Reading an external yml file in symfony1.4 with doctrine - doctrine

I created one yml file
$loader = sfYaml::load('/pms/config/org.yml');
print_r($loader);
I have values in the yml file
but Its printing only the file name
/pms/config/org.yml
What could be the error.

That happens when the file does not exist. You are pointing to the root dir of you server.
Try something like this to point to the root dir of your project:
$loader = sfYaml::load( sfConfig::get('sf_root_dir') . '/config/org.yml' );
print_r($loader);

Delete a file from specific directory Laravel

I have some files in "public/uploads/somephoto.jpg". How to delete this file? I tried
unlink(url('/uploads/somefile.jpg'));
But it doesn't work.
if file in your public folder then
unlink(public_path('uploads/somefile.jpg'));
or if it is stored in storage folder then
unlink(storage_path('uploads/somefile.jpg'));
here url() retrun http url but for delete file edit file you need system path which will be get by storage_path() or public_path()

Laravel - How to declare a file path constent in .env file?

In one of my Laravel based application, I want to include a JSON key file that is currently located in public/key/store.json
Now I want to write a constant in Laravel .env file so that I can access that file anytime I want. So, I write the following line of code:
KEY_FILE='/public/key/store.json'
But it show file path does not exist.
Can anyone tell me what's wrong in my declaration?
you should push your path in your app/config.php not in your .env

How to set path to file in Laravel?

I have located file in root directory of Laravel.
From controller I try to get this file like as:
$shipments = json_decode(file_get_contents("Statistics.json"), true);
But I get error.
What correct path to specify for getting file?
https://laravel.com/docs/5.0/helpers#paths
I guess you need base_path
file_get_contents(base_path().'/Statistics.json');

Laravel uploading a file to the right directory

I upload the files alright. Only it turns out that, in my case, the starting directory is Public, and that results that the files are accesible by everybody when they should be in the directories that are protected by previous authentication, that is, under App.
So, when I do this:
$file = Input::file('fichero');
$destinationPath = 'uploads/folder';
$file->move($destinationPath);
// Create model
$model = new Model;
$model->filename = $file->getClientOriginalName();
$model->destinationPath = $destinationPath;
The file is saved in here: localh.../myweb/public/
and that is outside the App parent folder where all my application files are.
I can imagine that the fact that is going to that directory is because it is taking the default in the configuration file, which is localhost/laravel/public/index.php/
so, writing something like
$file->move(base_path().'/uploadfolder/subdirectory/', $newname);
will start from what is fixed as base_path, but the base_path needs to be something like localhost/mywebname/public.
So, how do you write the path so that it goes to directories under App and not under Public?
I hope I am not asking a dumb question, but I have been trying for days and I have read the 3 related queries in here.
thank you
You may use:
app_path() // Path to the 'app' folder
app_path('controllers/admin') // Path to the 'app/controllers/admin' folder
This will return you local file system path, you should put your uploaded images in public/... folder.

how to make a generic path for a log file in Ruby

Here I am creating the logs folder under the current path of the directory using Dir::pwd. But I want to change this to pick the directory path from config files which will run in any other machines.
date_directory= "#{Dir::pwd}/logs/#{DateHelper.getDirectoryYearStamp}/#{DateHelper.getDirectoryMonthStamp}/#{DateHelper.getDirectoryDateStamp}/"
FileUtils.mkdir_p(date_directory) unless Dir.exists?(date_directory)
I tired with giving the absolute path and it works. But how do I make the directory by passing the relative path?
You are allready using a relative path, so is is generic solution, the subfolder of your current folder is a relative position. Is the code you published working ? But inside your question you mention config files, is it that what you want ? What kind of file ? a yaml, ini or of a simple text file ?
If a simple textfile you can do with
path = File.read("#{File.dirname(__FILE__)}/path.txt")
EDIT: based on your comment, the following snippets wil create a logfile a day in the /some/x/y/z
folder.
require 'logger'
$log = Logger.new("/some/x/y/z/logs.txt", 'daily' )
$log.info "teststring"
gives in the file "C:\some\x\y\z\logs.txt"
# Logfile created on 2013-04-05 13:17:27 +0200 by logger.rb/31641
I, [2013-04-05T13:20:19.811837 #3300] INFO -- : teststring
