I really need help for creating a DevExpress XAF Windows application having a GanttView with special abilities including;
auto arranging of dependent appointments
resizing on holidays/not working times
hiding holidays/not working times, showing only working time intervals
please help, thanks in advance.
I will probably get hit with a stick over the head for "me too answer" but I have this task on my list for near future as I am working on something that needs to offer this functionality.
This is how I was going to approach this:
1. create BO to hold project definition or a query of some sort. Goo example to follow is how report module BOs are stored in the database.
2. create win or/and web editor for this type of business object.
3. the editor will contain either chart form charts module or scheduler view in gantt mode (depending on what you need)
As i get to this task myself I can provide more details or share an example.
here are some links to look at:

Main consideration for choices you have to make:
do you just need to display the view or interact with it too (chart control vs scheduler)
do you have to deal with source of the data that already has some schema you have to follow or do you have ability to model data as you want.

Is there a way how to display some contacts from Outlook's contact list in different manner?
So far I've seen, that there is quite some customization available for Office applications, however I haven't seen anything even remotely close to this functionality.
No, there is no way to display Outlook contacts in a different color.
Well, indeed this is what I found - it is possible only via adding of the new AutoFormatRule to the Outlook.TableView.
Sample code would be something like:
Outlook.AutoFormatRule autoFormatRule = tableView.AutoFormatRules.Add("My own rule");
autoFormatRule.Font.Bold = true;
autoFormatRule.Font.Strikethrough = true;
autoFormatRule.Filter = <filtering>;
tableView.Save();
tableView.Apply();
For filling in 'filtering' part one can use DASL Queries
But I still need to figure out what to do with the non-list views.
I can suggest only one possible way - replace the default folder view with a custom form where you can display entries in the way you need. See Creating Adjacent Windows In Outlook for more information.
Also you may consider using Add-in Express. They provide such layouts out of the box. See Advanced Outlook view and form regions.
Note, you can use any .net controls on top of custom forms.
Like the topic say I want to overwrite/change the "Menu Manager: Edit Menu item" layout. To illustrate my question:
In the picture whiche is shown I want to change the labels: Layout, Option, Integration.... and add some other options to it. How can I do it? Or is this even possible?
In order to change the text, simply use language overrides, google is your friend.
In order to add functionality, let's first of all explain what we're talking about to ensure we're on the same page.
Joomla components have views which can have one or more layouts, i.e.
/components/com_content/views/category/tmpl/ contains two layouts, blog and default.
A layout can additionally contain an .xml manifest (in our case, blog.xml and default.xml) allowing us to create a menu item for the specific view/layout combination. The .xml file contains the parameters that the user will set, you can add your own as well.
When you want to change Joomla, usually there is a way to do so without touching the core, which would be pretty bad, as any Joomla! updates would break your work.
For the view layouts a special feature called template override was developed, which allows you to create an alternative to the view layout in a safe place (under your template folder, in this case your admin template), and this is the most elegant and effective way to achieve your result.
Beware though, you are just creating a layout, most likely you will want to add functionality, if it's complex you might be better off creating a dedicated component to keep the code clean. Or you can just put all the logic in your view, query the database from there. But in this latter case, get paid, and run away. Never answer the phone to the customer again.
A final alternative is to write a system plugin that will manipulate the page markup after it was generated in the event onAfterRender(). This is a simple and good approach if you only want to add a button or make minor changes, but if you do anything more than that, see the above advise about running away.
I am new to using visual studio lightswitch and I have formed a table with data, but I want to know if there's a way I can get it so that when I start typing, suggestions will come up. As a lot of the data (i.e. Company Name) is repeated throughout, so it would save me typing it out in full every time. I don't want to use a drop box as it cant be limited. I have got this far without typing code so if we could keep it basic that would be great. Thanks
I am really desperate; Any help or comments would be much appreciated
LS HTML 2013 supports filtering/searching collections out of the box, just mark all searchable fields of your entities as "Is Searchable" and display the filter/search box on your screen, e.g. having your Customers displayed on a BrowseCustomers screen, you can trigger this capability as following:
myapp.BrowseCustomers.created = function (screen) {
screen.Customers.showSearch();
};
if you need "more control", you can add a dataitem to the screen (e.g. string "FilterTerm"), bind it to the query and tweak the LS createQuery method for your specific needs (e.g. the Customers VisualCollection), a good example can be found at Progressive insight on autocomplete as you type in the Lightswitch html Client
I am using Oracle OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0
I have 2 existing views saved as separate reports. One is a Pivot; the other is a Table. Their data sources are unrelated.
I want to be able to combine both views into one compound view within one report, so I can export both to the same Excel file.
Please let me know how to implement. Please excuse my word selection; I am very new to this product.
Edit: It was suggested that I include both reports on a dashboard, and then export from there. Here are my available dashboard options. Am I missing an Export option that should be visible for the version I am using? Am I not seeing it because I don't have full permissions?
long story short, it seems as though OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0 does not give you a seamless way to export entire Dashboard pages to Excel.
HOWEVER, there is an ugly way to do it.
Page Options --> Print --> Printable HTML --> Save As --> .xls
see this thread for more info.
here is another thread.
I've created an alternative layout for one of my articles which can be applied successfully, but as has been highlighted in various forums: if you view the article using the Single Article menu type the alternative layout doesn't get applied because of an XML override.
I have a Joomla site that is setup for Sales and Support where the article info such as date, hits etc is useful but on the marketing side none of that is needed, hence an alternative layout would work well.
I want to know how to enable my alternative layout using the Single Article menu type - I've already got the layout how I want it (testing it by having it overwrite default.php) but want to set it up as marketing.php instead and only have it applied to what is needed.
You're probably not going to like this answer because you have already written you're alternate view. If you were rewriting it to begin with, why would you not write in a way that the side bar parameters (date, hits, ect) are within a container that is only loaded conditionally. This way you would only have one view to worry about and a lot less headaches.
