I installed Visual Studio 2010 Professional and Qt 4.8.0 for VS2010 plus Qt VS Add-in 1.1.10 yesterday and still can't figure out how to:
Edit project (.pro) files from within Visual Studio.
Specify/modify QMake parameters for Debug and Release builds from within Visual Studio.
Can anyone please tell me how to do the above tasks?
It's always a good idea to try the documentation first. Here is a link to the documentation of the Visual Studio add-in for managing Qt projects.

In Visual studio 2019 and earlier versions Setup projects were part of the project templates I could add to any solution.
Now I've tried to open an old solution in VS 2022 and it says there is no compatibility for this kind of project.
Is that so, or am I missing something? Is there anything I can do about it?
I know there are some new solutions for installers integrated with VS, but Setup project just works for me and I never felt the need to change.
For Visual Studio 2022 support for Visual Studio Installer Projects must now be installed as an official Microsoft extension from here:
https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=VisualStudioClient.MicrosoftVisualStudio2022InstallerProjects
I found this by googling "Visual Studio 2022 Installer Project".
I have generated visual studio installer from Microsoft visual studio community version. i want to ask is there any difference of installer generated from visual studio community version and visual studio enterprise version OR visual studio ultimate version ?
The installer project extension is the same, assuming that's what you're referring to. There are no extra (or missing) features that depend on your version of Visual Studio.
Using the CMake GUI, for the same CMakeList, I am able to generate VS solution files on Windows and XCode solution files on Mac. However I am unable to generate VS solution on Mac, as I don't use any VS options under Specify the generator for this project.
I have VS 2017 Community for Mac installed on the Macbook. Is there anything I am missing?
Visual Studio for Mac is very different from Visual Studio.
The former is based on Xamarin Studio, a product of Xamarin Inc., which was acquired by Microsoft in early 2016. Microsoft then basically rebranded Xamarin Studio as Visual Studio for Mac. Note that Xamarin Studio was mainly an IDE for developing mobile apps. Visual Studio for Mac currently has no support for C++.
Because of this, CMake currently does not support Visual Studio for Mac. The Visual Studio generators that ship with CMake only work with the Windows versions of Visual Studio.
And before someone asks: They also don't work with Visual Studio Code, which is yet another product that has little in common with Visual Studio except the name. Unlike Visual Studio for Mac however, Visual Studio Code has extensive support for C++ development with CMake through plugins and might be a viable alternative if you're looking for a Visual Studio-like development experience for C++ on Mac.
In that case, you open the workspace directly with VS Code and let its CMake plugins handle the configuration of CMake. You will not use the Visual Studio generators of CMake for VS Code, as VS Code is unable to work with the generated solution files.
I am upgrading my project from visual studio 2010 to visual studio 2015
please tell me is there any need to upgraded the ms-build project.
Follow these steps to upgrade project created in earlier versions of VS this may help you:
In VS, on the File menu, click Open and then click Project/Solution,
Web Site, or File, depending on the kind of project you are
upgrading.
In the Open Project dialog box, select a project file, and then click
Open. If VS detects that the project or file was created in an earlier version of Visual Studio, the Visual Studio Conversion Wizard opens.
Complete the Visual Studio Conversion Wizard.
Refrence
is there any need to upgraded the ms-build project?
The answer is No. That because since start with Visual Studio 2013, Visual Studio team made a number of exciting changes to MSBuild for Visual Studio 2013. Now the 2013 version of MSBuild will ship as a part of Visual Studio instead of the .NET Framework. See this blog MSBuild is now part of Visual Studio! for more detail info.
You can find the MSBuild.exe from the directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\14.0\Bin
Since it ships as a part of Visual Studio 2013, just as Michael said, MSBuild upgrade should happen with the VS installation. So you do not need to upgrade the MSBuild separately.
Hope this helps.
I've been trying to get oF examples to compile with Visual Studio, but I'm either missing a link or something.. Is there a tutorial on how to setup oF with Visual Studio 2010 (or 2008 - or any version)? If not, can someone provide step-by-step directions on setting up oF with Visual Studio?
(Unfortunately, the oF website doesn't provide any info on setting up oF with VS. Their VS link just tells you how to download VS o.O http://www.openframeworks.cc/setup/vs-2008 )
There is a short Tutorial how to setup Openframeworks and Visual Studio 2010
in the OpenFrameworks Forum.

I haven't tried it yet, but it seems ok to me. Zach event hosts prebuild libraries for Visual Studio 2010 (poco comes to mind). They are currently working on a 2010 Version by the way.
Edit December 2010: The people at openframeworks released a new version 0.062 which is available for Visual Studio 2010. You can find it here: link text
