgrade

I am in a world of pain so confused.
I have updated my ipad and iphone to ios7.
I have been developing with titanium mobile and when i open my project in xcode and trying to run on the device i now get this error.
No provisioned iOS devices are available with a compatible iOS
version. Connect an iOS device with a recent enough version of iOS to
run your application or choose an iOS simulator as the destination.
So after googling around i notice i am running xcode Version 4.6.3 (4H1503). So i thought i might need to be update.
So i went to the mac store found xcode and then clicked update, and i know get this error.
Xcode can’t be installed on “Macintosh HD” because Mac OS X version 10.8.4 or later is required.
So i done some more googling and now i am here all the links i find take me back to the app store where i get the above error.
Can someone please help, after updating to io7 version 7.0.3. My app now crashes so i need to debug on the device to find out why this is happen

UPDATE
my mac is running Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63) and when i click check for updates i get this alert.
Software Update doesn’t have any new software for your computer at this time.
You need to upgrade your mac to the OS X Mavericks. Click the Apple icon on the top left and select "App Store...". Search for "Mavericks". Click "Free upgrade" (yes it is free :-). After that you will be able to upgrade Xcode to 5.x release.

How can I test app on older iPhone 3G with iOS v 4.2.1

I have been testing my app on my iPhone 4S and my wife's iPhone 3GS. I would also like to test it on the older iPhone 3G running iOS 4.2.1 (the highest version it will support).
When I connect the 3G to my Mac and attempt to provision it, I get two error messages:
Could Not Support Development
and
Xcode cannot find the software image to install this version
I am using the latest version of xCode (v. 4.4.1).
Is there some place to find the missing 'software image' in order to test my app on the 3G and older iOS devices?
If not, how does one know what devices the app will work with?
I do note that the newer iPhones that run iOS5 and above also support Automatic Reference Counting (ARC). I have checked the ARC button whenever I created a new project. Does one have to abandon ARC if one wants their app to work on an older pre iOS5-capable device?

I believe you can download it through iTunes by clicking restore in the device's summary page and then searching for the *.ipsw file. iTunes might even share the image once it is downloaded automatically.

Not in entirety. iOS 4.2 supports the vast majority of ARC, But it does not support weak references.
Also, there are a few hoops you must jump through to target. I have an answer here that outlines them (with screenshots).
I know for a fact that Xcode 4.4.1 can use an iOS 4.2.1 device as a target, since I can test on a second generation iPod touch running 4.2.1.
Finally, If you are not able to obtain a software image, you could try adding your device by UDID directly on the provisioning portal through developer.apple.com.(The old fashioned way)

Location services are not functional in iOS 4.3 simulator running on Mac OS 10.7 with Xcode 4.2

I have built an iOS app that leverages Core Location Framework. I have Xcode 4.2 installed and Lion and now Location services are not functional.
Anyone know if there is a patch or workaround for this? I basically stuck and can't test my app on the simulator.
The updated location services in the iOS Simulator are not available to the general public as of yet. If you have access to the iOS Developer Program, you can download the latest beta of XCode, 4.2, and test that way.
As a warning, the beta is just that, a beta. You may end up with more testing issues that are completely unrelated to your location services.
Best case scenario is 2 machines, one for each. That isn't always feasible, so you'll have to decide which is more important. Good luck.
Testing on the device would definitely be a good work around. You will want to test on a real device to check Xcode 4.2 is still in Beta, so this might be a bug in this latest version. According to the documentation it is supposed give you the latitude and longitude of the Apple headquarters as a default.
