How to xcode 4 in OSX 10.6.8? - xcode

How do I run Xcode on OS X 10.6.8 / Snow Leopard? The Xcode 4 on the App Store is only compatible with 10.7 / Lion and upwards.
Any clue, any hope for goodold 10.6.8 users ?

If you can log into the iOS Developer Portal, do that and then search for Xcode 4.2 for Snow Leopard and you'll get Xcode 4 for 10.6.8.
Otherwise, go to Downloads for Apple Developers, search for Xcode and then you'll find a download for Xcode 4.2 for Snow Leopard.

If you're a paid developer, you can download it from apple's online downloads section.
If you're not, you're screwed.

Can I submit app to App Store if I install OS X Yosemite and XCode 6 GM?

Currently I have Mountain Lion OSX.
I want to download the XCode 6 GM. I'm thinking to upgrade the my Mini Mac (late 2009, 8GB) to Yosemite preview instead of Mavericks.
If I install Yosemite preview and XCode 6 GM, can I submit app to the App Store? Or only with Mavericks?
The description says it.
Xcode 6 GM seed
Xcode 6 GM seed, including the new Swift programming language, is free
for Registered Apple Developers. Sign in with your Apple ID to
download. Xcode 6 GM seed runs on OS X Mavericks.
Xcode 6.1 beta for OS X Yosemite

Xcode 3 and iOS 6

A newbie question. I have Xcode 3.2.6 and my ipad is iOS 6.0. It seems this version of Xcode doesn't support the iOS version. What version do I need to upgrade my Xcode to so that I can test apps on devices running iOS 6.
And, my second question do I have to download the .dmg to upgrade Xcode. Currently I am running snow leopard 10.6.8.
For iOS 6 you will need Xcode 4.5 and at least Lion (10.7)
You need OS X Lion 10.7.4 or later to install the latest version of Xcode from the AppStore. Then you will be able to build apps to your device with iOS 6.0.

Can I get the iOS 5 SDK on Xcode 3.2.6?

I can't upgrade to Xcode 4 because I am still running Snow Leopard and my computer doesn't have the hardware to support Lion. Is there anyway I can get the iOS 5 SDK still? I checked on Apple's site, but I only see iOS 4.2 for Xcode 3.2.6.
Yes, Xcode 4.2 with SDK 5 works fine on Snow Leopard. You can download it from the iOS Dev Center. You need to have a paid developer account to see these versions of Xcode. It's right below Xcode 4.2.1 for Lion (as of 2011-12-13):
Xcode 4.2 for Snow Leopard
If you don't join the iOS Developer Program, the link to download Xcode 4.2 for Snow Leopard will not be available, so NKijak is right. If you create a developer account but don't pay for the Dev Program you can only access the 3.2 version of Xcode in Snow Leopard. I've accessed the Downloads page with both types of account to test this, so either pay and join the Dev Program or get stuck with iOS 4 (or borrow an account just to download Xcode)

Is moving to Lion a prerequisite for moving to XCode 4.1 (from the app store)?

should you only download XCode 4.1 from the app store if you move to Lion?
i.e I am staying on Leopard for a few more weeks, so do I have to stay with XCode 4.0.2 until I move to Lion?
Yes. Xcode 4.1 Requires Lion. This has been well documented, but 4.2 is apparently available for Snow Leopard as well.
Xcode 4.2 is available for both Lion and Snow Leopard, if you download it from the iOS Developer Centre while logged in as a registered developer. The Mac App Store will only upgrade you to Xcode 4.2 if you upgrade to Lion, but you can manually install it on Snow Leopard by manually downloading it as described here, and it runs just fine on Snow Leopard.
Yes moving to Lion is a requirement. 4.1 brings all of the Lion features into the Xcode environment. I would say if you aren't ready to move to Lion yet, then just stick with 4.0.2 unless you need to develop for Lion.
UPDATE: As of Xcode 4.2, it is now for both Lion and Snow Leopard.
Yes, it seems:
This is a pre-release version of Xcode 4.1 for both Mac and iOS development. This release requires Mac OS X Lion and includes iOS SDK 4.2. Continue to use Xcode 3.2.5 on a Snow Leopard partition if you plan to submit Mac or iOS apps to the App Store

UPDATE: This question was asked in Jul 2011. As of now, Nov 2011, Xcode 4.2 is already released and made available on the Mac App store.

Install Mac OS X SDK 10.5 on Snow Leopard

Is there an easy way to install / download the Mac OS X 10.5 SDK on Snow Leopard?
I have Xcode 4.0 installed via the Mac App Store. I can also download it from the developer site if necessary but I don't know if it includes the 10.5 SDK.
I need the 10.5 SDK for building Android. It is a hard requirement stated in the docs. I tried symlinking to the 10.6 SDK but that didn't work.
(Perhaps it would be OK to get the SDK from an older Mac that is actually running 10.5 and has an older version of Xcode installed? Would that work?)
The 10.5 sdk is not available for XCode 4.0. You will need to keep XCode 3.2.6 if you need it.
There is a solution to install the Mac OS X SDK 10.5 on Snow Leopard shown here:
How to add base SDK for 10.5 in xCode 4
Basically, you can run the MacOSX10.5.pkg from an Xcode 3 installer and install the SDK into an Xcode 4 install.
