How to access public_html via FileZilla? - ftp

Our website is hosted using CPanel. When we connect over sftp via FileZilla, for some reason, we're unable to access public_html. It works with FileZilla on the mac but on the PC, if we type in the same directory, it automatically adds a backslash, so it becomes public_html\, which doesn't work for displaying the site.
What would you suggest to connect to public_html without the backslash?

you have to type in ../ under remote site and press enter.
it'll take you to the root. You should be able to enter any path.

How to deploy Laravel project in to shared server

I have a Laravel project, I want to deploy it into the server, the thing is that normally we have index.php and .htaccess inside the public folder, but in my case, I have brought these two files into the root. So I want to know, what are the changes needed in serve?
How can I upload this to server?
Solution 1
Somehow you need to get the ssh access as a shared user from your hosting provider and then you can use git to clone your repository into your server.
Solution 2
You can copy paste all of your project into the server using ftp from your cpanel or relevant control panel.
Solution 3
Use Amazon as your hosting as it gives 1 year free tier access, and also gives you ssh service. Follow the solution 1 after getting this.
Put back the files to the public folder. You can change the root path of your server to your project's public folder.
Follow the steps to do:
Go to /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/
Open the .conf file inside this folder
Change the docuementRoot to /etc/var/www/html/project_name/public
Restart the apache server using the following command:
sudo systemctl restart apache2

public_html folder invisible

I have a website which I copied to this location. The public_html folder was also uploaded with the other folders but it is not showing up. Please guide me. Thanks.
As you are using DreamHost web hosting you wont have any control over ssh and chmod , chown commands. I think dreamhost wont use cPanel for shared hosting, they have their own control panel, so there is nothing you can do, Ask dreamHost support to reinitialize your public_html directory. Surely they will do that. I searched on dreamhost forum and found these link-

Currently in your case i saw that there is no issue related to public_html (technically "Document Root" ) directory coz as your http://www.inspuratesystems.com/second/ is pointing to correct directory , and your documentRoot is parent of that directory, So if your documentRoot was wrong then there were no chance to access that that url, currently your domain is opening a correct index.html file which indicates that your documentRoot is there.
Create a index.html or home.html file there manually (from their web based file manager) and see if it is working or not, if it works then there is some issue with your uploading.
Your hosting provider seems to be dreamhost.com
Please check out this thread, according to which public_html seems to be a special case on dreamhost:

Getting a 'Not Found' error on my website?
Hope it helps!
Make sure that the public_html folder has execute permissions
chmod a+x public_html
That will allow execute permissions for everybody.
Perhaps it's possible that server (apache?) hides folders named public_html? Also check that group others have read and execute permissions for that folder.
In folder /path/to/second/ run
chmod ugo+rx .
chmod -R ugo+rx public_html
to set folder visible.
cpanel may handle the "public_html" folder in a unique way. Try uploading to a folder like: /home/yourusername/public_html/second/files/ instead of /home/yourusername/public_html/second/public_html/
If you are wanting to create a new distinct website at inspuratesystems.com/second/ you don't need a second "public_html" folder. Just put them in the /home/yourusername/public_html/second directory.
If you are using a linux or OS X server, you may need to change the permissions on the folder.
Did you checked if the folder is hidden attribute?
If you execute ls -a in terminal, you will know about it's existence. If it is present then please try giving it read & execute permission (using chmod 555 command). Give write permission if you are planning to write something or take feedback from users (using chmod 777).
I tried some of this options above but unfortunately none worked. Instead I discovered that in CPanel you have a "Preferences" tab and in that tab you have a "User Manager" function. You can there edit the ftp user that you created before in CPanel. On the "User Manager" funcion you can find the "Home Directory" configuration. On that home directory you just choose the "public_html". When you configure the user in the ftp account on your ftp platform, it goes directly to the path you defined in CPanel.

how can I unsecure xampp in ubuntu?

when I access my IP in some other computer it requires username and password , I want no such type of security I want direct access to my xampp, phpmyadmin directory in any computer in same network. I've attached some snapshots :
Delete the .htaccess file in the htdocs folder. May be that is making your directory password protected.

Changing permissions on Windows for FTP via XAMPP

I am developing a rather basic CMS locally and can not ftp due to permissions problems. I have FileZilla FTP server running in XAMPP and can connect without problems but receive error "550 Permission Denied" when my code tries to upload via ftp.
I tried changing permissions via my FileZilla FTP client but without success (presumably because it is windows- error: "504 Command not implemented for that parameter"). I also tried going to the target folder's properties --> security --> permissions and checking "full" for the user XAMPP is running under.
So how do I setup the permissions to allow my CMS to use ftp in XAMPP?
Finally figured it out. For anyone else who has this problem, there is no need to set permissions in Windows. Instead, on the FileZilla FTP server admin interface select edit --> users --> shared folders and check 'write'.
For a fix of this make sure that the root folder is allowed to write and pass rights permission. had this same issue for a script to run on local web xampp server windows xp.. just change the root file attributes to 755 then try it if that don't work try 777. should work now... hope this works for you... as it did me.
If that does not work go to your htdocs folder in your xampp directory then right click it and check properties .. if read only is ticked .. untick it and apply to all sub folders and files
You're behind firewall? Try to allow FileZilla server program in Firewall.

Mount an FTP server locally

I do a lot of work with files hosted on an FTP server. Currently to edit a file on the server I have to open the server in Cyberduck, navigate with the mouse to the folder I want and then click "Edit," which opens a temporary file. Anyway, editing files on the server would be way easier if I could use the terminal to navigate through the file directory and edit files. Is there a way to create a symbolic link in my home directory to an FTP server?
edit: I'm on a Mac
If your using linux you can mount an ftp site with curlftpfs. Check out this tutorial: Ubuntu Geeks Curlftpfs
If you are on windows you can use NetDrive:
NetDrive.Net
With either of these you can create links/shortcuts to your hearts content.
