Restrict access to just some source code in Team Foundation Server 2010 - visual-studio-2010

We have a commercial software product and we are about to hire new people to work on it. This product is in our core business and so we are afraid them to copy our entire source code, leave the company and sell it.
That said, what we'd like is to restrict access to just some parts of the source code using TFS 2010. The Visual Studio 2010 solution has about 14 projects.
We want to allow access not to every project of the solution and even in any allowed project setup what people would see and change for them.
Any ideas?
Best regards.

You can deny permissions on folders in source control. If you have projects in your solution that needs to be shielded, then you have to create a smaller solution that only has the projects that the new employee has access to.

Create a Sharepoint site populated with default settings for an existing team project in TFS 2012

Has Microsoft addressed the difficulty of creating a SP site after creating the Team Project in TFS 2012? I am aware of the methods outlined here, but I was hoping they had come up with something slicker in the new version. If not, does anybody know of a better method or tool than the one suggested in the previous link?
The TFS Power Tools has a command tfpt addprojectportal that will create the SharePoint site for you after the Team Project has already been created. You will need to know process template that was used to create the team project. You will be able to find all the options you need for the command by using the /? switch.

How can I disable creation of source control in TFS 2010 when creating a new Team Project?

I've searched MSDN and this site (as well as a pile of web searches) and not found anything obvious ... I do see a similar question here about using an existing source control folder -- and the note that TFS apparently stores some project settings there (and thus needs one whether you use it or not).
We're using a non-TFS source control tool -- and I don't want newcomers "accidentally" storing source versions in TFS. So, I'd like to disable the creation of a TFS 2010 source control "tree" when I create a new Team Project in VS 2010.
There may be other solutions to this problem, though, and I'm open to suggestion. For example, if TFS really does need to store some internal data -- how about a way to simply prevent any source code checkins (that is, let TFS use the source control project as needed, but prevent users from adding files)?
TFS has extensive permissions settings.
You should be able restrict check in / access to source tree by permission.

VS2010 Code Templates - Centrally Store and Distribute?

Is it possible to centrally store and distribute code templates such that they can be pushed out to other members of a team?
First I'd keep the code in some sort of version control for obvious reasons, but I'm assuming your wanting to know how to share the templates automatically. I've never done what your asking but the templates should be stored in the \My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Templates\ProjectTemplates directory in visual studio 2008 anyway. You may be able to map this directory or one of the subdirectories to a network share where you can store your team templates.
Please let us know what the solution eventually is, because this sounds like a very useful idea.

Is it possible to have mixed source control providers in a VS2010 solution?

Currently most of the development in the company I work for is controlled via VSS. I've installed Team Foundation Server for the development at our site.
There is a future project that will involve new developement, but referencing older code bases hosted in VSS. My preference would be to use TFS for the new development, but I'm unsure if a VS2010 solution can have projects using different source control providers.
You'll need to change the source control provider manually (unbind - change SCC provider - bind) each time.
No Visual Studio does not allow for mixing source control providers within a solution at the same time.

Project management with Visual Studio, without TFS?

Can I have some basic project management in Visual Studion without TFS or is TFS what I need?
Basically I like to get a list with my projects, last edited dates, and if possible project tags (customer for example), and when selecting one VS should load it. From the right repository (Mercurial/Git/Svn). I can move my project to some repo host if they have this solution (Addon).
At the moment I handle the projecs manually with Windows standard folders + SVN/Hg in folder context menu, and thats a headache.
Thank you
As far as I know Visual Studio doesn't support that functionality natively.
TFS isn't my forte but I know it comes with MSDN subscriptions and the retail version is around $500 if that is the path you are interested in. If you do go the TFS route you have an option to use TFS Basic during install which is a greatly simplified install of TFS that can even use SQL Express.
You can check out pricing and download the trial from here if you want more info:
