In Visual Studio 2010, in my view (cshtml), sometimes I have some code not accepted. Here is a concrete example:
I know this is not a real problem. I wonder if I can "edit" the rules of VS to stop telling me there is a problem for this 'nowrap'. I don't want to desactivate all the warnings.
Thanks.
You could get around this particular warning by using a CSS rule.

I am using Visual Studio Community and Visual GDB to code and debug STM32 projects.
The problem:
When I type something that is known to Intellisense, (path, variable or anything really), the suggestions come up briefly and then immediately disappear therafter. For that split second I can see that Intellisense has the correct suggestions, but TAB or ENTER does not work since the suggestions disappear very quickly.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thank you
You might try to disable any extensions in Visual Studio.
I had the same problem, surfed around and read in some places that disabling extensions would work.
So I disabled them one by one and the problem was gone.
I was coding with razorpages when randomly about 2 days ago the razor pages now display boths the cshtml and cs right away. earlier I could expand the cshtml to get to the cs file and i think it was a more compact that way
i think its options somewhere in tools->options->environment () but there are so many
after a few different google searches I found nothing helpful.
here is a picture of the problem:
earlier I could expand the cshtml to show the .cs files now i just see all of them and its kind of overwhelming.
enable file nesting in solution explorer
They're not being nested, is all. It's literally two separate files, Visual Studio just recognizes that it's a Core project, and then shows them nested, since it understands that they're related. If that's not happening, then that means Visual Studio doesn't recognize it as a Razor Page, which could be a problem with VS, the project, or something else entirely. It's essentially impossible to say what the issue might be, so you'll just need to try stuff. A few things I can think of to try:
If you're not using VS 2019, upgrade. Ultimately, this is part of the ASP.NET Core tooling, and best version of that is always going to be in the latest release.
Verify that you solution is building correctly. You might also consider deleting all bin and obj directories and rebuilding to ensure the build is truly up to date.
Close Visual Studio completely and re-open it. You may consider restarting as well. (You've probably already tried this though).
Try running Visual Studio in "safe-mode", which essentially just means disabling all the extensions you have installed. You can either manually disable all your extensions and then restart or close Visual Studio and start it via the command like with devenv /safemode. If this fixes the issue, then there's an extension causing issues. You'll probably need to just disable each one by one to see which on is causing the problem, and then either remove it or see if there's an update that corrects it.
If all else fails, repair Visual Studio. Run the intaller, and click the "More" link under the installation you're working with. Then click "Repair".
This problem is making me mad.
We have a set of projects that rely on T4 templates to generate code for a bunch of DSLs.
Every time I try to transform one of these T4 templates in Visual Studio 2015 I get this window, the security warning:
I have set the "Do not show this message again".
I have set the VS option "Text Templating | Show Security Message" to false.
Every time I restart Visual Studio 2015 and transform the first template the message pops up again.
This does not happen in Visual Studio 2013.
Some hints that may have something to do with this:
The actual text template that is called is published by a VS extension that is installed in the admin extensions directory ($ProgramFiles$\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\Extensions).
We are using our own custom code generator (that derives from TemplatedCodeGenerator).
Any ideas?
I have found the solution to this one a little by chance.
The problem was that the assembly containing the custom code generator was referencing Microsoft.VisualStudio.TextTemplating.VSHost.12.0 instead of version 14.0 as for Visual Studio 2015.
Oddly enough the transformation did not complain about the problem with the reference but completely ignored the VS option to stop showing the security dialog (may be because it was reading it from the wrong place?).
After correcting the reference, the problem never happened again.
Today my Visual studio couldn't help me by auto complete so I thought that the ReSharper trial period had ended .After I suspended ReSharper I see that still no auto complete. After a few changes I see still the same problem and there are some strange behavior in Visual Studio. For example I see m_value field for int. But my other Visual studio instances works as expected. How can I fix this problem?
Probably there is an error somewhere in your code which is causing the types to be determined incorrectly - for example a missing curly brace. Check your code carefully for errors. Make sure that your code compiles correctly.
PS: You don't need ReSharper to get autocompletion. Intellisense is a standard feature of Visual Studio. Even without ReSharper I find the built-in autocompletion extremely usable.
IntelliSense is Microsoft's implementation of autocompletion, best known for its use in the Microsoft Visual Studio integrated development environment.
The file property build action was content and this was reason of those strange behaviours. It is fixed after turned build action to compile.
I have just discovered macros in Visual Studio and I can't be happier. Well... I have my complaints but... you know ;)
A few of my macros are taking quite a while to complete and I am looking for a way to track progress. I build a log file during most of my macro processes but I have not found a good way to report progress without pausing the process. Ex. MsgBox("Progress")
Any way to access the output window or even better the VS status bar?
I made a macro for Visual Studio 2005 which needed a form to choose between some options. I made that form from code and everything worked fine.
I think that you can do something similar. You can create a form with a progress bar and use that to track your progresses.
You could also use the visual studio designer to generate the code for you.
