Quote 'Detail Amount' not updated when Products added - dynamics-crm

In CRM 4, when we add a Product (Quote Product / quotedetail) to a Quote, the total (Detail Amount) is not automatically updated.
The Recalculate button on the Quote does update the total and so I tried calling the same function in JavaScript. Besides not being successful (total not updated), the Quote form refreshes after each Product is added and goes back to the Information tab.
This problem also exists when adding Products to Orders and Invoices, but strangely not to Opportunities (total is automatically updated).
I expected that this issue would have been resolved in CRM 2011, but it appears to have the same behavior. I am also surprised that other people have not had this problem as I couldn't find anything on stackoverflow, so I would be very greatfull for any help.

Probably not what you were looking for, but at some point, our team got so fed up with the pre-fab product structure in the CRM we ditched it altogether and built out our own product structure.
Anyway, as a workaround, you can attach your own recalculation function to the quote products subgrid via javascript, probably best done on the load of the Quote form.

Additionally, you can define a ribbon button and trigger the recalculation on the button click.
Alternatively, you can handle the recalculation based on a .NET plugin fired on the entity Update message.

Certainly the product engine in Dynamics 365 is complex and some have created their own pricing engine. However ditching it prematurely without understanding how you can customize the current model could lead you into re-inventing the wheel. After reading some of the comments here, it's clear that the use of the CalculatePriceRequest message in a plugin was not considered. You can either use some of the elements of the pricing engine and use this pipeline message, or you can still use most of the out of the box components and simply turn off the auto-pricing calculating feature in Settings|Administration|Administrative Settings|Sales tab and turn it off, and build plugins against the line items and header objects. Before making such a drastic decision to rebuild the product pricing engine, make sure you understand your ability to customize what's there already.

Comic navigation in joomla?

I have a joomla site and would like to integrate some old unfinished webcomics to it, so I can pick them up where I stopped in a CMS that won't leave me in an absolute frothing rage (thanks, wordpress).
I've got some experience with Joomla and I believe it would be a pretty good platform for managing multiple comics... except for the small issue of horrid navigation between pages/articles. Joomla's integrated article navigation is a humble but passable start, but if you intend to use categories to organize chapters then getting from the end of one to the beginning of the next is... yeah. This is a pity, as Joomla's category and article management options are beautiful for archiving and presentation, and adding gantry 5 to it means a great deal of control over the reading experience. Basically, joomla has pretty much everything I want, except for the navigation.
Ideally, what I'd like to be able to accomplish for comic navigation in joomla is:
Clickable full-article-image leading to next article/page
Prev/next article buttons (already available)
Prev/next category buttons (do we have those?)
The latter two in a module I can choose where to publish (optional)
And this is it, basically. I understand that implementing the first could be very hard without some major template customization, in which case I'd be willing to insert the image as a link in the article body... but only if there was one single code I could use, like the one that generates the next category article button. Because I'm not willing to create hundreds of menu items to generate links page-by-page.
So is any of this doable?
This is a quick answer but too much for a comment. I'm assuming since you are on SO that you don't mind coding (as opposed to just configuring).
I think you need to do two things. First you need to create a pagination.php for your template. This will let you really super control what the pagination looks like. You can have images, special css and js, whatever you want. You can also add the "last" and "first" options.
I think you need to make a new plugin to replace the core pagenavigation plugin and that also generates the previous/next category links. (Or I guess you could make one just to do categorynavigation depending on what you want.) HOWEVER, it seems to me that there is data on the sibling links that is already being generated in the content category model so you might be able to use that. (Check the code; I think there was never a UI for it, but it is there. Even if it isn't there, siblings are very easy to obtain in nested sets)
The other thing you can really think about if you go that route is changing the whole thing somewhat to use a module that gets the current ID and category ID from JInput. You might also be able to use JPagination. The important thing, however is that you make sure to do the caching the way the pagination that is there does it. In other words you really want to cache the whole list in the order you want so you are not running so many queries and slowing your site down. You may want to look at the categories and category modules to get some ideas about the queries to do.
Hope that gets you started, but it is definitely something you can do without too much trouble.

I will probably get hit with a stick over the head for "me too answer" but I have this task on my list for near future as I am working on something that needs to offer this functionality.
This is how I was going to approach this:
1. create BO to hold project definition or a query of some sort. Goo example to follow is how report module BOs are stored in the database.
2. create win or/and web editor for this type of business object.
3. the editor will contain either chart form charts module or scheduler view in gantt mode (depending on what you need)

Main consideration for choices you have to make:
do you just need to display the view or interact with it too (chart control vs scheduler)
do you have to deal with source of the data that already has some schema you have to follow or do you have ability to model data as you want.

WooCommerce: How to disable variable_product_type_options in my plugin?

I want to disable the call to variable_product_type_options in my plugin. The plugin is a little helper function, that will help the user to create custom variations, instead of going through the regular variations in the default form. I want to do this, because a product has very long loading and saving times when it has too many variations (say, for example 100). Also, nobody really wants to edit these manually. Anyway, they are loaded by default for a product of type "variable", so I want to remove this.
I know, all I have to do is this:
remove_action('woocommerce_product_write_panels', 'variable_product_type_options');
The only problem is, that I can't find the right place to do that. I have tried in the action "woocommerce_loaded" but it's still there. So I need to know which WooCommerce action will be fired after the woocommerce_product_write_panels but before the admin form for the product is processed.

detect if site is being accessed via iframe? embed widget with shopping cart

I have a shopping cart I want to embed in a widget/iframe on other users sites, I see three ways of doing this each with drawbacks. Here are options from estimated most to least work.
Recreate interactive shopping cart UI in javascript widget then pass values to server script with AJAX, variables are passed to the main site, when user clicks "checkout" the user is then redirected to main shopping cart site with variables populated from what the entered in the widget.
pros: complete experience
cons: most work to complete creating UI and AJAX request.
Somehow detect if user is coming to shopping cart via iframe, if this is the case have alternate code that opens new window when user clicks "checkout" redirecting user to secure page and getting variables from cart via AJAX to populate final checkout.
pros: mid amount of work, must do AJAX request to get variables from shopping cart to populate final checkout
cons: can we easily detect if site is being accessed from a user within an iframe on another site?
complete entire checkout process inside iframe/widget.
pros: least ammount of work, just embed cart in iframe
cons: will not show https in browser user may be reluctant to purchase
What is the best option?
If you could provide a bit more information, maybe I could offer you an even better option. For starters, what have you built this application with (languages/framework)? Also, would you say your application's functionality is similar to Shopify's in that you allow users to host e-commerce sites through your service? If not, tell us a bit more about your application.
Here's a quick response to the options you provided.
option 1: the only real option as I see it. Whether you're embedding the shopping cart in specifically an iframe or rendering it onto the user's page as part of a template, you should be navigating the customer away to your main site to complete the checkout process. Or at least give them a lot of screen real-estate to work with (a sizable modal for example).
option 2: is messy. You can tell if a request is coming from a remote form (like an iframe) by appending url parameters. But taking the approach you're suggesting with this doesn't make too much sense.
option 3: too heavy unless you take a modal-approach like what I mentioned in response to option 1.
That being said, if you are building an application like Shopify, you should be able to build a template for each user's website that has a section dedicated to displaying a shopping cart pertaining to the current customer's session. No iframes or widgets necessary with this approach. But again, it all depends on the use cases of your application.
If your only concern with Option 2 is detecting if your content is being loaded within an iframe, you can do that with JavaScript by using "top.frames.length" or "top === self."
For example, you could show or hide different conditional form content, or a different submit button, using the following:

As you've stated, the first option is the best in terms of user experience and the most likely to achieve the highest possible conversions. How much better the conversion is compared to the next best solution cannot be objectively measured, as it involves recurring customers, your own brand name, the kind of products, etc. Since the conversion rates will directly affect you (and your company), it's wise to make an estimate first to see if your efforts spent will be worth it in the short and long term.
The second option is the sweet middle ground; you still get brand recognition and customers will have some security reassurance (via address bar); (i)frame detection is easily done by a simple JavaScript comparison: top === window. However, you're losing the continuity and hence likely lose some conversion. If this risk is manageable, I'd go for this option in the short term.
Not being able to see the security certificate directly via the green lock makes the third option the least desirable. However, not all is lost; by clever use of imagery you can still gain some trust with your end-user, as outlined in this image, which is part of a great article from Smashing Magazine.
Your decision should be based on:
what can be done in the short term
what should be done in the long term
how important is secure visual cues to my potential customer
time / money spent on either solution versus revenues (break-even analysis)

changing navigation in magento dynamically

I want to know that can i change the navigation menu dynamically,i am having two tabs on the basis of which i want to render the navigation menu.How can it be done

For usability reasons, the global navigation generally shouldn't change. Users will expect to see the same options available to them and will get confused (and leave) if they aren't.
Could you explain the requirement more?
EDIT:
Usability issues aside, try adding all necessary items to the top nav, then use Javascript to toggle between tabs. If you don't want to change the navigation PHTML files to add IDs to them, you can use the existing classes to target which nav items to show and which to hide.
Since Magento stores cannot function without JS anyway, you should be pretty safe with that solution. Preferably, you can change the top nav's template (I believe app/design/frontend/base/default/template/page/template/links.phtml in 1.4) to use IDs for those LIs as well, in which case you can target those instead.
