Form fields generated by Spring Roo - spring

Does anyone know how to customize the form fields that Spring Roo generates so I can change the with of the associated label?
For example,
<field:input field="firstName" id="c_com_myclass_Person_firstname" label="What is your first name?" z=""/>
The field is rendered inside a div that is the full width of the screen, but the label is split onto two lines as if the tag has decided to give the label e.g. 50px width or something. e.g.
What is
your first name?:
There's no 'style' attribute on the tag and I can't find anything that looks like it would let me control the width.
Thanks

It's in the standard.css - class label has a 100px fixed width. Was so obsessed with finding in extracted dijit tundra css files I forgot to check the obvious.
Have to say, there are lots of things I like about Roo, but the tag libs and dijit stuff make working with the presentation side of things a real chore if you want to customise the appearence of your app...

Create page division / format page?

I need to create a page division in Alloys XML, like a <div> tag in HTML
Basically it needs to be able to be variable size, have attributes like font, colour, border ETC and most importantly it needs to have sub tags such as label and button inside
I've tried using sperate views from this and requiring them into the current window. I've also tried using modules, but I'm not sure if I did it correctly.
My question is, what would be the best way to go around this?
You can create a Widget for this: https://wiki.appcelerator.org/display/guides2/Alloy+Widgets
It is basically a reusable component which you can pass parameters into and it has a own controller, style and view file.
In your XML file you can use it like this:
<Widget src="foo" name="button"/>

CKEditor Adding Extra Classes To Widget

I've created a CKEditor widget to allow a user to input a section of text into a colored box once it is output to a report. My code is almost exactly like the simplebox example on the CK site
While I can get the widget to work and add the correct classes, 'simplebox-title' etc, it is also adding a ton of extra wrapper classes, data tags, and even an img (for the move button) when I save it into the database. So instead of having a clean:
<div class="simplebox-title"></div>
I end up with about 4 lines of code like:
<div data-cke-widget-id="0" data-cke-display-name="div" class="cke_widget_wrapper cke_widget_block" data-cke-filter="off".....etc>
All of this is going into the database. It even transfers the image of the "+" sign to move the div around. I don't want any of this as it comes through from the database into the report page.
I'm sure I'm missing something (probably obvious), but I can't find it. And blowing up the DB + having that move button won't work on a report.
I'm using PHP/Laravel, mysql, standard (not floating) CKEditor, CKEditor Save plugin.
Any help?

CKeditor, colour of text seems to be not retained although HTML is correct, how to resolve?

I am using CKEditor 4.4.5.
Users use the text colour icon to change the colour of a word which works fine. When one checks the underlying HTML, it shows:
<p><span style="color:#FF0000">test </span></p>
However when clicks the "source" icon again to return to the standard non HTML view, the colouring has gone, although the underlying HTML is still correct. If you take this HTML and render it in a browser it will work correctly. So it seems that CKEditor is not able to render text colour correctly, unless freshly changed using the text colour icon.
We had customers thinking that the colour had not changed, and then trying to fix the issue in the HTML, which resulted in the total corruption of the HTML due to human error.
Is this a bug, or am I missing something?
Thanks.
As for CKEditor it might so happen that Advanced Content Filter will strip undesired tags / attributes.
If you don't have colorbutton plugin, CKEditor will strip this span (see standard demo).
You have 2 simple solutions:
Add colorbutton plugin.
Simply add to your config:
config.extraPlugins = 'colorbutton';
Add ACF proper rule.
config.extraAllowedContent = 'span{color}';
For more informations about ACF see Content Filtering (ACF).

Table Align Centre does not Align Centre

I'm building a simple table in CKEditor. If I select Left or Right align, it aligns in the expected side of the view when saved. However, when saved this fails if I select Centre align. It's obviously not the whole page because Centre Align text above and below will display Centre aligned. This issue only becomes apparent when "saved" ... (ie a centre aligned table will centre align in edit).
Can you suggest what's going on?
Thanks
How is the centering actually performed? If you have configured using the XHTML configuration, this sounds like a class issue - if not, it could be a CSS !important override rule.
I have CKE configured based on the XHTML example, so my CKE produces centering on table cells like this: <td class="JustifyCenter">Twilight Sparkle</td>. So, if you place the HTML generated by CKEditor in an external page, make sure that the JustifyCenter class actually defined in the parent page. Also in Developer tools that not only it the class rule exists, that it is actually correct and applies.
Also in your developer tools and check to see if your CSS style is actually working or is it being overridden. If you have a parent page CSS rule like td {text-align:left !important;} and CKE produces content like <td style="text-align:center">Fluttershy</td>, the parent page is overriding your inline CSS definition.
I'm only guessing here - it would help if you can you show us the final code as it's used when saved and also your CKEditor configuration.
the table align to center CKeditor will generate something like this, <table align="center">
but it is not working.
finally i found a solution by using CSS, here my code
table[align="center"] {
margin: 0 auto;
}

Resizing/Scaling images in a view by setting custom CSS width

Problem
I'm doing some maintenance and changes on a Drupal site, but I'm not an expert. My problem is the following. I have a view that produces an HTML table by fetching some field values and putting them into the table columns. One of these field is an image. Unfortunately each image has a different size (images are uploaded by users), and so the overall table looks ugly. I would like to resize/scale images so that they all have the same width. I know I can use CSS to set the image width to a fixed value, and let the height adjust accordingly:
<img src="..." style="width:70px"/>
Unfortunately I don't know how to make Drupal output this custom HTML when processing my view. Currently the produced HTML looks like this:
<img
class="imagefield imagefield-field_imgsmall"
width="100"
height="39"
alt=""
src="http://www.mysite.org/sites/default/files/foobar.png?1292948397">
and I guess this is produced by one of the view's fields (namely field_imgsmall).
First question is: what is that number after the ? in the src URL? And where does it come from? (Each image has a different number in the corresponding src URL)
What I've tried
I've noticed that in the "edit view" mode, when selecting a field, I can check the option Rewrite the output of this field, and there I can mix HTML and substitution patterns. However, I've seen that one of the substitution patterns that's available to me ([field_imgsmall_fid]) is actually producing the entire HTML above ... so I can't customize it.
What can I do? Am I going in a totally wrong direction?
You should look into the imagecache module, which allows you to resize images (and cache the results, so the resizing process rarely happens).
